Lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer-related mortality all over the world. In recent years, pulmonary adenocarcinoma has surpassed squamous cell carcinoma in frequency and is the predominant form of lung cancer in many countries. Epidemiological investigations have shown an inverse relationship between garlic (Allium sativum) consumption and death rate from many cancers. Diallyl trisulfide (DATS) is one of the garlic-derived compounds (also known as: organosulfer compounds, OSC). DATS can induce apoptosis and inhibit the growth of many cancer cell lines. Our study demonstrated that the apoptotic incidents induced by DATS were a mitochondria-dependent caspase cascade through a significant decrease of the anti-apoptotic Bcl-2 that resulted in up-regulation of the ratio of Bax/Bcl-2 and the activity of caspase-3, -8, and -9. Eventually, DATS induced the apoptosis and inhibited the proliferation in a concentration- and time-dependent manner. Furthermore, by establishing an animal model of female BALB/c nude mice with A549 xenografts, we found that oral gavage of DATS significantly retarded growth of A549 xenografts in nude mice without causing weight loss or any other side effects compared with the control group. All the evidence both in vitro and in vivo suggested that DATS could be an ideal anti-cancer drug.  相似文献

香柱菌属Epichloë内生真菌存在于宿主植物地上部组织,不仅能提高宿主植物对生物与非生物逆境的抗性,而且能对周围环境中的微生物产生影响。该研究以染内生菌(endophyte-infected,EI)和不染菌(endophyte-free,EF)苇状羊茅Festuca arundinacea为实验材料,探究内生真菌和不同水平盐碱胁迫处理对宿主根系丛枝菌根真菌(arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi,AMF)群落多样性和组成的影响。结果表明,内生真菌和盐碱胁迫处理对苇状羊茅根系AMF多样性影响存在交互作用。EF苇状羊茅根系AMF多样性随盐碱胁迫处理水平的增加而降低,内生真菌的存在缓解了这一效应,在200和400 mmol/L盐碱胁迫处理下,内生真菌感染增加了苇状羊茅根系AMF多样性;此外,内生真菌感染改变了苇状羊茅根系AMF群落组成,降低了优势属Funneliformis相对多度,增加了ClaroideoglomusGlomus和unclassified AMF相对多度。结构方程模型结果表明,内生真菌通过间接增加土壤总磷浓度对苇状羊茅根系AMF多样性产生影响。本研究为筛选盐碱污染区生态修复的植物-微生物共生体提供基础。  相似文献

The Arabidopsis Ethylene-Insensitive3 (EIN3) has received attention recently and has been shown to be involved in the regulation of multitude of responses ranging from biotic stress defense and development to hormone interaction. To better understand the roles of EIN3 in plants response to salinity stress during germination and post-germination development, seeds of two EIN3 deficient mutant and a EIN3 overexpression mutant of Arabidopsis were analyzed under salinity and compared with Col-0 as control. The results showed that the ein3-1eil1-1 double mutant (lacking EIN3 and EIN3-Like1) and ein3-1 (lacking EIN3) were hypersensitive to high salinity (>150 mM NaCl), while EIN3 overexpression mutant (EIN3ox) displayed enhanced tolerance, indicating that EIN3 plays important roles during seed germination under salinity. In addition, we also found that the two EIN3 deficient mutant seedlings accumulate high levels of hydrogen peroxide (H2O2), which was thought to be an inhibitor of germination under salinity before, suggesting that EIN3 may function as a negative regulator of reactive oxygen species metabolism in germinating seeds under salinity. Taken together, our studies provide insights that EIN3 promotes seed germination under salinity, at least in part, through modulating concentration of H2O2 in germinating seeds.  相似文献

