Tuberculosis morbidity in Primor'e region

The present epidemiological situation in tuberculosis in the Maritime Territory is described, including the spread of this infection among the population and the prognosis for the next year. Tuberculosis morbidity in HIV-infected patients is specially emphasized, with high growth rate of morbidity in these mixed infections. The conclusion has been made on the necessity of improving the diagnostic and prophylactic measures among the population of the Maritime Territory.     

Isolation and properties of N-acetyl-beta-D-hexosaminidase from the fungus Hohenbuechelia serotina]

N-Acetyl-beta-D-hexosaminidase (EC 3.2.1.52) isolated from the fruit bodies of Hohenbuechelia serotina (Fr.) splits N-acyl-p-nitrophenyl-beta-D-glucosaminides acylated at the amino group of the aminosugar by fatty acids, substituted benzoic acids and some amino acids and peptides. The enzyme was purified about 210-fold by chromatography on CM-Sephadex C-50 and DEAE--Sephadex A-50 and by gel filtration of Sephadex G-200 with a yield of 4%. The enzyme had pI 6,6. Some properties of the enzyme, pH-optimum, thermal stability and substrate specificity were studied. The Michaelis constants for some p-nitrophenyl-beta-D-glucosaminides were were calculated. p-Nitrophenyl N-acetyl-beta-D-glucosaminides were calculated. p-Nitrophenyl N-acetyl-beta-D-glucosaminide and D-galactosaminide at concentrations more than 0,3 mM inhibited the enzyme.     

The search for decisive factors in a study of the ultimate cause of cluster structure formation in water

The theory of nuclear ortho–para spin isomerism of water molecules proposes a putative ultimate cause for cluster structure formation in water. This theory appeared to be convincing enough to motivate numerous experiments aimed at validating it. However, a sound model of supramolecular structure is not yet available for water, despite many years of work by a number of research groups that expanded the number of models considerably. The possibility of validating the theory of nuclear ortho–para spin isomerism in a highly reliable way has been experimentally demonstrated in the present study. The emergence of crystallization centers related to the formation of oxygen near the anode upon the interaction of gas associates with cluster structure of the water in a metastable state has been revealed.
