The structure and ontogeny of the stomata has been studied in 26 species of Rubiaceae, in relation to their organographic distribution. The stomata are mostly paracytic on the leaves, but vary on other parts, particularly on the floral disk, where they are exclusively anomocytic. The foliar stomata are mesogenous and paracytic, but may be either dolabrate or trilabrate in origin. The disk stomata are perigenous and are probably derived from the mesogenous paracytic ones by the loss of divisive potential of their meristemoid due to anthogenetic factors. They are regarded to be hydathodal in function. If the dendroid habit is regarded as primitive, in the family, trilabrate stomata were quite possibly derived from dolabrate ones, which are mostly associated with the dendroid habit. Evidence from stomatal ontogeny is shown to be taxonomically important in the Rubiaceae. 相似文献

Recent investigations have shown that abscisic acid (ABA) dependsupon the availability of Ca2+ for its action in certain systems. In order to check whether ABA requires Ca2+ to inhibit seedgermination, the effects of ABA, CaCl2, EGTA (a Ca2+ chelator)and lanthanum chloride and nifedipine (Ca2+ channel blockers),individually and in combination, on seed germination of Brassicajuncea L. cv. RLM-198 were studied. ABA inhibited germinationin a concentration dependent manner. ABA-induced inhibitionwas abolished with the lapse of time after application. Calciumneither affected germination nor altered the ABA-induced inhibition.EGTA. La3+ and nifedipine suppressed seed germination when testedindividually and further elevated the ABA effect, in a synergisticway, when applied simultaneously. They also prevented the time-dependentreduction in ABA-induced inhibition. The findings indicate thatCa2+ is not essential for ABA to cause germination inhibition. Genetic diversity and identification of simple sequence repeat markers correlated with Fusarium wilt resistance was performed in a set of 36 elite cultivated pigeonpea genotypes differing in levels of resistance to Fusarium wilt. Twenty-four polymorphic sequence repeat markers were screened across these genotypes, and amplified a total of 59 alleles with an average high polymorphic information content value of 0.52. Cluster analysis, done by UPGMA and PCA, grouped the 36 pigeonpea genotypes into two main clusters according to their Fusarium wilt reaction. Based on the Kruskal–Wallis ANOVA and simple regression analysis, six simple sequence repeat markers were found to be significantly associated with Fusarium wilt resistance. The phenotypic variation explained by these markers ranged from 23.7 to 56.4%. The present study helps in finding out feasibility of prescreened SSR markers to be used in genetic diversity analysis and their potential association with disease resistance. 相似文献

Mitochondrial DNA control region of Mus terricolor, three aboriginal species M. spretus, M. macedonicus, M. spicilegus; the Asian lineage M. caroli, M. cervicolor, M. cookii; and the two house mice, M. musculus domesticus and M. m. castaneus were analysed to estimate the substitution rate, phylogenetic relationship and the probable time of divergence. Results showed that M. spretus, M. caroli and M. terricolor are highly diverged from each other (caroli/terricolor = 0.146, caroli/spretus = 0.147 and terricolor/spretus = 0.122), whereas M. spretus showed less divergence with two house mice species (0.070 and 0.071). Sequence divergence between M. terricolor and the Palearctic group were found to be ranging from 0.121 to 0.134. Phylogenetic analysis by minimum evolution, neighbour-joining, unweighed pair group method with arithmetic mean and maximum parsimony showed almost similar topology. Two major clusters were found, one included the Asian lineage, M. caroli, M. cookii and M. cervicolor and the other included the house mice M. m. domesticus, M. m. castaneus and the aboriginal mice M. macedonicus and M. spicilegus along with M. spretus, forming the Palearctic clade. M. terricolor was positioned between the Palearctic and Asian clades. Results showed that Palearctic-terricolor and the Asian lineages diverged 5.47 million years ago (Mya), while M. terricolor had split around 4.63 Mya from their ancestor. M. cervicolor, M. cookii and M. caroli diverged between 4.70 and 3.36 Mya, which indicates that M. terricolor and the Asian lineages evolved simultaneously. M. spretus is expected to have diverged nearly 2.9 Mya from their most recent common ancestor. 相似文献