A mutant strain of Pyropia yezoensis, strain E, was isolated from the free‐living conchocelis of a pure strain (NA) treated with ethyl methane sulfonate. The incremental quantities of young strain E blades were higher than those of NA after 14 d of cultivation, indicating that young blades of mutant strain E released more archeospores. The mean length and weight of large E blades were both over three times greater than those of NA after 4 weeks of cultivation. The photosynthetic parameters (Fv/Fm, Y[I], Y[II], and O2 evolution rate) and pigment contents (including phycoerythrin and phycocyanin) of strain E blades were higher than those of NA (P < 0.05). The cellular respiratory rate of strain E blades was lower than that of NA (P < 0.05). In order to investigate the causes of changes in strain E blades, total RNA in strain E and NA blades were sequenced using the Illumina Hiseq platform. Compared with NA, 1,549 unigenes were selected in strain E including 657 up‐regulated and 892 down‐regulated genes. According to the physiology measurement and differentially expressed genes analysis, cell respiration in strain E might decrease, whereas anabolic‐like photosynthesis and protein biosynthesis might increase compared with NA. This means substance accumulation might be greater than decomposition in strain E. This might explain why strain E blades showed improved growth compared with NA. In addition, several genes related to stress resistance were up‐regulated in strain E indicating that strain E might have a higher stress resistance. The sequencing dataset may be conducive to Pyropia yezoensis molecular breeding research.  相似文献

In insects, death‐feigning is an effective defence strategy. Eucryptorrhynchus brandti, a major borer pest in China, has a weak flight ability and exhibits obvious death‐feigning behaviour when disturbed. Despite a large number of studies of its biological and ecological properties as well as control methods, the death‐feigning behaviour has not been specifically described. In laboratory conditions, we recorded the survival rate under starvation and feeding conditions and evaluated the effect of starvation on the duration and occurrence of death‐feigning. In a continuous experiment, we examined variation in the death‐feigning duration every day over 7 day. Then, we evaluated the effects of starvation for 3, 6 and 9 day in a non‐continuous experiment and further observed variation in the death‐feigning intensity. We found that starvation significantly affected the survival rate. Survival time was significantly longer in the starvation group than in the feeding group, and females had longer survival times than males (female: 14 day, male: 8 day). In the continuous experiment, starved E. brandti had the longest duration of death‐feigning at 2 day, followed by a significant decrease. In the non‐continuous experiment, the duration and proportion of death‐feigning decreased significantly as the duration of starvation increased and were significantly lower than feeding. These observations suggest that starvation is a non‐negligible factor in the death‐feigning behaviour of E. brandti adults, facilitating the interpretation of future ecological and behavioural data of thanatosis.  相似文献

亚热带红壤区森林土壤剖面微生物残体碳分布及影响因素   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
土壤剖面中20cm以下土壤有机碳(SOC)储量占土壤剖面总SOC储量50%左右,由于土壤微生物残体碳(MRC)是稳定土壤碳库的重要来源,因此研究土壤剖面中MRC对SOC的贡献对于评估土壤碳储量具有重要意义。然而,目前关于MRC含量及其对SOC贡献的研究多数集中在土壤表层,在土壤剖面和母质中尚不清楚。选取江西省千烟洲亚热带典型森林红壤剖面,通过氨基糖与磷脂脂肪酸(PLFA)微生物标志物分析方法,分析红壤剖面和母质中MRC的影响机制及其对SOC贡献的分布特征。研究结果表明:(1)MRC含量随着土壤剖面深度增加而显著降低(P<0.05),在整个土壤剖面中,细菌MRC对SOC贡献为6%—12%,真菌MRC对SOC贡献为12%—36%,MRC对SOC贡献为18%—46%。从土壤表层至母质,真菌MRC对SOC贡献高于细菌MRC。(2)结构方程模型结果表明,在土壤剖面中,MRC含量主要受到微生物-PLFA含量、容重和溶解态有机碳含量的影响。研究量化了红壤剖面中MRC对SOC的贡献,表明在20cm以下土壤及母质中,微生物残体碳对红壤地区生态系统碳库具有重要贡献。  相似文献
