Thermal treatment of short‐chain oligopeptides is able to initiate the process of their self‐assembly with the formation of organic nanostructures with unique properties. On the other hand, heating can lead to a chemical reaction with the formation of new substances with specific properties and ability to form structures with different morphology. Therefore, in order to have a desired process, researcher needs to find its temperature range. In the present work, cyclization of L‐isoleucyl‐L‐alanine dipeptide in the solid state upon heating was studied. Kinetic parameters of this reaction were estimated within the approaches of the nonisothermal kinetics. The correlation between side chain structure of dipeptides and temperature of their cyclization in the solid state was found for the first time. This correlation may be used to predict the temperature, at which dipeptide self‐assembly changes to chemical reaction. The differences in self‐assembly of linear and cyclic dipeptides were demonstrated using atomic force microscopy. The effect of dipeptide concentration in a source solution and an organic solvent used on self‐assembly of dipeptides was shown. The new information obtained on the thermal properties and self‐assembly of linear and cyclic forms of L‐isoleucyl‐L‐alanine may be useful for the design of new nanomaterials based on oligopeptides, as well as for the synthesis of cyclic oligopeptides.  相似文献

This review summarizes data on alginates, polysaccharides isolated from brown algae. Their raw sources, chemical structure, and physical–chemical properties are discussed briefly. This paper is mainly focused on the physiological activity and usage of alginates in food and pharmaceutical industries. The data on alginate toxicity and necessary safety measures are also presented. The capability of alginates to bind and eliminate heavy metals and radionuclides from animal and human organisms is discussed. This paper also deals with the effects of alginates on the metabolism of lipids, carbohydrates, etc., and their usage in medicine, dietetics, and biotechnology.  相似文献

Postreplication DNA repair (PRR) in UV-irradiated Escherichia coli WP2 uvrA (tryptophan-dependent strain) and K12 AB1886 uvrA6 pre-irradiated by gamma-rays in low doses (radioadaptation, the first stress effect) has been investigated. PRR was found to be more effective after incubation in the growth medium (for 45-60 min) than in non-radioadapted cells: the repair of postreplication gaps increased by 6-15%. If cells of WP2 uvrA strain were incubated after UV-irradiation in media lacking tryptophan or casamin acids (the second stress effect), PRR was seen to increase as early as within 15 min of incubation and it is more effective than at the first stress. After a 30-60 min incubation the double stress effect leads to an increase in postreplication gap repair by 23-45%. In this case almost all the gaps prove to be repaired. The second stress alone exerts no influence on PPR efficiency. It is supposed that a preliminary radioadaptation may stimulate synthesis of a protein (proteins) of the SOS-response (presumably DNA polymerase V). The second stress effect apparently induces synthesis of an unknown factor (or depreesses synthesis of a MmrA-like protein), and this in cooperation with a protein newly synthesized during radioadaptation significantly increases the efficiency of PPR.  相似文献

The ability of highly ordered tripeptide structures to keep or change their morphology in contact with organic vapors was studied. A thin film of tripeptide l ‐leucyl‐l ‐leucyl‐l ‐leucine (LLL) was prepared having microcrystals and nanocrystals on its surface, which are stable upon vacuum drying but become objects of selective morphology change after a contact with vapors of organic solvents. Fine separate LLL crystals and their agglomerates of submicron and larger dimensions were observed by atomic force microscopy and scanning electron microscopy. After saturation with guest vapors, these crystals can remain intact or change their morphology with the increase in size or complete destruction depending on the guest molecular structure. The crystals completely lose their shape after the binding of pyridine vapors. The other studied guests produce much smaller transformations or have no effect on crystal morphology despite being sorbed by solid LLL, which was shown using quartz crystal microbalance sensor. The observed size‐exclusion effect for guest sorption by LLL was found to be broken by the same guests that can change the initial crystal shape. In UV-irradiated E. coli WP2 uvrA, deficient in excision repair of DNA with pyrimidine dimers, gamma-irradiation in low doses (radioadaptation) before UV-irradiation leads to the intensification of postreplication repair of DNA. This process in WP2 uvrA polA and uvrA lexA mutants is less than in WP2 uvrA cells, but in WP2 uvrA recA both postreplication repair and its radioadaptive intensification are absent. In E. coli AB1157 excising pyrimidine dimers the radioadaptive intensification of postreplication repair of DNA is expressed almost to the same extent as in WP2 uvrA. In GW2100 umuC mutant, deficient in DNA polymerase V, postreplication repair of DNA is expressed, but its radioadaptive intensification is absent, while in AB2463 recA13 both postreplication repair of DNA and radioadaptive intensification of postreplication repair of DNA are absent. The above data suggest that DNA polymerase I and LexA protein are needed for radioadaptive intensification of postreplication repair of DNA in uvrA strain, and DNA polymerase V is needed for radioadaptive intensification in E. coli AB1157, and that RecA protein is required for postreplication repair and radioadaptive intensification of postreplication repair of DNA.  相似文献

Two series of novel pyridoxine-based azaheterocyclic analogs of feruloyl methane (Dehydrozingerone, DZG) were synthesized, and their biological activity against a panel of tumor and normal cell lines was evaluated in vitro. The most active compounds possessed expressed cytotoxic activity, which was comparable to cytotoxic activity of doxorubicin and significantly higher than that of DZG, and a remarkable selectivity for the studied cancer cell lines as compared to the normal cells. The leading compound and DZG initiated arrest of the cell cycle in the G2/M phase, preventing normal division and further transition of daughter cells to the G0/G1 phase. Similar to DZG, but with higher efficiency, the leading compound was able to inhibit migration activity and, therefore, invasiveness of tumor cells. It also increased concentration of reactive oxygen species in tumor cells, induced depolarization of mitochondrial membranes and initiated apoptosis accompanied by disruption of integrity of cytoplasmic cell membranes. By contrast to DZG, the leading compound did not possess antioxidant properties. The obtained data make the described chemotype a promising starting point for the development of new anticancer agents.  相似文献

The influence of dimephosphone at concentrations of 0.001 M-0.75 M on the chemiluminescence of tissues at the focus of purulent infection in the ear of a guinea pig, on the survival rate of the experimental animals injected with the lethal dose of Staphylococcus aureus, as well as on the spontaneous and stimulated chemiluminescence of blood neutrophils in patients with wound infection, was studied. The study showed that different concentrations of dimephosphone oppositely influenced the intensity of the chemiluminescence of neutrophil suspensions and tissues at the focus of infection: low concentrations were found to produce stimulating action and high concentrations, suppressive action. At the highest concentration used in this study (0.75 M) dimephosphone prevented the death of the animals receiving lethal doses of S. aureus.  相似文献
