The presence of a bimodal karyotype in Cynomorium coccineum (2n = 28) is used to support its separation from Balanophoraceae and the maintenance of Cynomoriaceae as a separate family.  相似文献

A supernumerary chromosome and its behaviour during meiosis is described in the parasitic herb Cuscuta babylonica Choisy (2n = 8 + 1B). This species is characterized by holocentric chromosome behaviour, and the occurrence of a supernumerary here is considered noteworthy.  相似文献

Precise synapsis is an essential condition for maintaining regular meiosis. Many permanent hybrids and polyploids in which meiosis is unbalanced rely on alternative reproductive systems. In Orobanchaceae, irregular meiosis seems to be the rule, and alternative means of reproduction are suggested, involving parthenogenesis and pseudogamy.  相似文献

Regreening was observed and measured in harvested pummelo fruit stored in the light. At temperatures of 22 - 28°C, regular daylight was sufficient for regreening to occur. The addition of continuous fluorescent light intensified the process. Pre-stored fruit held in darkness at 11°C and non-stored fruit responded to both light conditions in a similar manner. Electron microscopy has shown that globular chromoplasts revert to chloroplasts during regreening. The similarities between regreening processes in preharvest and postharvest fruits are discussed.  相似文献

In an attempt to find any association between chromosomal characters and parasitism, a cytological study of parasitic flowering plants in Israel has been carried out. While no such association was found, evidence for three levels of chromosome evolution could be discerned: intra-chromosomal modifications, polyploidy per se , and genome restructuring in polyploids. Our conclusions may serve as a paradigm of the multiple pathways of chromosomal evolution in plants in general. © 2002 The Linnean Society of London, Botanical Journal of the Linnean Society , 138 , 117–122.  相似文献
