Whole-body vibration (WBV), which is widely used as a type of exercise, involves the use of vibratory stimuli and it is used for rehabilitation and sports performance programmes. This study aimed to investigate the effect of WBV treatment in a chronic pain model after 10 WBV sessions. An animal model (chronic pain) was applied in 60 male Wistar rats (±180 g, 12 weeks old) and the animals were treated with low intensity exercise (treadmill), WBV (vibrating platform), and a combined treatment involving both. The controls on the platform were set to a frequency of 42 Hz with 2 mm peak-to-peak displacement, g ≈ 7, in a spiral mode. Before and after the vibration exposure, sensitivity was determined. Aβ-fibers-mediated mechanical sensitivity thresholds (touch-pressure) were measured using a pressure meter. C-fibers-mediated thermal perception thresholds (hot pain) were measured with a hot plate. After each session, WBV influenced the discharge of skin touch-pressure receptors, reducing mechanical sensitivity in the WBV groups (P < 0.05). Comparing the conditions “before vs. after”, thermal perception thresholds (hot pain) started to decrease significantly after the third WBV session (P < 0.05). WBV decreases mechanical hyperalgesia after all sessions and thermal sensitivity after the third session with the use of WBV. 相似文献

Background and Aims
Several strains of rhizobacteria may be found in the rhizospheric soil, on the root surface or in association with rice plants. These bacteria are able to colonize plant root systems and promote plant growth and crop yield through a variety of mechanisms. The objectives of this study were to isolate, identify, and characterize putative plant growth-promoting rhizobacteria (PGPR) associated with rice cropped in different areas of southern Brazil.Methods
Bacterial strains were selectively isolated based on their growth on three selective semi-solid nitrogen-free media. Bacteria were identified at the genus level by PCR-RFLP 16S rRNA gene analysis and partial sequencing methodologies. Bacterial isolates were evaluated for their ability to produce indolic compounds and siderophores and to solubilize phosphate. In vitro biological nitrogen fixation and the ability to produce 1-aminocyclopropane-1-carboxylate deaminase were evaluated for each bacterial isolate used in the inoculation experiments.Results
In total, 336 bacterial strains were isolated representing 31 different bacterial genera. Strains belonging to the genera Agrobacterium, Burkholderia, Enterobacter, and Pseudomonas were the most prominent isolates. Siderophore and indolic compounds producers were widely found among isolates, but 101 isolates were able to solubilize phosphate. Under gnotobiotic conditions, eight isolates were able to stimulate the growth of rice plants. Five of these eight isolates were also field tested in rice plants subjected to different nitrogen fertilization rates.Conclusions
The results showed that the condition of half-fertilization plus separate inoculation with the isolates AC32 (Herbaspirillum sp.), AG15 (Burkholderia sp.), CA21 (Pseudacidovorax sp.), and UR51 (Azospirillum sp.) achieved rice growth similar to those achieved by full-fertilization without inoculation, thus highlighting the potential of these strains for formulating new bioinoculants for rice crops. 相似文献3.

