During initial several minutes after fertilization, sea urchin eggs exhibited high rate of respiration which was only slightly inhibited by cyanide. This cyanide-insensitive respiration was inhibited by calcium antagonists, diltiazem and verapamil, and calmodulin antagonists, N-(6-aminohexyl)-5-chloro-1-naphthalensulfonamide hydrochloride (W-7), N-(6-aminohexyl)-1-naphthalenesulfonamide hydrochloride (W-5) and chlorpromazine, which were added within 1 min after insemination. The inhibitory effect of W-7 on cyanide-insensitive respiration was higher than that of W-5. Cyanide-sensitive respiration of fertilized eggs observed after this initial period was not inhibited by these compounds. Ca2+ influx in eggs just after fertilization was inhibited by calcium antagonists but was rather enhanced by calmodulin antagonists. Fertilization-induced stimulation of cyanide-insensitive respiration probably results from calmodulin-dependent reactions which are activated by Ca2+ influx.  相似文献

Six polymorphic microsatellite loci were isolated for genetic structure studies of the Japanese Spanish mackerel, Scomberomorus niphonius, a severely exploited marine fish species. The number of observed alleles for each locus ranged from seven to 41, and the values of expected and observed heterozygosities were 0.546–0.946 and 0.602–1.000, respectively. These microsatellite markers should prove to be a useful tool for estimating the population genetic structure and genetic variability of Japanese Spanish mackerel.  相似文献

The study was undertaken to investigate the effectiveness of anhydrous NH3, aqueous NH4OH and urea + urease as sources of ammonia for treating maize stover, rice and wheat straws at graded treatment rates of 0, 25 and 50 g NH3/kg DM of roughage and at two moisture levels of 20 and 40% in all combinations in improving dry matter digestibility in vitro (IVDMD), organic matter digestibility in vitro (IVOMD) and crude protein (CP) contents when allowed to react for 15 or 30 days.Rate of ammonia was the most important factor in enhancing IVDMD, IVOMD and CP. Moisture level and days of reaction had a less important influence on the parameters measured. While anhydrous NH3 was most effective in improving IVDMD and IVOMD of maize stover, aqueous NH4OH had a similar effect in increasing IVDMD and IVOMD of rice and wheat straws and urea + urease was the least effective but promising. Highest responses in IVDMD and IVOMD were obtained with rice straw, followed by wheat straw and, lastly, maize stover.In a second experiment maize stover which was treated with aqueous NH4OH at 0, 25 and 50 g NH3/kg DM at two moisture levels of 20 and 40% was given to Black Headed Persian rams. Digestibility of DM and OM and voluntary feed intake were improved significantly (P < 0.01) by ammonia treatment and there was also a significant (P < 0.01) response to increasing moisture levels.  相似文献

We assessed the adaptiveness of refraining from infanticidal probing at the third attack under triple parasitism in the parasitoid Echthrodelphaxfairchildii Perkins, by comparing fitness returns from the third attack with and without probing. Fitness returns were assessed in terms of the survival rate, mean developmental time, and mean adult head width of the progenies. Not probing was maladaptive under triple parasitism with oviposition intervals of 1/24 and 24/24 hours (where the numbers before and after the slash refer to the first-to-second and second-to-third oviposition intervals, respectively), although no significant difference was detected in fitness returns for oviposition intervals of 24/1 hours. We suggest that the cost of probing (especially the decrease in the chance of future ovipositions) is a reason for the seemingly maladaptive absence of probing.  相似文献

Hypocotyls, cotyledons and etiolated half-expanded leaves ofCucumismelo‘Green Delica’ were used as explants for protoplastisolation and culture. Protoplasts isolated from cotyledonsand etiolated half-expanded leaves cultured in Durand, Potrykusand Donn (DPD) medium supplemented with 0.9 µMbenzylaminopurine(BAP), 3.6 µM2,4-dichlorophenoxyacetic acid (2,4-D) and1% sucrose, using the agarose bead culture method, were ableto form cell walls and subsequently go through cell division.Pretreatment of half-expanded leaf explants in the dark for14 d provided the best material for protoplast isolation andcell division. Approximately one third of protoplasts from etiolatedhalf-expanded leaves formed microcolonies. For hypocotyl protoplasts,none of the treatments used were suitable to induce cell division.There was no significant difference between sucrose, glucose,and sucrose plus glucose, in culture media on the plating efficiencyof leaf protoplasts ofC. melo‘Green Delica’; however,bigger colonies were formed in media supplemented with 1% sucrose.No shoot or whole plant regeneration was achieved.
