A new snake-eel,Apterichtus keramanus, is described on the basis of a single 276-mm TL specimen trawled from the coast of Kerama Islands, Okinawa Prefecture, Japan. The species is unique in the genus in having the posterior nostril opening entirely inside the mouth and a dark band running from the anteroventral margin of the eye to the upper lip.  相似文献

The linearity of the stress-strain relationship for food gel is limited to a very narrow range of the strain (usually less than 0.1 as a Cauchy measure). The reason is thought due to the change in cross-sectional area of the gel upon deformation. In this report, the cross-sectional area was approximately corrected of the compressed gel on the assumption that the gel expanded uniformly without changing its volume upon compression. In cases when the initial Young’s modulus was calculated from the thus-corrected area for some food gels, the linearity was increased for a wider range of strain.  相似文献

Kinetics of the change of photosystem (PS) composition in cyanobacteriainduced by chromatic light were studied in relation to cellproliferation. The study was made for two unicellular strains,Synechococcus NIBB 1059 and Synechocystis (Aphanocapsa) PCC6714. We found that (1) the change to a higher or lower PS I/IIratio was due to acceleration or suppression of apparent PSI formation, and (2) it progressed on a similar time scale tothat of the cell proliferation. The apparent rate constant ofthe change in the PS I/II ratio was proportional to that ofcell proliferation, µ, when this was low, but at highvalues of µ the increase in the rate constant of the changein the PS I/II ratio became smaller, causing a deviation fromthe linear relationship. Results indicate that under autotrophicconditions, the photoregulated composition change occurs asa result of thylakoid development, which accompanies cell proliferation. Porcine thymus cytosol contains two immunologically distinct forms of diacylglycerol kinase (DGK) [Yamada, K. and Kanoh, H. (1988) Biochem. J. 255, 601-608]. These 2 DGK species, having apparent molecular masses of 80 and 150 kDa, were purified from the thymus cytosol. Upon sodium dodecyl sulfate-polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis, the 150-kDa DGK gave 2 polypeptide bands of 50 and 75 kDa, whereas the 80-kDa DGK yielded a single protein band. The 80-kDa DGK was markedly activated by 10-20 microM sphingosine as well as by the known anionic activators such as phosphatidylserine and deoxycholate. In contrast, the 150-kDa DGK was fully active in the absence of the anionic activators and was strongly inhibited by sphingosine (IC50, 20 microM). The putative DGK inhibitor R59022 inhibited the 80-kDa DGK (IC50, 10 microM), but had little effect on the 150-kDa form. It is therefore clear that in the thymus cytosol there are at least 2 DGK isozymes operating under different control mechanisms.  相似文献

Stability of thylakoid components under supra-high irradiancewas studied with the cyanophyte Synechocystis PCC 6714. Theactivity of overall photosynthesis was quickly inactivated (T1/2=20min) under supra-high irradiance (300 W m–2, white light).In parallel with the inactivation of photosynthesis, QA in PSII was also inactivated. Both inactivations were acceleratedby chloramphenicol (CAP) addition. The reactivation of PS IIrequired weak irradiation and was suppressed by CAP. However,PS I measured as P700 was very stable. The level of PS I measuredas P700 was not significantly reduced by the irradiation for12 h even in the presence of CAP while the level of Cyt b559,component of PS II, was decreased markedly. The function ofPS I before and after supra-high irradiation with CAP was examinedby comparing sizes of P700 oxidation induced by a short flash,by a continuous light, and by determination of O2-and ferredoxin-reduction.No difference was observed in PS I actions before and afterthe irradiation treatment. These results indicate that the PSI complex is very tolerant of supra-high irradiation. However,the cells grown under supra-high irradiance contained much fewerPS I and PS II complexes than Cyt b6–f complexes. Theformer levels were reduced to a half to one fourth of thosebefore growth while the level of Cyt b6–f complex wasnot reduced so much. The coupling mechanism between the bilaterally paired optic lobe circadian pacemakers in the cricket Gryllus bimaculatus was investigated by recording locomotor activity, under constant light or constant red light, after the optic nerve was unilaterally severed.
1.  The majority (about 70%) of the animals showed a locomotor rhythm with 2 rhythmic components; one freerunning with a period of 25.33 ± 0.41 (SD) h and the other with 24.36 ± 0.37 (SD) h under constant light (Fig. 3A).
2.  Removal of the intact side optic lobe abolished the longer period component (Fig. 4A), while the operation on the operated side caused a reverse effect (Fig. 4B), indicating that the longer and the shorter period components are driven by the pacemaker on the intact and the operated side, respectively.
3.  The activity driven by a pacemaker was inhibited during the subjective day of the contralateral pacemaker (circadian time 0–10, Fig. 5).
4.  The freerunning periods of the two components were not constant but varied as a function of the mutual phase angle relationship (Figs. 3A, 7, 8).
These results suggest that the 2 optic lobe pacemakers weakly couple to one another and that the cricket maintains a stable temporal structure in its behavior through the phase-dependent mututal inhibition of activity and the phase-dependent freerunning period modulation.  相似文献

