The performance of three selected bacterial strains—PR3, PR7 and PR10 (Providencia sp., Brevundimonas sp., Ochrobacterium sp.) and three cyanobacterial strains CR1, CR2 and CR3 (Anabaena sp., Calothrix sp., Anabaena sp.), and their combinations was evaluated in a pot experiment with rice variety Pusa-1460, comprising 51 treatments along with recommended fertilizer controls. Highest yield enhancement of 19.02% was recorded in T12 (CR2), over control, while significant enhancement in nitrogen fixing potential was recorded in treatments involving combination of bacterial-cyanobacterial strains—T37 (PR3 + CR1 + CR3) and T21 (PR7 + CR1). Organic carbon was significantly increased in all microbe-inoculated treatments, which could be correlated with microbial biomass carbon values and activities of all the enzymes tested in our study. Also, panicle weight and plant biomass were highly correlated with soil microbial carbon. Comparative evaluation revealed the superior performance of strains CR2, CR1 (both Anabaena sp.) and PR10 (Ochrobacterium sp.) in increasing the growth and grain yield of rice and improving soil health, besides N (nitrogen) savings of 40–80 kg ha−1. The study for the first time illustrated the positive effects of co-inoculation of bacterial and cyanobacterial strains for integrated nutrient management of rice crop.  相似文献

 不同的植物对铝胁迫的生理响应不同, 因而对铝毒的耐性也不相同。设置5种铝浓度,进行砂培法处理,研究了4种我国南方红壤广泛分布的草本植物——牵牛(Pharbitis nil)、望江南(Cassia occidentlis)、光头稗(Echinochloa colonum)和合萌(Aeschynomene indica)的种子萌发、光合色素、脯氨酸含量、丙二醛(MDA)含量、可溶性糖(SS)含量、质膜透性(MP)、过氧化氢酶 (CAT) 活性以及过氧化物酶 (POD)活性的变化。结果表明铝对4种植物的生理特性都有明显的影响。4种植物的种子在10 000 mg·L-1 Al3+处理条件下都不能萌发。2 000 mg·L-1 Al3+处理都不利于4种植物的生长,与对照相比,2 000 mg·L-1 Al3+处理时4种草本植物叶绿素和叶绿素总含量显著降低(p<0.05);MDA含量和MP显著增加(p<0.05);脯氨酸含量极显著增加(p<0.01);POD和CAT活性极显著降低(p<0.01)。中低铝(80和400 mg·L-1)处理时,牵牛和合萌与对照相比,MP和MDA含量降低,POD和CAT活性升高;望江南的反应与牵牛和合萌的反应相反;光头稗在80 mg·L-1 Al3+处理时,与牵牛和合萌的变化一致,在400 mg·L-1 Al3+处理时,则相反。植物在中低铝处理条件下,通过维持较高的POD和CAT活性和脯氨酸、叶绿素含量,较低的MP和MDA含量来增加其对铝的耐性。  相似文献

Urban effluents are significant sources of heavy metal pollution in fresh water. Metal contamination in dams around the city of Bulawayo, Zimbabwe, were monitored during October 2014 to assess ecological and public health risks. Heavy metals were measured in water, sediment and fish in dams located downstream of effluent discharge zones in Bulawayo and were compared to those in a pristine upstream dam. Water conductivity indicated pollution of downstream dams. Levels of lead (0.13–0.28 ppm) and cadmium (0.02–0.06 ppm) in water from downstream dams exceeded WHO safe limits for drinking water. Cadmium levels in polluted dams also exceeded the safe limit for agricultural use. Sediments of effluent-polluted dams had metal contamination factors ranging from 8.8 to 31.2 relative to the control, and fish from the dams had higher metal content and were unfit for human consumption. Metal levels were also measured along an urban stream to establish the sources of metals. The city’s industrial zone had the highest levels of metals, suggesting that industrial effluents were major sources of contamination. The environmental consequences and human health risks of the pollution of peri-urban water bodies from urban effluents are discussed.  相似文献

Abstract. The effect and accumulation of cadmium (Cd) in lettuce grown by means of the hydroponic technique was investigated by multivariate analysis, and was found to be affected by the concentration of other trace elements. Particularly iron acted in a strongly antagonistic way against Cd. Consequently, no absolute toxicity limits for Cd can be drawn without considering other trace elements.  相似文献

