The effects of sulglicotide, alone or combined with cimetidine, have been investigated on mucosal lesions induced in rats by pylorus ligation. In the same animals, the measurement of acid and pepsin output and of soluble and barrier mucus has been performed. Dose-dependent sulglicotide prevented the development of mucosal lesions and its protective effect was achieved without significant modifications in gastric acid secretion. The secretion of pepsin and of mucus was markedly inhibited at every dosage of the compound. Neither the damage to gastric mucosa nor the secretion of acid, pepsin and mucus were affected by cimetidine. The combination of the highest doses of both compounds resulted in a synergistic gastro-protective effect, not dependent on a synergistic effect on the reduction in acid secretion. 相似文献

The results of 2-aminohistamine (compound I) and 2-amino-5-methylhistamine (compound II) on cat acid secretion and on guinea pig gall-bladder motility are described and compared with those of Histamine or Dimaprit. The compound (I) showed a greater H2- than H1-receptor stimulating activity, while compound (II), inactive on H1, was effective on H2-receptors, being endowed with a less "potency" and "efficacy" than compound (I). In South America, Solenopsis saevissima and S. invicta are the most common fire ants. Nests are founded in areas under anthropic interference like urban or rural areas, but S. invicta is found preferentially in those with the greatest anthropic interference. However, we do not know the rates at which they exist in anthropized areas next to high density of native vegetation. Areas with 60 to 90% of native Atlantic Forest were selected to verify the occurrence of both species in rural and urban areas. We investigated the molecular diversity and applied the reconstruction of the ancestral state analysis for each species. A total of 186 nests were analyzed and we found that the two species had the same proportion in the urban area. However, S. saevissima had a higher rate of prevalence in the rural area, in addition to having a greater number of haplotypes and ancestry associated with this type of habitat for the region. S. invicta had the same number of haplotypes in both rural and urban regions, and less haplotypic diversity. We conclude that S. saevissima is a species typically associated with rural areas and S. invicta, although present, is not dominant in urban areas. 1. In liver microsomes from hyperthyroid rats NADPH-dependent lipid peroxidation induces a hydroperoxide formation 56% higher than that in euthyroid ones. 2. The addition of 5 microM Fe2+ (or Fe3+) strongly decreases the hydroperoxide level in favour of that of TBA-reactive substances. Higher iron concentrations (30 microM) have no significant effect. 3. In hepatocytes from hyperthyroid rats CCl4-induced lipid peroxidation produces an amount of TBA-reactive substances four times higher than that in those from euthyroid rats. 4. In the liver of hyperthyroid rats a GSH concentration decrease (by about 35%) is found while the opposite occurs in the blood of the same animals where GSH increases 2.5 times. 5. It is shown that in the liver of hyperthyroid rats, besides higher lipid peroxidation, a more active defense mechanism is operating since both glutathione peroxidase and glutathione reductase specific activities are higher than in euthyroid rats. 相似文献

Neutrophils play an essential role in host defense and inflammation, but the latter may trigger and sustain the pathogenesis of a range of acute and chronic diseases. Green tea has been claimed to exert anti-inflammatory properties through unknown molecular mechanisms. We have previously shown that the most abundant catechin of green tea, (-)epigallocatechin-3-gallate (EGCG), strongly inhibits neutrophil elastase. Here we show that 1) micromolar EGCG represses reactive oxygen species activity and inhibits apoptosis of activated neutrophils, and 2) dramatically inhibits chemokine-induced neutrophil chemotaxis in vitro; 3) both oral EGCG and green tea extract block neutrophil-mediated angiogenesis in vivo in an inflammatory angiogenesis model, and 4) oral administration of green tea extract enhances resolution in a pulmonary inflammation model, significantly reducing consequent fibrosis. These results provide molecular and cellular insights into the claimed beneficial properties of green tea and indicate that EGCG is a potent anti-inflammatory compound with therapeutic potential. 相似文献

This study presents DNA barcode records for 4118 specimens representing 561 species of bees belonging to the six families of Apoidea (Andrenidae, Apidae, Colletidae, Halictidae, Megachilidae and Melittidae) found in Central Europe. These records provide fully compliant barcode sequences for 503 of the 571 bee species in the German fauna and partial sequences for 43 more. The barcode results are largely congruent with traditional taxonomy as only five closely allied pairs of species could not be discriminated by barcodes. As well, 90% of the species possessed sufficiently deep sequence divergence to be assigned to a different Barcode Index Number (BIN). In fact, 56 species (11%) were assigned to two or more BINs reflecting the high levels of intraspecific divergence among their component specimens. Fifty other species (9.7%) shared the same Barcode Index Number with one or more species, but most of these species belonged to a distinct barcode cluster within a particular BIN. The barcode data contributed to clarifying the status of nearly half the examined taxonomically problematic species of bees in the German fauna. Based on these results, the role of DNA barcoding as a tool for current and future taxonomic work is discussed. 相似文献
