The results of four field surveys for Rotifera in Tasmania are summarized. Most new species and records in a 1987 survey were from acid waters (pH < 4.0) of dune lakes on the west coast (42° S). Marked intra- and interhabitat differences in rotifer communities of lakes and ponds were demonstrated by cluster analysis and related to habitat heterogeneity. 相似文献

Two species of Anabas Cuvier, 1816 (Osteichthyes: Anabantidae): A. testudineus (Bloch, 1795) and A. oligolepis Bleeker, 1855 are widely distributed in India. Since both species are represented in one habitat — Lake Kolleru, and are very closely related, they were compared using starch gel electrophoresis. Electrophoretic separation of proteins of eye lens, skeletal muscle and heart muscle revealed differences such as i) absence of one protein fraction in one of them, ii) mobility and iii) staining intensity of some of the bands. The esterase (non-specific) patterns of serum, liver, kidney, skeletal muscle, heart muscle and eggs also showed differences. The LDH fraction of eye lens showed a difference in mobility. 相似文献

From a study of the permanent shallow water in the savanna near Boa Vista, Brazil, a littoral sample was brought back by Dr. G.‐O. Brandorff ; Ahrensburg, which he gave me to examine. The analysis of the material, about 50 ml, showed 149 identifiable species as well as some preservative artifacts. Six species were hitherto unknown to that area. They were identified as the following: Cephalodella brandorffi nov. sp., Dicranophorus difflugarium (Penard , 1924), Eothinia triphea (Harring and Myers , 1924), Lecane bulla papillosa nov. ssp., Macrochaetus paggiensae nov. sp., Notommata falcinella (Harring and Myers , 1922), and Habrotrocha pusilla pusilla (Bryce , 1893). 相似文献

Unusually large forms of Asplanchna sieboldi, Brachionus plicatilis, B. calycijlorus, Filinia pejleri, Trichocerca similis and Keratella slacki were collected from waters of south-eastern Australia. These giant forms are figured, and brief location and ecological data are given. Although the rotifer fauna of the Murray riversystem contains pan-tropical and pan-subtropical species, there exists a greater degree of endemicity than previously considered. 相似文献

In Neusiedler See, a shallow alkaline lake with fluctuating water level and salinity, four species of Hexarthra occur: H. mira, H. fennica, H. jenkinae (occasional) and H. polyodonta. The analysis of longterm data reveals a general phenological pattern which does not change from year to year. They first occur in May, develop a maximum in June/July, sometimes a second one in August/September and disappear in October. But the species succession is different in the various years, occasionally only one species (H. mira or H. polyodonta) being present. There is a fairly consistent relation between the chemical conditions and the prevalent species; an increase in salinity favours the development of H. polyodonta. Low temperature and wind generated suspended particles have a negative influence on the development of the Hexarthra populations. Smaller populations of Hexarthra are in a relation to the occurrence of Leptodora indicating predation pressure of the latter species. In Neusiedler See the Hexarthra populations seem to be controlled to a great extent by abiotic factors, but predation by Leptodora and most probably by young fish seems to play an important role too. 相似文献

One of the difficulties in working with bdelloid rotifers is to extract them from the substratum. In the present paper a method is suggested to separate moss-dwelling bdelloids and other animals quantitatively from their habitat. By this procedure it is possible to identify the entire spectrum of species and to calculate exactly their individual densities per unit area or dry weight of moss. 相似文献

A soil sample out of a dried rockpool (lithotelma) on a dolomit hill in the Etosha National Park, Namibia, was investigated for possible occurence of rotifers. Besides a numerous and rich microfaunae, e.g. Zooflagellata, Rhizopoda. Acari, Nematoda, Tardigrada and Copepoda, 24 rotifers were found. Until today, four so far unknown Bdelloidea could be described: Dissotrocha decembullata n. sp., Dissotrocha hertzogi aculeata n. ssp., Otostephanos jersabeki n. sp. and Philodina foissneri n. sp. 相似文献

The crustaceans and rotifers of 17 samples from the plankton and 3 from the littoral from lakes of the lower Rio Nhamundá, an affluent of the Amazon were studied. 145 taxa of rotifers and 46 of crustaceans were found; two rotifers and three crustaceans are new to science: Keratella americana nhamundaiensis, Euchlanis triquetra var. nhamudaiensis, Echinisca superaculeata, E. sioli, and E. mira. In the taxonomical part 24 rotiferan and 22 crustacean taxa are described in more detail, drawings of them given, and partly remarks made about the geographical distribution. In the biocenotical part the conditions of dominances were studied: Brachionus zahniseri and Keratella americana within the rotifers and Bosminopsis deitersi and Oithona amazonica within the crustaceans are the dominant species in the pelagial. In the littorial Synchaeta stylata and Stre‐blocerus pygmaeus were found to be dominant. The species diversity and also the evenness is higher within the rotifers than in the crustaceans. By means of an index of similarity dendrograms were drawn where groups of lakes can be differentiated by using the similarity between the crustaceans. The proportion of neotropical species in relation to pantropical and cosmopolitical species is lowest in the rotifers, higher in the cladocerans and highest in the copepods at 100%. 相似文献
