Background
Patient adherence to follow-up plays a key role in the medical surveillance of chronic diseases and affects the implementation of clinical research by influencing cost and validity. We previously reported a randomized controlled trial (RCT) on short message service (SMS) reminders, which significantly improved follow-up adherence in pediatric cataract treatment.Methods
RCTs published in English that reported the impact of SMS or telephone reminders on increasing or decreasing the follow-up rate (FUR) were selected from Medline, EMBASE, PubMed, and the Cochrane Library through February 2014. The impacts of SMS and telephone reminders on the FUR of patients were systematically evaluated by meta-analysis and bias was assessed.Results
We identified 13 RCTs reporting on 3276 patients with and 3402 patients without SMS reminders and 8 RCTs reporting on 2666 patients with and 3439 patients without telephone reminders. For the SMS reminders, the majority of the studies (>50%) were at low risk of bias, considering adequate sequence generation, allocation concealment, blinding, evaluation of incomplete outcome data, and lack of selective reporting. For the studies on the telephone reminders, only the evaluation of incomplete outcome data accounted for more than 50% of studies being at low risk of bias. The pooled odds ratio (OR) for the improvement of follow-up adherence in the SMS group compared with the control group was 1.76 (95% CI [1.37, 2.26]; P<0.01), and the pooled OR for the improvement of follow-up adherence in the telephone group compared with the control group was 2.09 (95% CI [1.85, 2.36]; P<0.01); both sets showed no evidence of publication bias.Conclusions
SMS and telephone reminders could both significantly improve the FUR. Telephone reminders were more effective but had a higher risk of bias than SMS reminders. 相似文献2.

We have investigated the serum proteome of Han-nationality Chinese by using shotgun strategy. A complete proteomics analysis was performed on two reference specimens from a total of 20 healthy donors, in which each sample was made from ten-pooled male or female serum, respectively. The methodology used encompassed (1) removal of six high-abundant proteins; (2) tryptic digestion of low- and high-abundant proteins of serum; (3) separation of peptide mixture by RP-HPLC followed by ESI-MS/MS identification. A total of 944 nonredundant proteins were identified under a stringent filter condition (X(corr) > or = 1.9, > or = 2.2, and > or = 3.75, < or = C(n) > or = 0.1, and R(sp) > or = 4.0) in both pooled male and female samples, in which 594 and 622 entire proteins were found, respectively. Compared with the total 3020 protein identifications confirmed by more than one laboratory or more than one specimen in HUPO Plasma Proteome Project (PPP) participating laboratories recently, 206 proteins were identified with at least two distinct peptides per protein and 185 proteins were considered as high-confidence identification. Moreover, some lower abundance serum proteins (ng/mL range) were detected, such as complement C5 and CA125, routinely used as an ovarian cancer marker in plasma and serum. The resulting nonredundant list of serum proteins would add significant information to the knowledge base of human plasma proteome and facilitate disease markers discovery. 相似文献

Pattern formation during epithelial development requires the coordination of multiple signaling pathways. Here, we investigate the functions of an ovary-enriched miRNA, miR-318, in epithelial development during Drosophila oogenesis. mir-318 maternal loss-of-function mutants were female-sterile and laid eggs with abnormal morphology. Removal of mir-318 disrupted the dorsal–anterior follicle cell patterning, resulting in abnormal dorsal appendages. mir-318 mutant females also produced thin and fragile eggshells due to impaired chorion gene amplification. We provide evidence that the ecdysone signaling pathway activates expression of miR-318 and that miR-318 cooperates with Tramtrack69 to control the switch from endocycling to chorion gene amplification during differentiation of the follicular epithelium. The multiple functions of miR-318 in oogenesis illustrate the importance of miRNAs in maintaining cell fate and in promoting the developmental transition in the female follicular epithelium. 相似文献

