Zusammenfassung Das Fungicid Captan erwies sich bei 37 Stämmen von Chlorella als ein wirksamer Wachstumshemmstoff. Nur 3 Chlorella-Stämme besitzen eine gewisse Captanresistenz. Das Merkmal Captanresistenz scheint in der Gattung Chlorella nicht artspezifisch verteilt zu sein.Bei Scenedesmus acutus f. alternans Hortob. und Scenedesmus armatus (Chod.) Smith wird Captan noch in einer Dosis von 50 mg/l vertragen, ohne daß Anzeichen einer Hemmwirkung zu erkennen sind.

Summary The fungicide captan was found to inhibit strongly the photoautotrophic growth of 37 Chlorella strains. Only 3 strains are fairly resistant to captan. In the genus Chlorella resistance to captan does not seem to be species specific.Two strains of Scenedesmus (Scenedesmus acutus f. alternans Hortob. and Scenedesmus armatus (Chod.) Summary The effects of algal extract (AE) and yeast extract (YE) on the growth of Rhizobium japonicum were studied. YE concentrations above 0,1% inhibited growth. Increased concentrations of AE in growth medium increased bacterial yield up to an extract concentration of 1%. The dependence of growth on nickel supply was studied in Chlorella emersonii 211-8b. After transfer to Ni2+ deficient medium containing only 0.5±0.2 g/l of Ni2+, production of biomass or daughter cells dropped to 55±5% of the controls, and the cells became chlorotic. These symptoms of deficiency disappeared completely by supplying adequate amounts of nickel. They were, however, only partially reversible by cobalt. A survey for 1,3,6,7-tetrahydroxy-C-glycosylxanthones of representative species within the primitive vascular plants, emphasizing the leptosporangiate ferns, has indicated a limited distribution of these compounds within three leptosporangiate families: Hymenophyllaceae, Aspleniaceae and Marsileaceae. In the Hymenophyllaceae the distribution of these compounds appears to be a useful criterion for segregating species of Mecodium from other species of Hymenophyllum (sensu lato) and suggests that the tubulate vs. the valvate indusial condition may not be an ideal character for separating all species of Hymenophyllum (s.l.) from those of Trichomanes (s.l.). These compounds appear useful for delimiting several species of Elaphoglossum section Pachyglossa and support a relationship among the Aspleniaceae, Athyriaceae, and Elaphoglossaceae. Their presence in Marsilea also raises questions as to the origin of this group of plants. 相似文献

1-Naphthalenesulfonate (1-NS) was utilized by axenic cultures of Scenedesmus obliquus and by 5 other green microalgae as the sole source of sulfur. For all algae under study, 2-naphthalenesulfonate was definitely inferior to 1-NS as a source of sulfur. The rate of disapperance of 1-NS from the medium was measured by HPLC and, indirectly, by relating growth to sulfur supply. The physiological availability of 1-NS sulfur for Scenedesmus obliquus amounted to about 14% of sulfate sulfur. 1-Naphthol appeared as the major metabolite of 1-NS. Hence, it was concluded that 1-NS underwent a desulfonation which also took place in the presence of moderate concentrations of sulfate.Abbreviations HPLC

Gold salts and phenylbutazone selectively inhibit the synthesis of PGF2α and PGE2 respectively. Lowered production of one prostaglandin species is accompanied by an increased production of the other. Selective inhibition by these drugs was observed in the presence of adrenaline, reduced glutathione and copper sulphate under conditions when most anti-inflammatory compounds inhibited PGE2 and PGF2α syntheses equally. It is postulated that selective inhibitors may have a different mode of action
and beneficial effects may be related to the endogenous ratio of PGE to PGF required for normal function. 相似文献

