The maximum productivity of -glucosidase by Saccharomyces cerevisiaerecombinants under the control of GALI promoter was 100 IU l–1 h–1. The highest productivity of -glucosidase by a S. cerevisiae recombinant was 16-fold more than that supported by Cellulomonas biazotea. To generate the first series of prodigiosene conjugates, the tripyrrolic skeleton was appended to estrone, tamoxifen and porphyrin frameworks by way of ester linkers and various hydrocarbon chain lengths. The ability of the conjugates to inhibit various types of cancer cells was evaluated in vitro. The porphyrin conjugates did not exhibit significant activity. The estrone conjugates exhibited modest activity, for the most part. However, significantly greater growth inhibition activity against certain breast, colon, lung, leukemia, melanoma and prostate cell lines was noted. This unusual effect for this first generation model class of compound warrants further investigation and comparison to cases where estrogens are linked to prodigiosenes via connection points that do not feature in estrogen receptor binding. The 4-hydroxytamoxifen conjugates exhibit nanomolar range activity against the MCF-7 breast cancer cell line, paving the way to expand the scope and connectivity of prodigiosene–tamoxifen conjugates. 相似文献

The population abundance, infestation, and harmful effects of the aphid Aphis craccivora Koch (Hemiptera: Aphididae) were studied on four bean plant species, namely the country bean (Lablab purpureus var. BARI Seem 1), the yard‐long bean (Vigna sesquipedalis var. BARI Borboti 1), the hyacinth bean (Dolichos lablab var. BARI Seem 6), and the bush bean (Phaseolus vulgaris var. BARI Jar Seem 3). Aphid abundance and infestation on the leaves, inflorescences, flowers, and pods differed significantly among the bean plant species, with P. vulgaris and V. sesquipedalis having the lowest and highest results, respectively. Aphid severity grade and the number of trichomes of the bean plant species were negatively correlated. The duration of the growth stages among the bean plant species were significantly different, with V. sesquipedalis having the shortest durations. Aphid abundance and infestation significantly affected the physical and phytochemical characteristics of the bean plant species. The highest reduction of number of leaves, flower inflorescences, and pod inflorescences per plant, and moisture and chlorophyll content in the leaves was found in L. purpureus. The results for V. sesquipedalis revealed the highest reduction in plant height, seed weight, and pH, while those of D. lablab showed the highest reduction in leaf area. 相似文献

Background
We combined hospital-based surveillance and health utilization survey data to estimate the incidence of respiratory viral infections associated hospitalization among children aged < 5 years in Bangladesh.Methods
Surveillance physicians collected respiratory specimens from children aged <5 years hospitalized with respiratory illness and residing in the primary hospital catchment areas. We tested respiratory specimens for respiratory syncytial virus, parainfluenza viruses, human metapneumovirus, influenza, adenovirus and rhinoviruses using rRT-PCR. During 2013, we conducted a health utilization survey in the primary catchment areas of the hospitals to determine the proportion of all hospitalizations for respiratory illness among children aged <5 years at the surveillance hospitals during the preceding 12 months. We estimated the respiratory virus-specific incidence of hospitalization by dividing the estimated number of hospitalized children with a laboratory confirmed infection with a respiratory virus by the population aged <5 years of the catchment areas and adjusted for the proportion of children who were hospitalized at the surveillance hospitals.Results
We estimated that the annual incidence per 1000 children (95% CI) of all cause associated respiratory hospitalization was 11.5 (10–12). The incidences per 1000 children (95% CI) per year for respiratory syncytial virus, parainfluenza, adenovirus, human metapneumovirus and influenza infections were 3(2–3), 0.5(0.4–0.8), 0.4 (0.3–0.6), 0.4 (0.3–0.6), and 0.4 (0.3–0.6) respectively. The incidences per 1000 children (95%CI) of rhinovirus-associated infections among hospitalized children were 5 (3–7), 2 (1–3), 1 (0.6–2), and 3 (2–4) in 2010, 2011, 2012 and 2013, respectively.Conclusion
Our data suggest that respiratory viruses are associated with a substantial burden of hospitalization in children aged <5 years in Bangladesh. 相似文献8.
BACKGROUND: The relative rarity of collecting duct carcinoma (CDC) of the kidney in conjunction with a lack of distinctive cytologic features is a diagnostic challenge for any cytopathologist when dealing with such a tumor on fine needle aspiration cytology. In previous cytologic reports, CDC is not well characterized, and the features overlapped with those of high grade renal cell carcinoma (RCC). Because of the differences in behavior and treatment from conventional RCC, it is important to attempt to diagnose this tumor correctly. CASE: The cytologic findings of CDC in a 56-year-old woman were distinctive and not emphasized previously. Ductal/tubular differentiation, prominent desmoplastic stromal component, neutrophilic infiltration and the presence of numerous tubules ranging from benign to dysplastic and frankly malignant were notable features of this tumor. The expression of high-molecular-weight cytokeratin and Ulex europaeus agglutinin helped to confirm the diagnosis. CONCLUSION: The present case highlights several characteristic cytologic features that were useful in suggesting the diagnosis of CDC on fine needle aspiration cytology. We studied the effects of fungal endophyte infection of meadow ryegrass (Lolium pratense=Festuca pratensis) on the frequency of the barley yellow dwarf virus (BYDV). The virus is transferred by aphids, which may be deterred by endophyte-origin alkaloids within the plant. In our experiment, we released viruliferous aphid vectors on endophyte-infected and endophyte-free plants in a common garden. The number of aphids and the percentage of BYDV infections were lower in endophyte-infected plants compared to endophyte-free plants, indicating that endophyte infection may protect meadow ryegrass from BYDV infections. 相似文献

Three new phenolic compounds, sorlanin (4-(3-(hydroxymethyl)-5-methoxy-7-phenyl-2,3-dihydrobenzo[b][1,4]dioxin-2-yl)-2-methoxyphenol, 1), sorbanin (2-((3,5-dimethoxy-[1,1′-biphenyl]-4-yl)oxy)-1-(4-hydroxy-3-methoxyphenyl)propane-1,3-diol, 2) and sorbalanin (4-(3-(hydroxymethyl)-5,6-dimethoxy-2,3-dihydrobenzo[b][1,4]dioxino[2,3-g]benzofuran-2-yl)-2-methoxyphenol, 3), together with eight known compounds, polystachyol (4), isolariciresinol (5), dihydrodehydrodiconiferyl alcohol (6), tuberculatin (7), ovafolinin E (8), aucuparin (9), 2′-methoxyaucuparin (10), and tetracosyl-3-(3,4-dihydroxyphenyl)acrylate (11), were isolated from Sorbus lanata. The structures of these phytoconstituents were elucidated through extensive spectroscopic techniques, including UV, IR, 1D and 2D NMR, ESI-MS and HRESI-MS experiments. All the compounds except 9 and 10 were isolated for the first time from the genus Sorbus. The isolated compounds were also tested in DPPH radical scavenging reaction where compounds 6, 7, 10 and 11 showed significant activities with IC50 values of 9.2, 11.7, 23.0 and 33.7 μM, respectively. 相似文献
