Proliferative response of splenic lymphocytes from adult (2 months old) male mice to human luteotrophic hormone (hLH) was studied in vitro. hLH induced lymphoblastic transformation at a concentration of 0.1 micrograms/ml or higher. This hormone potentiated the mitogen activities of concanavalin A (ConA) and phytohemagglutinin (PHA) for T cells and of pokweed mitogen for B and T cells. The data suggest that peripherally circulating LH may regulate a certain function of lymphoid cells.  相似文献

Irradiation by pulsed microwaves (9.4 GHz, 1 microsecond pulses at 1,000/s), both with and without concurrent amplitude modulation (AM) by a sinusoid at discrete frequencies between 14 and 41 MHz, was assessed for effects on the immune system of Balb/C mice. The mice were immunized either by sheep red blood cells (SRBC) or by glutaric-anhydride conjugated bovine serum albumin (GA-BSA), then exposed to the microwaves at a low rms power density (30 microW/cm2; whole-body-averaged SAR approximately 0.015 W/kg). Sham exposure or microwave irradiation took place during each of five contiguous days, 10 h/day. The antibody response was evaluated by the plaque-forming cell assay (SRBC experiment) or by the titration of IgM and IgG antibodies (GA-BSA experiment). In the absence of AM, the pulsed field did not greatly alter immune responsiveness. In contrast, exposure to the field under the combined-modulation condition resulted in significant, AM-frequency-dependent augmentation or weakening of immune responses.  相似文献

A suspension of 10(7) melanoma cells, submitted to microwave hyperthermia (2,450 MHz, 20 minutes, 44 degrees C) leads to a partial protection in mice inoculated 26 days afterwards with a suspension of 10(7) active cells of B16 melanoma (95% vitality). The period of 26 days between the two injections corresponds to the moment where the sera antibodies have an highest level. The kinetics of the primary response of the humoral immunity shows that B16 melanoma proliferation and number of deads can be related to an hypogammaglobulinemia.  相似文献

Intraperitoneal administration of the mycotoxin penitrem A 30 min before a training session in passive avoidance task, impaired performance of rats subjected to a test-session 24 h after. This effect was not antagonised by pretraining administration of physostigmine or bicuculline. Administration of penitrem A 20 min before a training session or 30 min before a test-session did not impair performance. In the Morris water maze, doses of penitrem A that induces slight to moderate tremors, but not a lower dose, disrupted place learning. These results suggest that penitrem A disrupts the processes that take place at the time of acquisition, but not those just after acquisition, and does not alter the restitution of information. This effect would not be related to a decrease of cholinergic neurotransmission nor to a stimulation of GABA A receptors. Nevertheless, it could not be totally excluded that the performance impairments induced by penitrem A would be secondary to a motor disruption. The effects of vitamin E (deficiency or supplementation) on the non-specific immune system in rainbow trout, Oncorhynchus mykiss, were evaluated. Rainbow trout were fed daily a semi-purified diet supplemented with vitamin E at 0, 28 and 295 mg x kg(-1) of diet. After 80 days of experimental feeding, the phagocytic function (respiratory burst evaluated by the CL response, phagocytosis) from gut leucocytes and head kidney enriched macrophages was measured; head kidney cell pinocytosis and serum lysozyme activity were also analysed. The results showed that some phagocyte functions were influenced by dietary vitamin E. When fish were fed the high dietary dose of vitamin E an enhancement of phagocytosis was found, but only significantly for the leucocytes isolated from the gut of rainbow trout; moreover, an impaired response was also observed in the fish fed no vitamin E for 80 days. However, no significant differences were noticed on the oxidative burst (CL) response of both gut and head kidney cells according to the dietary dose of vitamin E. Pinocytosis evaluated on head kidney cells was not influenced by dietary vitamin E. Fish fed vitamin E at 295 mg x kg(-1) had a lower serum lysozyme activity than those fed with vitamin E at 28 mg x kg(-1) and the fish fed no vitamin E for 80 days had an impaired activity. Thus, the present results demonstrate that altered dietary levels of vitamin E modulates the phagocytic functions of gut leucocytes in rainbow trout; moreover, the vitamin E diet effect seems to be greater on the local intestinal response as compared to systemic (head kidney). Taken together, this study confirms the crucial role of gut phagocytes in mucosal non-lymphoid defences in fish.  相似文献

An injection of a suspension of B16 melanoma cell membranes, treated with micro-wave hyperthermia, increases the survival time of mice inoculated 26 days after with 10(7) (viability greater than 95%) of B16 melanoma. This delay (26 days) between these two injections corresponds to the moment where the synthesis of sera anticorps (IgG, IgA, IgM) is increased in "protected" mice. The earliest death of animals injected with untreated tumoral cell membranes and who received a suspension of B16 melanoma cells can be explained by an inhibition of humoral immunity system.  相似文献