A new method for detection of tetrodotoxin (TTX) by thin-layer chromatography/fast atom bombardment (FAB) mass spectrometry was developed. TTX and/or related substances were separated by TLC on LHP-K high-performance precoated plates, with a solvent system of pyridine:ethyl acetate:acetic acid:water (15:5:3:4). The plates were subjected to positive FAB mass spectrometry, under scanning within a mass range from m/z 100 to 500. TTX was identified by selected ion-monitored chromatograms at m/z 320 (M + H)+ and 302 (M + H - H2O)+, along with full scan positive ion FAB mass spectrometry. The limit of detection for TTX was about 0.1 micrograms. TTX was also detected by cellulose acetate membrane electrophoresis/FAB mass spectrometry.  相似文献

Rabbit antisera were raised against diacylglycerol kinase purified from pig brain cytosol. Upon immunoblot analysis, the antibody was specifically reactive with the kinase (Mr = 79,000-80,000). Pig brain cytosol, microsomal, and synaptosomal fractions all contained the immunoreactive Mr = 80,000 polypeptide, thus showing that the same enzyme is present in the soluble as well as membrane fractions of the brain. The antibody could precipitate only 60% of the kinase activity present in the crude cytosol. Further, the antibody exhibited very little or no cross-reactivity toward liver cytosolic enzymes obtained from different animals including pigs. Immunostaining of brain tissues demonstrated that neurons, in particular, their nuclei, were positively stained, whereas glial cells were not stained. It is likely that there exists a tissue-and/or cell-dependent immunological multiplicity of diacylglycerol kinase. The enzyme activities phosphorylating sn-1 and sn-2 monoacylglycerols were co-precipitated by the antibody, indicating their identity with diacylglycerol kinase. The enzyme activity toward sn-1 monoolein was much lower than that obtained with sn-2 monoolein. Enzymic as well as chemical analyses of acyl isomers of the reaction products showed that even tested with pure (greater than 95%) sn-1 monoolein, about 70% of the formed lysophosphatidate was of the sn-2 acyl type. The results show that diacylglycerol kinase phosphorylates almost exclusively the sn-2 acyl type of monoacyl-glycerol.  相似文献

Jasmonic acid was identified from Mimosa pudica L. plants by mass spectrometry, high performance liquid chromatography and thin layer chromatography. Effects of authentic jasmonic acid on pulvinule movement and transpiration of the pinnae were compared with those of abscisic acid. Jasmonic acid and abscisic acid each at 10−5 M inhibited both auxin- and light-induced opening of the pulvinules. A closure-inducing activity of jasmonic acid at 10−4 M was greater than that of abscisic acid at 10−4 M. Pinnae transpiration was reduced by 10−5 M abscisic acid but not by 10−4 M jasmonic acid.  相似文献
