Abstract. The vegetation of anthropogenically disturbed sites on the Chukotka Peninsula was investigated in 1986 and 1990. 102 sites had been bulldozed free of vegetation and soil between 2 and 20 yr ago and revegetated. Anthropogenic vegetation differs considerably from natural tundra. The total plant cover decreases, lichens are absent, moss composition changes, and graminoids predominate. A floristic classification was developed in order to describe the diversity of anthropogenic communities formed on these sites. Four associations were distinguished, all belonging to the alliance Poion glaucomalacanthae. An additional alliance characterized by Alopecurus alpinus is suggested for colder sites, but it has not yet been described. There is a correspondence of associations to substrate types. The association Phippsietum algidae was found only on loam substrate. The Artemisietum glomeratae and Saxifragetum punctatae are connected with rubble or gravel. The graminoid association Arctagrostietum arundinaceae is generally widespread in disturbed habitats and occurs on a variety of substrate types.  相似文献

The observations of a laboratory culture of filamentous cyanobacteria revealed a complex of behavioral responses of their community, which maintain their activity as an integrated entity. A number of structures formed in the course of filament regrouping were revealed and described; their possible structural and functional analogues in eukaryotic organisms were determined. It is assumed that the behavioral reactions of the filaments help to maintain the integrity of the community at the stage prior to the formation of the structural bonds between its elements.  相似文献

The search for proteins with immunochemical affinity to plant stress proteins in endemic Baikal fishes shows the presence of proteins, immunochemically related to plant heat-stabile proteins and plant uncoupling protein CSP 310. Western blotting showed that among the native cytoplasmic proteins of endemic Baikal fishes there are proteins immunochemically related to heat-stabile plant proteins with molecular weights about 480, 200-290, 150, 140 and about 90-100kD. SDS-electrophoresis showed the presence of polypeptides with molecular weights 23, 17 and 14kD in all species investigated and an additional 35kD polypeptide in Cottocomephorus grewingki. The search for polypeptides with immunochemical affinity to plant stress uncoupling protein CSP 310 in endemic Baikal fishes shows the presence of a 14kD polypeptide, immunochemically related to it.  相似文献

Incidence of cerebrovascular diseases (CVD) has been studied in a cohort of 12210 workers first employed at one of the main plants (reactors, radiochemical or plutonium) of the Mayak nuclear facility during 1948-1958 and followed up to the end of 2000. Information on external gamma doses is available for virtually all (99.9%) of these workers; the mean (+/- one standard deviation) total gamma dose was 0.91 +/- 0.95 Gy (99% percentile 3.9 Gy) for men and 0.65 +/- 0.75 Gy (99% percentile 2.99 Gy) for women. Plutonium body burden was measured only for 30.0% of workers. Amongst those monitored, the mean (+/- standard deviation) cumulative liver dose from plutonium alpha exposure was 0.40 +/- 1.15 Gy (99% percentile 5.88 Gy) for men and 0.81 +/- 4.60 Gy (99% percentile 15.95 Gy) for women 4418 cases (first diagnosis) of CVD were identified in the studied cohort. A statistically significant increasing trend in CVD incidence with total external gamma dose was revealed after adjustment for non-radiation factors and internal exposure from incorporated plutonium-239. Excess relative risk per Gy was 0.464 (95% confidence interval 0.360-0.567). Incidence of CVD was statistically significantly higher for the workers chronically exposed to external gamma rays at a dose above 1.0 Gy A statistically significant increasing trend in CVD incidence with internal liver dose from plutonium alpha exposure was observed after adjustment for non-radiation factors and external exposure. ERR per Gy was 0.155 (95% confidence interval 0.075-0.235). CVD incidence was statistically significantly higher among workers with a plutonium liver dose above 0.1 Gy, although the trend estimates differed between workers at different plants. The incidence risk estimates for external radiation are generally compatible with estimates from the study of Chernobyl clean-up workers, although the incidence data point to higher risk estimates compared to those from the Japanese A-bomb survivors.  相似文献