Abstract: White-tailed deer (Odocoileus virginianus) are important game mammals and potential reservoirs of diseases of domestic livestock; thus, diseases of deer are of great concern to wildlife managers. Contact, either direct or indirect, is necessary for disease transmission, but we know little about the ecological contexts that promote intrasexual contact among deer. Using pair-wise direct contacts estimated from Global Positioning System collar locations and joint utilization distributions (JUDs), we assessed habitats in which contacts occur to test whether direct contact rates among female white-tailed deer in different social groups differs among land-cover types. We also tested whether contact rates differed among seasons, lunar phases, and times of day. We obtained locations from 27 female deer for periods of 0.5–17 months during 2002–2006. We designated any simultaneous pair of locations for 2 deer <25 m apart as a direct contact. For each season, we used compositional analysis to compare land-cover types where 2 deer had contact to available land-cover weighted by their JUD. We used mixed-model logistic regression to test for effects of season, lunar phase, and time of day on contact rates. Contact rates during the gestation season were greater than expected from random use in forest and grassland cover, whereas contact rates during the fawning period were greater in agricultural fields than in other land-cover types. Contact rates were greatest during the rut and lowest in summer. Diel patterns of contact rates varied with season, and contact rates were elevated during full moon compared to other lunar periods. Both spatial and temporal analyses suggest that contact between female deer in different social groups occurs mainly during feeding, which highlights the potential impact of food distribution and habitat on contact rates among deer. By using methods to associate contacts and land-cover, we have created beneficial tools for more elaborate and detailed studies of disease transmission. Promiscuous coupling between G protein-coupled receptors and multiple species of heterotrimeric G proteins provides a potential mechanism for expanding the diversity of G protein-coupled receptor signaling. We have examined the mechanism and functional consequences of dual Gs/Gi protein coupling of the beta3-adrenergic receptor (beta3AR) in 3T3-F442A adipocytes. The beta3AR selective agonist disodium (R, R)-5-[2[[2-(3-chlorophenyl)-2-hydroxyethyl]-amino]propyl]-1, 3-benzodioxole-2,2-dicarboxylate (CL316,243) stimulated a dose-dependent increase in cAMP production in adipocyte plasma membrane preparations, and pretreatment of cells with pertussis toxin resulted in a further 2-fold increase in cAMP production by CL316,243. CL316,243 (5 microM) stimulated the incorporation of 8-azido-[32P]GTP into Galphas (1.57 +/- 0.12; n = 3) and Galphai (1. 68 +/- 0.13; n = 4) in adipocyte plasma membranes, directly demonstrating that beta3AR stimulation results in Gi-GTP exchange. The beta3AR-stimulated increase in 8-azido-[32P]GTP labeling of Galphai was equivalent to that obtained with the A1-adenosine receptor agonist N6-cyclopentyladenosine (1.56 +/- 0.07; n = 4), whereas inclusion of unlabeled GTP (100 microM) eliminated all binding. Stimulation of the beta3AR in 3T3-F442A adipocytes led to a 2-3-fold activation of mitogen-activated protein (MAP) kinase, as measured by extracellular signal-regulated kinase-1 and -2 (ERK1/2) phosphorylation. Pretreatment of cells with pertussis toxin (PTX) eliminated MAP kinase activation by beta3AR, demonstrating that this response required receptor coupling to Gi. Expression of the human beta3AR in HEK-293 cells reconstituted the PTX-sensitive stimulation of MAP kinase, demonstrating that this phenomenon is not exclusive to adipocytes or to the rodent beta3AR. ERK1/2 activation by the beta3AR was insensitive to the cAMP-dependent protein kinase inhibitor H-89 but was abolished by genistein and AG1478. These data indicate that constitutive beta3AR coupling to Gi proteins serves both to restrain Gs-mediated activation of adenylyl cyclase and to initiate additional signal transduction pathways, including the ERK1/2 MAP kinase cascade. 相似文献

Pannexins (Panxs) are a multifaceted family of ion and metabolite channels that play key roles in a number of physiological and pathophysiological settings. These single membrane large-pore channels exhibit a variety of tissue, cell type, and subcellular distributions. The lifecycles of Panxs are complex, yet must be understood to accurately target these proteins for future therapeutic use. Here we review the basics of Panx function and localization, and then analyze the recent advances in knowledge regarding Panx trafficking. We examine several intrinsic features of Panxs including specific post-translational modifications, the divergent C-termini, and oligomerization, all of which contribute to Panx anterograde transport pathways. Further, we examine the potential influence of extrinsic factors, such as protein-protein interactions, on Panx trafficking. Finally, we highlight what is currently known with respect to Panx internalization and retrograde transport, and present new data illustrating Panx1 internalization following an activating stimulus. 相似文献