Karyotypes in the worldwide subfamily Oecanthinae show variations in diploid number, chromosome morphology, and sex-chromosome system. This study described the chromosome set and phylogenetic relationships of four Neotropical species, Oecanthus lineolatus, O. valensis, O. pallidus, and O. pictus. We used classical cytogenetics and Bayesian Inference for phylogenetic reconstruction, using the mitochondrial genes COI, 12S rRNA, and 16S rRNA; and analyzed the phylogenetic patterns of changes in chromosome numbers, using ChromEvol. We observed differences in chromosome number among species and two different sex-chromosome systems. Oecanthus pictus showed 2n = 21, X0♂/22, XX♀; O. lineolatus, 2n = 20, XY♂/XX♀; and O. valensis and O. pallidus, 2n = 18, XY♂/XX♀. The karyotype of Oecanthus was asymmetric, one group with large chromosomes and variation in heterochromatin distribution, and another with small acrocentric chromosomes. The phylogenetic tree recovered two main groups: one with the Palearctic species and another with species from different bioregions, but with low posterior probability. The Neotropical species grouped separately, O. valensis and O. pictus with Nearctic and Ethiopian species, and O. pallidus and O. lineolatus in another, well-supported clade. Ketamine, an antagonist of N‐methyl‐d ‐aspartate receptors, has produced rapid antidepressant effects in patients with depression, as well as in animal models. However, the extent and duration of the antidepressant effect over longer periods of time has not been considered. This study evaluated the effects of single dose of ketamine on behavior and oxidative stress, which is related to depression, in the brains of adult rats subjected to maternal deprivation. Deprived and nondeprived Wistar rats were divided into four groups nondeprived + saline; nondeprived + S‐ketamine (15 mg/kg); deprived + saline; deprived + S‐ketamine (15 mg/kg). A single dose of ketamine or saline was administrated during the adult phase, and 14 days later depressive‐like behavior was assessed. In addition, lipid damage, protein damage, and antioxidant enzyme activities were evaluated in the rat brain. Maternal deprivation induces a depressive‐like behavior, as verified by an increase in immobility and anhedonic behavior. However, a single dose of ketamine was able to reverse these alterations, showing long‐term antidepressant effects. The brains of maternally deprived rats had an increase in protein oxidative damage and lipid peroxidation, but administration of a single dose of ketamine reversed this damage. The activities of antioxidant enzymes superoxide dismutase and catalase were reduced in the deprived rat brains. However, ketamine was also able to reverse these changes. In conclusion, these findings indicate that a single dose of ketamine is able to induce long‐term antidepressant effects and protect against neural damage caused by oxidative stress in adulthood rats following maternal deprivation. © 2015 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. growth. This study was done under the greenhouse conditions to determine the effect of soil flooding on the chlorophyll fluorescence
of some hybrids of canola (Brassica napus L.). Fifty five days old plants were subjected to flooding for six days. There was no difference in the parameters modulate
chlorophyll fluorescence, in contrast, some the parameters related to the energy flux in photosystem II varied due to flooding
stress. At the end of the six days, the performance indexes (PItotal and PIABS) decreased, in all hybrids except in ‘Hyola 420’. The difference kinetics of the chlorophyll a fluorescence transient showed different effects on different sites of the photosynthetic machinery. It could be concluded

Background and Aims
This study was aimed at assessing the diversity of putatively diazotrophic rhizobacteria associated with sunflower (Helianthus annuus L.) cropped in the south of Brazil, and to examine key plant growth promotion (PGP) characteristics of the isolates for the purposes of increasing plant productivity.Methods
299 strains were isolated from the roots and rhizosphere of sunflower cultivated in five different areas using N-free media. 16S rDNA PCR-RFLP and 16S rRNA partial sequencing were used for identification and the Shannon index was used to evaluate bacterial diversity. Production of siderophores and indolic compounds (ICs), as well phosphate solubilization activities of each isolate were also evaluated in vitro. On the basis of multiple PGP activities, eight isolates were selected and tested for their N-fixation ability, and their capacity as potential PGPR on sunflower plants was also assessed.Results
All except three Gram-positive strains (phylum Actinobacteria) belonged to the Gram-negative Proteobacteria subgroups [Gamma (167), Beta (78), and Alpha (50)] and the family Flavobacteriaceae (1)]. Shannon indexes ranged from 0.96 to 2.13 between the five sampling sites. Enterobacter and Burkholderia were the predominant genera isolated from roots and rhizosphere, respectively. Producers of siderophores and ICs were widely found amongst the isolates, but only 19.8% of them solubilized phosphate. About 8% of the isolates exhibited all three PGP traits, and these mostly belonged to the genus Burkholderia. Four isolates were able to stimulate the growth of sunflower plants under gnotobiotic conditions.Conclusions
Enterobacter and Burkholderia were the dominant rhizospheric bacterial genera associated with sunflower plants. Inoculation with isolates belonging to the genera Achromobacter, Chryseobacterium, Azospirillum, and Burkholderia had a stimulatory effect on plant growth. 相似文献7.

