The interaction between S-adenosyl-L-methionine (AdoMet) and sodium poly(styrene sulfonate) NaPSS) was studied by means of ultrafiltration and ultraviolet absorption spectroscopy at several pH values and sodium sulfate concentrations. The results obtained are interpreted mainly in terms of electrostatic interactions and permit the evaluation of the binding constants under different experimental conditions. Furthermore, ultraviolet absorption spectroscopy data show a specific short-range interaction between the aromatic electronic system of AdoMet and the NaPSS aromatic ring. The results indicate that the binding strength is greatly affected by the AdoMet positive charge on the adenine ring. The other positive charges on both the sulfonic pole and the amino acidic group of AdoMet contribute only weakly to the binding to the polyanionic matrix, thus assuring some stability of AdoMet even at physiological pH. 相似文献

Cytokinin interaction with free radical metabolism and senescence: Effects on endogenous lipoxygenase and purine oxidation 总被引:7,自引:0,他引:7
A typical system comprising xanthine-xanthine oxidase, which produces superoxide free radicals, significantly increased endogenous levels of the senescence-associated lipoxygenase enzyme while cytokinin reversed this effect. It is suggested that in its interaction with free radicals cytokinin may have a dual effect: a) it may inhibit purine oxidation by the formation of a 2,8 dihydroxy purine which lowers the substrate affinity of xanthine oxidase; b) it may act as a direct free radical scavenger by virtue of H abstraction from the α-carbon atom in the amine bond. 相似文献

Caryopses of Aegilops kotschyi Boiss. from different positions within the same spikelet differ greatly in their degree of dormancy. Imposition of this dormancy pattern is a correlative phenomenon within the spikelet, inasmuch as the uppermost developing caryopsis is least dormant and its development is associated with the dormancy status imposed on the lower (one or two) caryopses. Differences in pigmentation of the caryopses follow a corresponding pattern. 相似文献

Climate change may affect the microbial production and temperature sensitivity of extracellular enzymes that release carbon (C) and nutrients from soil organic matter. We measured the response of six hydrolytic enzymes involved in C, nitrogen (N), and phosphorus (P) degradation to experimental warming in a mixed-deciduous forest persisting on highly-weathered Ultisols (Whitehall Forest, Georgia, US). We found that warming produced no consistent enzyme response. However, we observed significant seasonal variation in enzyme activities, temperature sensitivities and elemental enzyme ratios (C:N and C:P). Seasonal differences in enzyme activity and temperature sensitivity were best explained by soil moisture and temperature. Our results suggest that seasonal dynamics in soil microclimate, organic matter supply, and microbial demand exert more control on enzyme dynamics than does a uniform increase in soil temperature. 相似文献

By means of gas-liquid chromatography determination it was found that progress of dormancy break of almond buds is a function of relative proportions of free and glycoside-bound abscisic acid. Successive stages of bud break manifest a marked increase of bound abscisic acid accompanied by a parallel decrease in endogenous levels of the free form. Of the two stereoisomers involved it was found that while the form maintains a more or less stable level throughout, changes were detected primarily in the form. It is thus postulated that the binding of free hormone as well as its total content are of major physiological importance in the process of bud dormancy break. 相似文献

Legumes capable of fixing atmospheric N2 are abundant and diverse in many tropical forests, but the factors determining ecological patterns in fixation are unresolved. A long‐standing idea is that fixation depends on soil nutrients (N, P or Mo), but recent evidence shows that fixation may also differ among N2‐fixing species. We sampled canopy‐height trees across five species and one species group of N2‐fixers along a landscape P gradient, and manipulated P and Mo to seedlings in a shadehouse. Our results identify taxonomy as the major determinant of fixation, with P (and possibly Mo) only influencing fixation following tree‐fall disturbances. While 44% of trees did not fix N2, other trees fixed at high rates, with two species functioning as superfixers across the landscape. Our results raise the possibility that fixation is determined by biodiversity, evolutionary history and species–specific traits (tree growth rate, canopy stature and response to disturbance) in the tropical biome. 相似文献

Increment of levels of both lipoxygenase and superoxide-dismutase which typically increase with age or upon light deprivation is significantly lowered by cytokinin treatment. It is suggested that cytokinin on the one hand by means of inhibition of polyunsaturated fatty acid catabolism prevents incipient formation of free radicals while on the other serves as a scavenger of radicals already formed. 相似文献
