Adsorption/desorption of toluene on montmorillonite, illite, and kaolinite was studied using the batch equilibrium method. The isotherms measured fit the Freundlich equation (r2 >0.95). Montmorillonite adsorbed more toluene than illite or kaolinite; the adsorption of toluene on illite and kaolinite was not significantly different. Adsorption of toluene by montmorillonite showed an exponential increase as the ratio of toluene to clay was increased from 5 to 100. The rate studies showed that 62% of the adsorption was completed within 6 h. A rapid desorption was observed initially, followed by slow desorption after 1 h. The desorption rate decreased as the time of adsorption was increased. Almost all of the adsorbed toluene was extracted with water from the clay when the adsorption time was 0.1 h, but only 61% of the toluene could be desorbed when the adsorption time was 24 h.  相似文献

To explore the effect of exogenic dissolved organic matter (DOM) on Cu(II) sorption in agricultural soils, 26 agricultural soils were collected across China. Exogenic dissolved organic matter, extracting from wheat straw (DOMW) and swine manure (DOMS), respectively, were added to the soils to conduct a series of batch sorption and characterization experiments. The solid-liquid partition coefficient (Kd) ranged from 0.02 to 76.46 L g?1, suggesting different Cu(II) sorption on various soils. PCA analysis indicated that pH, free Fe/Al oxides, carbon, and total Cu content had a significant positive relationship with the Cu(II) sorption, respectively. And the contribution rate of pH was the highest (38.15%). Moreover, DOM markedly inhibited the Cu(II) sorption in alkaline soils while promoted the Cu(II) sorption in acidic soils, which were interacted by the soil properties and DOM characteristics. The effect of DOMS on Cu(II) sorption were more obvious than DOMW, which were further confirmed by Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy. FTIR also showed Cu(II) was primarily adsorbed on the specific functional groups, such as CO, OH, and CO, providing direct evidences for the binding of Cu(II) with DOM. This study can guide the rational use of organic fertilizers, and also provide baseline knowledge for the prevention and control of soil pollution.  相似文献

Carbon stable isotopes (??13C) of particulate organic matter (POM) are useful indicators for tracking the sources of organic matter, CO2 concentrations, primary productivity and the trophic base in lakes. Here we provide a synthesis of literature data from 228 lakes around the world to assess the distribution pattern of ??13CPOM along latitudinal, morphometric and biogeochemical gradients, and the feasibility of utilizing ??13CPOM as an indicator for lake metabolism. Results from this analysis revealed a large variation in ??13CPOM among lakes with a range from ?46.2 to ?13.0?? and a median of ?29.7??. The ??13CPOM generally decreased from low to high latitude along with the decreases in total phosphorus (TP), pH, lake size and the increases in partial pressure of CO2. The combination of these factors may play a significant role in shaping the pattern of ??13CPOM distribution. A multiple regression model using matching data (n?=?92 lakes) indicated that latitude, lake size and TP concentration were the important factors determining ??13CPOM, although only 25% of the variance in ??13CPOM was explained by the model. Compared to the average ??13C value (?27??) of terrestrial plants, 165 lakes (72%) in this analysis were isotopically depleted in ??13CPOM, with a mean of ?31.5??, which is indicative of an allochthonous contribution of terrestrial organic matter. This finding is consistent with the view that the majority of lakes in the world receive a terrestrial subsidy of carbon and are sources of CO2 to the atmosphere.  相似文献

Pharmaceuticals residues in the environment have become a growing scientific interest worldwide. In the light of the possible harmful effects of tobramycin, a rapid and sensitive analytical method for determination of tobramycin in soil was developed. The extraction and purification methods, derivatization conditions, and chromatographic conditions in the determination of tobramycin in soil have been fully investigated. Extraction was carried out by a combination of vortex mixer and ultrasonic oscillation using acetone/water as the extraction agent. The extract was concentrated to 1 mL and passed through the C(18) SPE cartridge rinsed with water (3 mL), methanol (3 mL). The derivatization procedure was followed by the reaction of tobramycin with 4-Chloro-3,5-dinitrobenzotrifluoride at 60°C for 10 min in pH 9.0 H(3)BO(3)-Na(2)B(4)O(7) medium. The labeled tobramycin was determined by high performance liquid chromatography at 245 nm. Separation was accomplished within 15 min in gradient elution mode with trifluoroacetic acid in mobile phase as ion-pair reagent. The correlation coefficient for the method was 0.9999 in concentrations ranging from 0.10 to 100.0 μg/g. The limit of detection was 0.02 μg/g for tobramycin in soil at a signal-to-noise ratio of 3. The calculated recoveries of the proposed method were from 78.0 to 91.0% and RSDs were 3.38-9.79% in the application to the quantitative determination of tobramycin in all types of soil. The method will help to establish adequate monitoring of tobramycin residue in soil and make the contribution to environmental behavior evaluation.  相似文献

Riemerella anatipestifer causes epizootics of infectious disease in poultry that result in serious economic losses to the duck industry. Our previous studies have shown that some strains of R. anatipestifer can form a biofilm, and this may explain the intriguing persistence of R. anatipestifer on duck farms post infection. In this study we used strain CH3, a strong producer of biofilm, to construct a library of random Tn4351 transposon mutants in order to investigate the genetic basis of biofilm formation by R. anatipestifer on abiotic surfaces. A total of 2,520 mutants were obtained and 39 of them showed a reduction in biofilm formation of 47%-98% using crystal violet staining. Genetic characterization of the mutants led to the identification of 33 genes. Of these, 29 genes are associated with information storage and processing, as well as basic cellular processes and metabolism; the function of the other four genes is currently unknown. In addition, a mutant strain BF19, in which biofilm formation was reduced by 98% following insertion of the Tn4351 transposon at the dihydrodipicolinate synthase (dhdps) gene, was complemented with a shuttle plasmid pCP-dhdps. The complemented mutant strain was restored to give 92.6% of the biofilm formation of the wild-type strain CH3, which indicates that the dhdp gene is associated with biofilm formation. It is inferred that such complementation applies also to other mutant strains. Furthermore, some biological characteristics of biofilm-defective mutants were investigated, indicating that the genes deleted in the mutant strains function in the biofilm formation of R. anatipestifer. Deletion of either gene will stall the biofilm formation at a specific stage thus preventing further biofilm development. In addition, the tested biofilm-defective mutants had different adherence capacity to Vero cells. This study will help us to understand the molecular mechanisms of biofilm development by R. anatipestifer and to study the pathogenesis of R. anatipestifer further.  相似文献
