Both flooding and drought are important in determining plant distribution in wetlands. However, the roles of plant’s physiological response to flooding and drought in accounting for plant distribution are far from clear. To this end, three typical wetland plants with different distribution patterns (high-elevation species Miscanthus sacchariflorus, low-elevation species Carex brevicuspis and Polygonum hydropiper) in Dongting Lake were treated with three water levels (flooding 25 cm, control 0 cm, drought ?25 cm), and relative growth rate (RGR), malondialdehyde (MDA) content, electrolyte leakage and proline content were investigated. The RGR of the three species decreased significantly in both flooding and drought treatments. Compared to the control, the RGR of M. sacchariflorus decreased more in the flooding treatment but less in the drought treatment compared to the other two species. The contents of MDA in the three species increased in both flooding and drought treatments, except for P. hydropiper in the flooding treatment. MDA contents increased more in M. sacchariflorus in the flooding treatment but less in the drought treatment compared to the other two species. Only M. sacchariflorus had a higher electrolyte leakage in the flooding treatment, and drought led to a higher electrolyte leakage in P. hydropiper and C. brevicuspis. Proline content increased 69.2, 66.7 and 39.6 % in P. hydropiper, C. brevicuspis and M. sacchariflorus in the flooding treatment, and increased 44.2, 13.0 and 45.3 % in the drought treatment, respectively. These results suggest that M. sacchariflorus has a higher tolerance to drought but a lower tolerance to flooding than do the other two species, which might be the intrinsic mechanisms accounting for their different distribution patterns.  相似文献

The principal problem arising from prostate cancer (PCa) is its propensity to metastasize to bones, and it's crucial to understand the mechanism of tumor progression to metastasis in order to develop therapies that may reduce the morbidity and mortality of PCa patients. Although we had identified that microRNA(miR)‐145 could repress bone metastasis of PCa via regulating epithelial–mesenchymal transition (EMT) in previous study, it is still unknown how miR‐145 regulated EMT. In the present study, we constructed a luciferase reporter system and identified HEF1 as a direct target of miR‐145. More importantly, HEF1 was shown to promote migration, invasion and EMT of PC‐3 cells, a human PCa cell line originated from a bone metastatic PCa specimen. And HEF1 was also shown to partially mediate miR‐145 suppression of EMT and invasion. Furthermore, inhibition of HEF1 repressed bone invasion of PC‐3 cells in vivo. Expression of HEF1 was negatively correlated with miR‐145 in primary PCa and bone metastatic specimens, but HEF1 was higher in samples which were more likely to commit to bone metastasis or those with higher free prostate‐specific antigen (fPSA) levels and Gleason scores. Taken together, these findings indicate that HEF1 promotes EMT and bone invasion in prostate cancer by directly targeted by miR‐145, and miR‐145 suppresses EMT and invasion, at least in part, through repressing HEF1. This study evaluated the succession process of aquatic macrophytes after 150 years of alluviation in the Modern Yellow River Delta, China, and identified the roles of various environmental parameters that regulate vegetation succession. From 2007 to 2008, 214 quadrats were surveyed and 19 environmental parameters were measured, including elevation, plot distance from the seashore, 10 water parameters, and 7 soil parameters. Forty-six aquatic macrophytes belonging to 20 families and 34 genera were identified across the entire delta. Emergent and submerged plants were the most frequent species, accounting for 58.7 and 34.8 % of all species, respectively. Detrended canonical correspondence analysis showed that the presence of aquatic macrophytes in this delta was primarily regulated by water salinity, soil salinity, and distance from the seashore, followed by nutrient concentrations (e.g., NH4 +, total soil N and PO4 ? of water). Salinity-tolerant species (e.g., Ruppia maritima, Phragmites australis, and Typha angustifolia) tended to be widely distributed across the entire delta. In contrast, salinity-sensitive species (e.g., Ceratophyllum demersum, Hydrilla verticillata, and Potamogeton malaianus) tended to be distributed in areas at the early stages of succession, which were relatively distant from the shore. Moreover, this study also confirmed that species richness and diversity were negatively correlated with water and soil salinity, which in turn were negatively correlated with plot distance from the shore. These data indicate that the primary drivers of aquatic macrophyte succession in this delta are water and soil salinity. The information assimilated here is used to propose management practices for the protection of aquatic macrophytes in the Yellow River Delta.  相似文献

A synthetic peptide (CaMBP) matching amino acids 3614-3643 of the skeletal ryanodine receptor (RyR1) binds to both Ca2+-free calmodulin (CaM) and Ca2+-bound CaM with nanomolar affinity [J. Biol. Chem. 276 (2001) 2069]. We report here that CaMBP increases [3H]ryanodine binding to RyR1 in a dose- and Ca2+-dependent manner; it also induces Ca2+ release from SR vesicles, and increases open probability (P(o)) of single RyR channels reconstituted in planar lipid bilayers. Further, CaMBP removes CaM associated with SR vesicles and increases [3H]ryanodine binding to purified RyR1, suggesting that its mechanism of action is two-fold: it removes endogenous inhibitors and also interacts directly with complementary regions in RyR1. Remarkably, the N-terminus of CaMBP activates RyRs while the C-terminus of CaMBP inhibits RyR activity, suggesting the presence of two discrete functional subdomains within this region. A ryr1 mutant lacking this region, RyR1-Delta3614-3643, was constructed and expressed in dyspedic myoblasts (RyR1-knockout). The depolarization-, caffeine- and 4-chloro-m-cresol (4-CmC)-induced Ca2+ transients in these cells were dramatically reduced compared with cells expressing wild type RyR1. Deletion of the 3614-3643 region also resulted in profound changes in unitary conductance and channel gating. We thus propose that the RyR1 3614-3643 region acts not only as the CaM binding site, but also as an important modulatory domain for RyR1 function.  相似文献

An investigation on Bidens parviflora led to the isolation of three sucrose esters and a substituted truxillate. Their structures were elucidated as (6-O-(E)-p-coumaroyl)-beta-D-fructofuranosyl-(2-->1)-alpha-D-glucopyranoside, (6-O-(E)-p-coumaroyl)-beta-D-fructofuranosyl-(2-->1)-(6-O-(E)-p-coumaroyl)-alpha-D-glucopyranoside II, 6,6'-sucrose ester of (1alpha,2alpha,3beta,4beta)-3,4-bis(4-hydroxyphenyl)-1,2-cyclobutanedicarboxylic acid, dimethyl ester of (1alpha,2alpha,3alpha,4alpha)-2,4-bis(3,4-dihydroxyphenyl)-1,3-cyclobutanedicarboxylic acid on the basis of spectral and chemical evidence. These compounds were subjected to the following bioassays: the histamine release inhibition of rat mast cells induced by antigen-antibody reaction and the inhibitory activity of PGE(2) production by macrophages.  相似文献