Oil content and fatty acid composition were investigated on 12 castor varieties and strains by using the soxhlet extraction method and capillary gas chromatography. This was made to provide a reference and theoretical basis for castorbean breeding with high oil content, determine variability of seed compounds for breeding purposes, and broaden chemical material choices. Results revealed that crude fat percentage in seeds ranged from 18.91 to 35.84% with an average of 25.91%; the absolute content of ricinoleic acid varied between 171.65 g/kg and 314.03 g/kg with an average of 222.43 g/kg, and kernel crude fat percentage was between 24.28 and 46.97% with an average of 34.30%. All these study variables were highest in the 2129 strain. The percentage of ricinoleic acid in crude fat was between 83.85 to 87.62%, and the highest value was found in the zhebi4 accession. The other fatty acids appeared in small concentrations, and showed small amplitude: 1.12 to 1.61%, 1.21 to 1.61%, 3.53 to 4.80%, 5.35 to 6.38%, 0.52 to 0.79%, 0.05 to 0.08% and 0.43 to 0.55%, for palmitic, stearic, oleic, linolic, linolenic, arachidic, and arachidonic acids, respectively. One hundred seed weight was determined for each accession. One hundred seed weight ranged from 25.7 g to 34.0 g with an average of 29.9 g. There was a significant correlation between seed weight and oil content, but the correlation value was low (r=0.51). Cluster analysis by SSPS based on the content of fatty acid composition revealed that the accessions were divided into three independent clusters. These findings will clearly provide useful information for further research in breeding and utilization of castor oil.  相似文献

Restricted supply of micronutrients is a common constraint for plant growth worldwide, especially in organic farming systems where nutrients supply to crops mostly depends on the mineralization of native soil organic matter, decomposition of applied manures and crop residues. A laboratory incubation study was therefore conducted to investigate the potential release of copper (Cu), manganese (Mn) and zinc (Zn) from the rock mineral flour (RMF) and city waste compost (CWC) as compared to inorganic micronutrient fertilizers for 140 days. Release of the micronutrients from RMF and CWC showed different trends. The results showed that about 4.6% of Cu added as RMF was released irrespective of the quantity of the RMF applied. However, Cu release from CWC increased from 0.7 to 3.5% as the amount of compost added was increased. Copper recovery from copper sulphate was 98%. Manganese release from RMF decreased from 114 to 103% as the RMF level was increased, while the corresponding decrease in Mn release from CWC was from 14 to ?3%. Manganese recovery from manganese sulphate was 100%. Zinc release from RMF increased from 5.8?15.5%, with an increase in the amount of RMF applied, while no Zn was released from CWC. Recovery of Zn from zinc sulphate was 98%. These results show that RMF and CWC could be used to meet Cu, Mn and Zn requirements of organically grown cereals. The results of the investigation have general applicability in organic farming.  相似文献

An investigation was undertaken to screen, select and evaluate a set of bacterial and cyanobacterial isolates from the wheat rhizosphere for their role as biofertilizers in wheat. From an initial set of 23 cyanobacterial strains and 110 bacterial isolates from wheat rhizospheric soil, 3 bacterial and 3 cyanobacterial strains were selected based on their plant growth promoting potential under laboratory and controlled greenhouse conditions. In vitro compatibility studies revealed positive interactions among the six strains. Pot experiments were conducted with wheat variety HD 2687, with a total of 51 treatments, along with recommended fertilizer controls. Various combinations of the selected set of three bacterial (PW1, PW5 and PW7) and three cyanobacterial isolates (CW1, CW2 and CW3) were used along with 1/3 N and full dose of P and K fertilizers. Significant enhancement in the soil microbiological (Dehydrogenase activity, FDA hydrolase, Alkaline phosphatase and microbial biomass) and plant growth/yield parameters were recorded. Observations revealed a two-fold increase in panicle weight in selected combinations (PW1+PW7+CW3; PW1+ CW1+CW2/CW1+CW3; CW2+CW3), as compared to control treatment involving full dose of chemical fertilizers. Such combinations, which also provided N savings of 40–80 kg N/ha are being further evaluated in field experiments. This study for the first time illustrated the positive and dynamic interactions among bacterial and cyanobacterial strains and their promise in integrated nutrient management of wheat crop.  相似文献

Higher plant plasma membranes carry receptors of different affinity for the phytotoxin fusicoccin. Reception of fusicoccin involves proteins belonging to the highly conserved 14-3-3 family, but the complete structure of the fusicoccin receptor (FCR) is unknown. Using radiation inactivation analysis, we estimated the molecular masses of low-affinity and high-affinity FCR at 63 +/- 7 and 130 +/- 15 kD, respectively. The dose dependences of receptor inactivation indicate that microsomal specimens contain "silent" FCRs of 420 +/- 90 kD in amounts commensurate with that of the active FCRs. Both low- and high-affinity FCRs are inactivated by hydrolytic enzymes from the outer surface of the plasma membrane, and impairment of protoplast integrity causes an irreversible transition of the low-affinity binding site into the high-affinity one. A scheme is proposed for the organization of different types of FCR in the plasma membrane, implying that the membrane affinity for fusicoccin reflects the interaction between proteins in the FCR complex.  相似文献