Deficiency of 3-methylcrotonyl-CoA carboxylase activity is an inherited metabolic disease biochemically characterized by accumulation
and high urinary excretion of 3-methylcrotonylglycine (3MCG), and also of 3-hydroisovalerate in lesser amounts. Affected patients
usually have neurologic dysfunction, brain abnormalities and cardiomyopathy, whose pathogenesis is still unknown. The present
study investigated the in vitro effects of 3MCG on important parameters of energy metabolism, including CO2 production from labeled acetate, enzyme activities of the citric acid cycle, as well as of the respiratory chain complexes
I–IV (oxidative phosphorylation), creatine kinase (intracellular ATP transfer), and synaptic Na+,K+-ATPase (neurotransmission) in brain cortex of young rats. 3MCG significantly reduced CO2 production, implying that this compound compromises citric acid cycle activity. Furthermore, 3MCG diminished the activities
of complex II-III of the respiratory chain, mitochondrial creatine kinase and synaptic membrane Na+,K+-ATPase. Furthermore, antioxidants were able to attenuate or fully prevent the inhibitory effect of 3MCG on creatine kinase
and synaptic membrane Na+,K+-ATPase activities. We also observed that lipid peroxidation was elicited by 3MCG, suggesting the involvement of free radicals
on 3MCG-induced effects. Considering the importance of the citric acid cycle and the electron flow through the respiratory
chain for brain energy production, creatine kinase for intracellular energy transfer, and Na+,K+-ATPase for the maintenance of the cell membrane potential, the present data indicate that 3MCG potentially impairs mitochondrial
brain energy homeostasis and neurotransmission. It is presumed that these pathomechanisms may be involved in the neurological

Medium-chain acyl-CoA dehydrogenase deficiency (MCADD) is the most frequent disorder of fatty acid oxidation with a similar prevalence to that of phenylketonuria. Affected patients present tissue accumulation of the medium-chain fatty acids octanoate (OA), decanoate (DA) and cis-4-decenoate. Clinical presentation is characterized by neurological symptoms, such as convulsions and lethargy that may develop into coma and sudden death. The aim of the present work was to investigate the in vitro effect of OA and DA, the metabolites that predominantly accumulate in MCADD, on oxidative stress parameters in rat cerebral cortex homogenates. It was first verified that both DA and OA significantly increased chemiluminescence and thiobarbituric acid-reactive species levels (lipoperoxidation) and decreased the non-enzymatic antioxidant defenses, measured by the decreased total antioxidant capacity. DA also enhanced carbonyl content and oxidation of sulfhydryl groups (protein damage) and decreased reduced glutathione (GSH) levels. We also verified that DA-induced GSH decrease and sulfhydryl oxidation were not observed when cytosolic preparations (membrane-free supernatants) were used, suggesting a mitochondrial mechanism for these actions. Our present data show that the medium-chain fatty acids DA and OA that most accumulate in MCADD cause oxidative stress in rat brain. It is therefore presumed that this pathomechanism may be involved in the pathophysiology of the neurologic symptoms manifested by patients affected by MCADD. 相似文献

The genome sequence of the pathogen Xylella fastidiosa Citrus Variegated Chlorosis (CVC) strain 9a5c has revealed many genes related to pathogenicity mechanisms and virulence determinants. However, strain 9a5c is resistant to genetic transformation, impairing mutant production for the analysis of pathogenicity mechanisms and virulence determinants of this fastidious phytopathogen. By screening different strains, we found out that cloned strains J1a12, B111, and S11400, all isolated from citrus trees affected by CVC, are amenable to transformation, and J1a12 has been used as a model strain in a functional genomics program supported by FAPESP (São Paulo State Research Foundation). However, we have found that strain J1a12, unlike strains 9a5c and B111, was incapable of inducing CVC symptoms when inoculated in citrus plants. We have now determined that strain B111 is an appropriate candidate for post-genome studies of the CVC strain of X. fastidiosa. 相似文献
