ABSTRACT:?

Membrane technology for the processing of fruit juices and beverages has been applied mainly for clarification using ultrafiltration and microfiltration, and for concentration using reverse osmosis. The effects of product preparation, membrane selection, and operating parameters are important factors influencing filtration rate and product quality. Technological advances related to the development of new membranes, improvement in process engineering, and better understanding of fruit beverage constituents have expanded the range of membrane separation processes. Developments in novel membrane processes, including electrodialysis and pervaporation, increased the array of applications in combination with other technologies for alternate uses in fruit juices and beverages.  相似文献

CLTOAB is an ammonium-based ionic liquid composed of ε-Caprolactam (CL) C6H11NO and tetraoctylammonium bromide (TOAB) (C32H68BrN). In this study, experimental IR and Raman spectra of CLTOAB ionic liquid together with the computational results of the compound have been reported. The optimized geometry, vibrational frequencies, IR intensities and Raman activities of the CLTOAB were calculated using the wb97xd and B3LYP density functional methods combined with the 6-31G(d,p) basis set using Gaussian 03 program. The complete assignment of the bands was performed based on the potential energy distributions (PED%). The HOMO and LUMO analysis is used to determine the charge transfer within the molecule. The Gauge-including atomic orbital 1H-NMR and 13C-NMR chemical shifts calculations were carried out and compared with the experimental data. Furthermore to evaluate interaction between CLTOAB and DNA, molecular docking study was carried out.

We investigated the effect of long‐term exposure to modulation magnetic field (MF), insulin, and their combination on blood–brain barrier (BBB) permeability in a diabetic rat model. Fifty‐three rats were randomly assigned to one of six groups: sham, exposed to no MF; MF, exposed to MF; diabetes mellitus (DM), DM induced with streptozotocin (STZ); DM plus MF (DMMF); DM plus insulin therapy (DMI); and DM plus insulin therapy plus MF (DMIMF). All the rats underwent Evans blue (EB) measurement to evaluate the BBB 30 days after the beginning of experiments. The rats in MF, DMMF, and DMIMF groups were exposed to MF (B = 5 mT) for 165 min every day for 30 days. Mean arterial blood pressure (MABP), body mass, and serum glucose level of the study rats were recorded. The extravasation of brain EB of the MF, DM, DMMF, DMI, and DMIMF groups was higher than that of the sham group and the extravasation of right hemisphere of the DMIMF group was highest (P < 0.05). The post‐procedure body mass of the sham and MF groups were significantly higher than those of the DM and DMMF groups (P < 0.05). In the DM, DMMF, DMI, and DMIMF groups, the baseline glucose was significantly lower than the post‐procedure glucose (P < 0.05). DM and MF increase BBB permeability; in combination, they cause more increase in BBB permeability, and insulin decreases their effect on BBB. Improved glucose metabolism may prevent body mass loss and the hypoglycemic effect of MF. DM increases MABP but MF causes no additional effect. Experimental design is a form of process analysis in which certain factors are selected to obtain the desired responses of interest. It may also be used for the determination of the effects of various independent factors on a dependent factor. The bioengineering discipline includes many different areas of scientific interest, and each study area is affected and governed by many different factors. Briefly analyzing the important factors and selecting an experimental design for optimization are very effective tools for the design of any bioprocess under question. This review summarizes experimental design methods that can be used to investigate various factors relating to bioengineering processes. The experimental methods generally used in bioengineering are as follows: full factorial design, fractional factorial design, Plackett–Burman design, Taguchi design, Box–Behnken design and central composite design. These design methods are briefly introduced, and then the application of these design methods to study different bioengineering processes is analyzed.  相似文献

Cisplatin (CP) treatment causes the damage in male reproductive system. Carvacrol (CARV) is an antioxidant that is naturally found in some plants. We aimed to investigate the effect of CARV on CP‐induced reproductive toxicity in male rats. Eighteen adult male Sprague–Dawley rats were used. The control group (n = 6) was treated orally with physiological saline (PS) daily for 14 days and a single intraperitoneal (IP) PS injection on day 10. The CP group (n = 6) was administered with daily oral PS for 14 days and a single IP injection of 10 mg/kg CP on day 10. The CARV + CP group (n = 6) was treated with daily 75 mg/kg oral CARV for 14 days and a single IP injection of 10 mg/kg CP on day 10. CP treatment caused the damage on some spermatological parameters (motility, live sperm rate, and abnormal sperm rate), increased the oxidative stress, and induced testicular degeneration and apoptosis. However, CARV treatment mitigates CP‐induced reproductive toxicity.  相似文献

