Data for the flavonoids of 19 species in 10 sections of Ludwigia are presented. Eight flavonoids, comprising four glycoflavones, of which vitexin and isovitexin are reported for the first time in Ludwigia, and four flavonol glycosides, based on quercetin, are present in these species. Each section treated here has either glycoflavones or flavonols; presence of only onte class is considered to be advanced in the genus as a whole, compared with the presence of both glycoflavones and flavonols in the more generalized sects Myrtocarpus Cinerascentes, and Pterocaulon, which were examined earlier. Only glycoflavones are present in sects Macrocarpon (four species), Seminuda (five species), the ditypic African sect. Africana, the monotypic African sects Brenania, Cryptosperma, and Prieurea, the monotypic east Asian sect. Nipponia, and the monotypic pantropical section Fissendocarpa. Only flavonols are present in the monotypic Old Wodd section Caryophylloidea and sect. Oligospermum, which comprises nine species widespread in the OId and New Worlds. 相似文献

The initiation of hybrid DNA in the b2 spore colour gene was investigated by the analysis of non-Mendelian segregation asci in the progeny of crosses involving several allelic b2 mutations. These analyses showed that, instead of the unique initiation region of hybrid DNA in b2, assumed previously by Paquette and Rossignol (1978), there are multiple sites for hybrid DNA starting. They produce major and minor fractions of hybrid DNA. The major fraction starts upstream of the left end of the gene, propagates rightwards and can cover its entire length. The minor fractions do not span the left b2 end. One of them is detected within the left half of the gene, the others within its right half. 相似文献

The auxin sensitivity of the plasma-membrane H+-ATPase from tobacco leaves (Nicotiana tabacum L. cv. Xanthi) depends on the physiological state of the plant (Santoni et al., 1990, Plant Sci. 68, 33–38). Results based on the study of auxin sensitivity according to culture conditions which accelerate or delay tobacco development demonstrate that the highest auxin sensitivity is always associated with the end of the period of induction to flowering. Auxin stimulation of H+-translocation activity corresponds to an increase of the apparent ATPase affinity for ATP. The plasma-membrane H+-ATPase content, measured with an enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay using a specific anti-H+-ATPase antibody, varies according to plant development, and was found to increase by 100% during floral induction. The specific molecular ATPase activity also changes according to plant development; more particularly, the decrease in molecular ATPase activity upto and during the floral-induction period parallels the increase of sensitivity to indole-3-acetic acid.Abbreviations ELISA

Hybrid DNA Extension and Reciprocal Exchanges: Alternative Issues of an Early Intermediate during Meiotic Recombination? 下载免费PDF全文
Large heterologies in gene b2 strongly increase the frequencies of reciprocal exchanges on their left border, towards the high conversion end. In a previous study, we observed that heterozygous point mutations located in the high conversion end (region F) stimulate the reciprocal exchanges instigated by the large heterology 138. We have defined some properties of this stimulation. The effect does not depend on the nature of the large heterology used. It is effective only with point mutations located on the left side of the large heterology. It does not depend on the number of heterozygosities accumulated in region F. It is not specific on the location of point mutations in region F: it decreases from region F (left end) to region E (middle part of b2). It is correlated with the mismatch correction efficiencies of the point mutations used. It is not observed in the absence of a large heterology. Point mutation heterozygosities which stimulate reciprocal exchanges also decrease the frequency of HDNA formation in gene b2. We propose a model in which reciprocal exchanges on the one hand and hybrid DNA formation on the other hand correspond to alternative processings of a common recombination intermediate. 相似文献

Aedes aegypti mosquitoes salivate during intradermal probing of vertebrate prey before ingesting blood (Griffiths and Gordon 1952). Nonsalivating mosquitoes locate blood more slowly; this difference was ascribed to an anti-platelet activity found in the mosquito's saliva (Ribeiro et al. 1984). Mosquitoes infected with Plasmodium gallinaceum suffer pathology that specifically impairs saliva anti-hemostatic activity but without reducing volume of output (Rossignol et al. 1984). The complexity of the feeding apparatus of mosquitoes provides opportunity for a variety of strategies in which pathogens may produce specific lesions that enhance their transmission, but the variables that affect the duration of probing by mosquitoes have not been defined. We sought to resolve this complexity by identifying and quantifying relevant parameters of probing behavior. Mosquitoes thrust their mouthparts repeatedly through their host's skin while searching for blood. Female A. aegypti thrust at 7-sec intervals. If this search results in success, feeding ensues. Alternatively, the mosquito "desists," the mouthparts stylets are withdrawn, and the mosquito attempts to feed at another site. Even after previous desistance, the probability of finding blood remains undiminished. Functions for the probability of feeding success and desistance over time were derived using data from observations on 300 mosquitoes. The probability of feeding success was interpreted as being a function of the density of vessels in the skin, their geometric distribution, and the conditions locally affecting hemostasis. During each probe, the probability of desisting increased linearly with time, and after desisting once, mosquitoes tended to desist more rapidly. A model was developed incorporating Monte Carlo simulation which closely fit observed data. By changing values for the several parameters of the probability functions, we predicted modes in which parasites may manipulate their hosts to enhance transmission, both to and from the vector. In particular, parasite strategies in the vector would include induced salivary pathology; increased duration of probing thrusts; decreased desistance time; and inhibited phagoreception. Predicted parasite strategies in the reservoir host would include increased skin vascular volume and impaired host hemostasis. ABSTRACT Exoantigens of Trypanosoma cruzi were produced in experimentally infected BALB/c mice. The exoantigens were detected by the counterimmunoelectrophoresis method (CIE), with antisera raised in rabbits by immunization with total homogenates of culture forms of ***T. cruzi in plasma from ***field animals obtained by centrifugation and filtration. Control experiments indicated that exoantigens are not somatic components of T. cruzi leaked during the preparative procedure. Exoantigens were detected in male and female mice, 11-90 days old, between 6 and 60 days of infection, and in all mice with patent parasitemia. After 13 days of infection, mice developed antibodies to exoantigens; by CIE up to three populations of antibodies were revealed in different groups of animals. In mice between 13 and 60 days of infection, the coexistence of exoantigens and homologous antibodies was also observed. The exoantigens are not strain specific since a cross reactivity between antigens from three strains of T. cruzi (Tulahuén, Higueras, and Alejandro) was seen. Finally, the presence of antibodies to exoantigens in humans with chronic Chagas’ disease was demonstrated. 相似文献

The diel mixing patterns of two small floodplain lakes, Lago Jacaretinga in the Amazon drainage, and Lago Cristalino in the Rio Negro system, were investigated during both the high-water and low-water states of the Amazon River hydrograph. Measurements included temperature, oxygen, ammonia, phosphate, and chlorophyll. In both lakes thermal stratification developed during the day and was eroded at night. During the low-water period when the lakes were shallow, nocturnal circulation extended to the lake bottom, whereas when the lakes were deeper (greater than about 5 m), circulation did not reach the bottom and an anoxic hypolimnion developed. During the low-water period, percent of oxygen concentrations were relatively high but always less than saturation. Low oxygen concentrations were observed during the high-water period. At all times nocturnal mixing supplied a significant amount of oxygen to the lake ecosystems. Nighttime upward mixing of recycled nitrogen and phosphorus also appeared to be important nutrient sources for algal productivity. 相似文献
