Summary The chromosome complement and some karyological features were investigated in the pelagic amphipod Hyperiella dilatata Stebbing 1888 from the Ross Sea (Antarctica). The diploid karyotype consists of 48 metacentric and 10 submetacentric elements (2n = 58). The presence of secondary constrictions and supernumerary chromosomes is described. Available chromosome numbers of Hyperiidea exhibit a wide range of distribution, among which Hyperiella dilatata is the closest to the modal number of other amphipods. 相似文献

The results of several experiments on reproductive behaviour of Tigriopus fulvus, indicate that females release a sex pheromone promoting sexual recognition and attraction in males. This compound has been verified to be not only species-specific, but also slightly modified in specimens belonging to different geographical populations. The compound possesses a mass of between 100 and 1000 daltons. A male can invest from one to 15 days in the precopulatory phase; delayed fertilization causes a strong reduction in the average number of offspring produced by parental specimens belonging to the oldest agegroups, but does not have any effect on the sex ratio. 相似文献

Summary On the basis of more than 100 observations of mitotic chromosomes of cleaving eggs, it was ascertained that the diploid number of Dactylopodia sp. is 2n = 24 elements. The karyotype is characterized by six metacentric and six sub-metacentric pairs of chromosomes; a satellile is frequently present in one of the largest submetacentric pairs. The great stability of chromosome number in harpacticoid copepods is confirmed by these results. 相似文献