Paracetamol (PC) is a widely used analgesic and antipyretic drug, but it leads to acute hepatotoxicity at high doses intakes. This study was aimed to investigate the effects of Chrysin (CR) on hepatotoxicity constituted at high doses of PC in rats. Rats were subjected to oral pretreatment of CR (25 and 50 mg/kg b.w.) via feeding needle for 6 days against hepatotoxicity induced by a single dose of PC (500 mg/kg b.w.) administered orally via feeding needles. Although PC increases lipid peroxidation and liver enzyme activities, it has led to reduction of antioxidant enzyme activities. PC induced inflammatory responses by increasing the levels of TNF‐α and IL‐1β. Furthermore, PC caused apoptosis and autophagy by increasing activity of Caspase‐3 and LC3B level. On the other hand, CR therapy significantly regulated these values in rats. This study demonstrated that CR possesses restorative effect against PC‐induced hepatotoxicity by suppressing oxidative stress, inflammation, and apoptotic and autophagic tissue damage.  相似文献

Doxorubicin (DXR) is a highly effective drug for chemotherapy. However, cardiotoxicity reduces its clinical utility in humans. The present study aimed to assess the ameliorative effect of curcumin against DXR‐induced cardiotoxicity in rats. Rats were subjected to oral treatment of curcumin (100 and 200 mg/kg body weight) for 7 days. Cardiotoxicity was induced by single intraperitoneal injection of DXR (40 mg/kg body weight) on the 5th day and the rats sacrificed on 8th day. Curcumin ameliorated DXR‐induced lipid peroxidation, glutathione depletion, decrease in antioxidant (superoxide dismutase, catalase, and glutathione peroxidase) enzyme activities, and cardiac toxicity markers (CK‐MB, LDH, and cTn‐I). Curcumin also attenuated activities of Caspase‐3, cyclooxygenase‐2, inducible nitric oxide synthase, and levels of nuclear factor kappa‐B, tumor necrosis factor‐α, and interleukin‐1β, and cardiac tissue damages that were induced by DXR. Moreover, curcumin decreased the expression of 8‐OHdG and 3,3′‐dityrosine. This study demonstrated that curcumin has a multi‐cardioprotective effect due to its antioxidant, anti‐inflammatory, and antiapoptotic properties.  相似文献

Familial Mediterranean Fever (FMF) is an autosomal recessive genetic disorder characterised by recurrent and self-limited abdominal pain, synovitis and pleuritis. MEFV gene mutations are responsible from the disease and its protein product, pyrin or marenostrin, plays an essential role in the regulation of the inflammatory reactions. MEFV gene contains 10 exons and most of the mutations have been found on the last exon. Up to date, 152 mutations and polymorpisms have been reported inwhere V726A, M694V, M694I, M680I and E148Q are the most common mutations. In this study, MEFV allele frequencies of 136 individuals (60 from Pediatry, 76 from Internal Medicine) have been evaluated, and compared with each other. Asymptomatic individuals with FMF family history (4 from Pediatry, 6 from Internal Medicine) were excluded from the analysis. The prominent mutations indicated in the Pediatry group are V726A, M694V and M680I (G/C) and with the allele frequency of 0.06, 0.05 and 0.04 respectively while they were E148Q, M694V, M680I (G/C) in the Internal Medicine group with the allele frequency of 0.12, 0.08 and 0.04. The E148Q mutation is significantly overrepresented in the adult referrals (= 0.02). Mutation on both alleles was observed in only 12% of cases. Overall mutation frequency was low, seen in 26.2% (66/252). However, when only diagnosed patients were analyzed it is 72.7% (16/22). It is also interesting that 63% of individuals are female that there may be sex influence on FMF phenotype.  相似文献
