Morphological and genetic variation at microsatellite loci of Caucasian shrew Sorex satunini Ogn. is examined and compared with that of the common shrew S. araneus L. Genetic distance at microsatellite loci between the common shrew and Caucasian shrew proved to be threefold higher than between chromosome races of the common shrew. The Caucasian shrew manifested low polymorphism in studies of both microsatellites and morphometric mandibular traits. The heterozygote deficit was also typical. These properties may be a consequence of partial isolation of the population and gene drift.  相似文献

The contact points of four karyotypic races (St. Petersburg, Moscow, Seliger and West Dvina) of the common shrew Sorex araneus L. were studied at the Valdai Hills (European Russia) in an area unimpeded by geographic barriers. The populations of the races are separated by narrow hybrid zones that represent the most complex heterozygous hybrid karyotypes. At these points of contact, the morphometric differentiation of karyotype races was examined in 12 cranial measurements in 190 shrews of a known karyotype. A comparison of the mean values in studied samples of immature shrews revealed statistically significant differences and the correlation of some measurements which describe the level of musculus temporalis. It has been proposed that morphometric differences in the karyotypic races were preserved and accumulated because of a 50% reduction of the frequencies of hybrids. The deviation from the Hardy-Weinberg ration in the frequencies of the genotype and haploid sets of chromosomes in the hybrid zones can be attributed to a number of fatalities of hybrid embryos or the nonrandom mating of karyotypic races. The ethological isolation might arise in the evolution of some karyotypic races from the reduced fitness of the hybrids.  相似文献

The investigation of chromosome polymorphism by quantitative methods is a rather hard task. The manual method for measuring C-segments of chromosomes 1, 9, 16 and Y in man is suggested, which is not difficult, being reasonably precise for the population research. Metaphases of the average level of chromosome condensation were taken for analysis. Only the C-segments were measured without measuring chromosomes. The negative chromosome image was 4000-fold magnified, compared to the chromosome natural size, and the boundaries of C-segments of each chromosome were five-fold dotted on a sheet of paper specially printed for this purpose. C-segments were measured by magnifying glass with 0.025 mcm scale unit. For every individuum, C-segments were measured in 5-7 cells only. The data are presented on the estimation of measurement errors and on individual (intercellular) and population (interindividual) variations of C-segments of chromosomes.  相似文献

In a comparative study the affinity of rabbit and human IgG, native, reduced and aggregated by various methods, to protein A obtained from the cell wall of Staphylococcus aureus was determined. For this purpose the method of the passive hemagglutination inhibition test was developed. The affinity to protein A was found to grow considerably after specific or non-specific IgG aggregation and to decrease by 60% after local damage affecting the structure of the IgG molecule waist as a result of the dissolution of the disulfide bond between its heavy chains. The problem of similarity between such effector properties of IgG as its ability to activate the complement system and to combine with protein A is considered, as well as the problem of the pathogenetic role of immune complexes bound with protein A.  相似文献

In strict experimental conditions the basic activity of optic-cortex neurons in the rabbit was depressed after transverse section at the level of the rostral part of the reticular formation of the midbrain. Electrolytic destruction or functional blockage of the midbrain reticular formation (nucleus reticularis tegmenti) produces a decrease in frequency and magnitude in the grouping indexes of the cortex-neuron pulses that manifest the activity in these conditions. Destruction of specific nuclei in the optic pathway (those of the lateral geniculate body and the corpora bigemina) made no substantial change in the nature of the cortex-neuron pulses. Comparison of the parameters of pulsation activity of the same cortex neurons, as recorded before and after functional exclusion of the midbrain reticular formation, revealed that the increase in grouping of these pulses after the reticular formation was blocked induced changes in the intervals between groups of pulses, while the frequency of pulses within the groups remained constant. On the basis of the data obtained we may assume that the midbrain reticular formation plays an important role in generation of the background activity of cortex neurons, being a triggering mechanism that sets off a group of pulses. Distribution of pulses within the group is apparently due to the activity of cortex mechanisms only.A. A. Bogomolets Institute of Physiology, Academy of Sciences of the Ukrainian SSR, Kiev. The skulls of shrews of genus Sorex from eight samplings from the European part of Russia and two from the vicinity of Novosibirsk were compared. The characteristics were identified using 22 marks on the axial skull. It was found that the centroid size differs significantly in the common and Laxmann’s shrews S. caecutiens and the pygmy shrew S. minutus, while for selected marks, the common and Laxmann’s, as well as pygmy, shrews were significantly different in form, but the differences were very small between Laxmann’s and pygmy shrews. The characteristic features of the biology of the shrews Sorex are discussed, which may contribute to understanding the general laws of the morphological evolution of the genus.  相似文献

A regressive modification index (RMI = beta M - beta/beta.100) is suggested to quantitatively evaluate modification of the mutagenic effect in experiments on mammals. It is based on the correlation of regressive equation "dose mutagen--effects" coefficients beta M and beta in variants with and without modifier, respectively. Regressive modification indices of various doses of phenobarbital are calculated in experiments on rats with cyclophosphamide and fotrin.  相似文献