Within island archipelagos, repeated ecological settings may lead to radiations wherein similar niches are recurrently occupied. Although it has been shown that species with common habitat requirements share particular traits, it remains relatively unexplored to what extent this may lead to the repeated evolution of almost identical phenotypes (phenocopies) and how this correlates with traits subjected to sexual selection. Exploring divergence patterns of ecological and sexual relevant traits within spiders seem promising to enhance our understanding of the relative role of natural and sexual selection. Here, we conduct a detailed morphological analysis on a large set of genital and non‐genital traits (morphometrics, colour pattern) within a radiation of the wolf spider genus Hogna Simon, 1885 on Galápagos and interpret these data, taking into account their known phylogenetic relationship. Our results show that recurrent environmental gradients have led to the parallel evolution of almost identical phenotypes, which not only proves that natural selection has driven morphological divergence, but also suggests that a similar genetic or developmental basis most likely underlies this divergence. Among‐species variation in genital traits in contrast rather reflects the phylogenetic relationships on Santa Cruz and San Cristóbal. The effects of freezing rate, suspending fluid and age of culture on the ability of four strains of Campylobacter pylori to survive and recover from freeze-drying were examined. Freeze-drying by standard procedures generally resulted in an overall loss in viability of between 3 and 7 log units. The exact cause of poor recovery by C. pylori was not established but strain differences were detected, with NCTC 11637 (type strain) surviving better than NCTC 11638 and NCTC 11639. Recovery of the poorest growing strain (NE 26695) was notably more erratic. The largest loss in viability occurred at the primary drying stage. Losses resulting from freezing and secondary drying were less marked and the rate of freezing had only a marginal effect on recovery. Nineteen different freeze-drying suspending fluids were investigated. Overall the best recovery results were obtained with 5% inositol-broth (or horse serum) plus 25% glucose, at pH 7.0, in which loss of viability was typically about 4 log units. Other factors, such as age of culture and number of viable bacteria in the before-dry suspension, did not have a significant effect on survival. We conclude from these results that C. pylori can survive freeze-drying, albeit in small numbers, but the degree of recovery is apparently largely strain dependent.  相似文献

Temporal changes in allele frequencies were studied in host-associated populations of the small ermine moth Yponomeuta padellus. At one site, populations from three host plants (Sorbus aucuparia, Amelanchier larnarckii , and Crataegus spp.) were sampled annually during a four-year-period and analysed with 20 polymorphic allozyme markers. At two other sites, allele frequencies at 5- 6 enzyme loci of Y. padellus populations from two different host plants were also tested for consistency over a 13-year-pcriod. Significant allele frequency changes occurred in the short-term analysis, whereas allele frequencies remained relatively stable through time in the long-term analyses. Furthermore, allele frequencies of Y. padellus populations from Crataegus spp. were relatively stable compared to the other host populations. The role of the agents responsible for the observed patterns is discussed.  相似文献

Reversible differentiation was experimentally discovered in a community of modern filamentous cyanobacteria Oscillatoria terebriformis. Splitting of the initially uniform community into differentiated parts (strands, multiradiate aggregates, networks, etc.) occurs only for the duration of a function facilitating the activity of this community as an integral unit. The structures are formed as a result of regrouping of the filaments, without their specialization. A morphologically regulatory system (polygonal network) was found to develop under the impact of extreme factors. The levels of structural organization of filamentous cyanobacteria and multicellular eukaryotes were compared (individual cells in a filament—cell organelles; filaments—individual cells; community—organism), and the similarities and differences in morphogenesis of these groups were analyzed using the data on the embryonic regulation in multicellular eukaryotes. Spatial information in morphogenesis was shown to result not from direct realization of an inherited program but is created by the elements of integral organisms (cells and filaments) in the course of development.  相似文献

A two-step procedure for the purification of 6-phosphogluconate dehydrogenase (EC 1.1.1.44; 6-PGDH) from sheep liver is described. The enzyme is directly bound to cellulose phosphate by batch extraction and eluted with a linear salt gradient. Purification is completed by affinity chromatography using NADP(+)-agarose. The result is 6-PGDH of high purity, greatly increased yield, and the highest specific activity yet achieved, with a significant reduction in the purification time.  相似文献