Ca2+ signaling is essential for bone metabolism. Fluid shear stress (FSS), which can induce a rapid release of calcium from endoplasmic reticulum (ER) to produce calcium transients, plays a significant role in osteoblast proliferation and differentiation. However, it is still unclear of how calcium transients induced by FSS activating a number of downstream signals which subsequently regulate cell functions. In this study, we performed a group of Ca2+ transients models, which were induced by FSS to investigate the effects of different magnitudes of Ca2+ transients in osteoblast proliferation. Further, we performed a global proteomic profile of MC3T3-E1 cells in different Ca2+ transients models stimulated by FSS. GO enrichment and KEGG pathway analysis revealed that the TCA cycle was activated in the proliferating process. The activation of TCA needed mitochondrial Ca2+ uptake which were influenced by the amplitude of Ca2+ transients induced by FSS. Our work elucidate that osteoblast proliferation induced by FSS was related to the magnitude of calcium transients, which further activated energetic metabolism signaling pathway. This work revealed further understanding the mechanism of osteoblast proliferation induced by mechanic loading and help us to design new methods for osteoporosis therapy. 相似文献

of protoplasts varied depending on the alga growth stage, and those isolated from younger tissue in March maintained a high
vitality with high sealing success rate compared with protoplasts isolated from mature or non-growing plants in August or
November. In the whole-cell configuration, large inward currents were elicited by negative voltage pulses. The voltage-dependent
component was predominantly carried by Cl−, as confirmed by the use of the Cl− channel inhibitor DIDS and reversal potential of current-voltage plots. This evidence suggests that hyperpolarization-activated

对一株从土壤中分离到的芽胞杆菌Bacillus sp.BSD-8菌株所产生的热稳定性较高的肌氨酸氧化酶进行纯化,并对该酶的特性进行了研究。通过硫酸铵分级沉淀、DEAE-纤维素离子交换柱、Toyopearl疏水层析柱和Sephadex G-75分子筛层析,使酶提纯25倍,比活力达到5.3U/mg。研究了纯化后的酶的生化特性,确定了该酶的主要特性:该酶为黄素蛋白,与黄素以非共价键的方式结合,由单一亚基组成,其亚基分子量为51kDa。酶的最适反应温度及pH分别为60℃与8.5。该酶在60℃及pH8.0~10.0条件下稳定。以Lineveaver-Burk作图法求得该酶米氏常数Km值为3.1mmol/L。Ag+、Hg2+、SDS及Tween80对该酶有强抑制作用,而Tween20和Triton X-100对酶活性无影响。该肌氨酸氧化酶在耐热性质上比以前所报道的肌氨酸氧化酶有很大的提高,在酶法肌酐测定应用中有明显的优势。 相似文献

The whole length SPV2 gene of 715 bp, encoding VAMP-2 protein of 110 amino acids from Japanese sea perch, Lateolabrax japonicus, was obtained by using both RT-PCR and anchored PCR strategies while we initiated the structural and functional study on SNARE proteins in marine teleostean. Analysis of the deduced amino acid sequence indicated that SPV2 has its core arginine residue, a potential N-linked glycosylation site near its N-terminal, and one transmembrane domain in its C-terminal. Advanced structural analysis of bioinformatics approach predicts a coiled-coil α-helix backbone as the characteristic of SPV2 main conformational structure, identical to the structure of rat VAMP-2 obtained by crystallography. Semi-quantitative RT-PCR revealed that SPV2 was generally expressed in 10 neural and non-neural tissues, with the highest concentration in brain and the least in muscle. 相似文献

Sibling neurons in the embryonic central nervous system (CNS) of Drosophila can adopt distinct states as judged by gene expression and axon projection. In the NB4-2 lineage, two even-skipped (eve)-expressing sibling neuronal cells, RP2 and RP2sib, are formed in each hemineuromere. Throughout embryogenesis, only RP2, but not RP2sib, maintains eve expression. In this report, we describe a P-element induced mutation that alters the expression pattern of EVE in RP2 motoneurons in the Drosophila embryonic CNS. The mutation was mapped to a Drosophila homolog of human AF10/AF17 leukemia fusion genes (alf), and therefore named Dalf. Like its human counterparts, Dalf encodes a zinc finger/leucine zipper nuclear protein that is widely expressed in embryonic and larval tissues including neurons and glia. In Dalf mutant embryos, the RP2 motoneuron no longer maintains EVE expression. The effect of the Dalf mutation on EVE expression is RP2-specific and does not affect other characteristics of the RP2 motoneuron. In addition to the embryonic phenotype, Dalf mutant larvae are retarded in their growth and this defect can be rescued by the ectopic expression of a Dalf transgene under the control of a neuronal GAL4 driver. This indicates a requirement for Dalf function in the nervous system for maintaining gene expression and the facilitation of normal growth. 相似文献
