Macrophage migration inhibitory factor (MIF) is a glycosylated multi-functional protein that acts as an enzyme as well as a cytokine. MIF mediates its actions through a cell surface class II major histocompatibility chaperone, CD74 and co-receptors such as CD44, CXCR2, CXCR4 or CXCR7. MIF has been implicated in the pathogenesis of several acute and chronic inflammatory diseases. Although MIF is a molecule of biomedical importance, a public resource of MIF signaling pathway is currently lacking. In view of this, we carried out detailed data mining and documentation of the signaling events pertaining to MIF from published literature and developed an integrated reaction map of MIF signaling. This resulted in the cataloguing of 68 molecules belonging to MIF signaling pathway, which includes 24 protein-protein interactions, 44 post-translational modifications, 11 protein translocation events and 8 activation/inhibition events. In addition, 65 gene regulation events at the mRNA levels induced by MIF signaling have also been catalogued. This signaling pathway has been integrated into NetPath (http://www.netpath.org), a freely available human signaling pathway resource developed previously by our group. The MIF pathway data is freely available online in various community standard data exchange formats. We expect that data on signaling events and a detailed signaling map of MIF will provide the scientific community with an improved platform to facilitate further molecular as well as biomedical investigations on MIF.  相似文献

Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) is a viral infection caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2). From March 2020, several studies indicate that many subjects affected by mild-to-moderate COVID-19 presented olfactory/gustatory dysfunction (OD/GD) that appeared strongly correlated between them but not with the other symptoms suggestive of upper airway infectionIn order to evaluate patterns of gustatoy recovery, data from patients with confirmed COVID-19 were collected prospectively from 4 University Hospitals. At this relatively early point in the pandemic, the authors considered that subjective patterns of recovery of olfactory disfunction in COVID-19 patients are valuable for our patients, for hypothesis generation and treatment development.  相似文献

Endogenous lectins act as effectors of cellular activities such as growth regulation, migration, and adhesion. Following their immunohistochemical localization in our previous study (Saussez et al. in Histochem Cell Biol 123:29–41, 2005) we purified several galectins and used them as tools for monitoring accessible binding sites. Herein, we report the use of galectin histochemistry for the analysis of diethylstilbestrol (DES)-induced renal tumors in male Syrian hamster kidney (SHKT). Sections of normal kidney and DES-treated kidney were analyzed with biotinylated galectins-1, -3 (full-length and truncated), and -7. Accessible binding sites were detected, localization was predominantly extracellular and confined to medium-sized and large tumors. Monitoring the SHKT-derived HKT-1097 line, processed in vitro or as xenograft material, cytoplasmic and nuclear staining for galectins-1, -3, and -3tr could be observed. Adaptation of SHKT cells to long-term growth in culture is thus associated with emergence of this signal. Our data set illustrates the feasibility to complement immunohistochemical data by application of the tissue lectins as probes, and to detect regulation of galectin reactivity with differential characteristics within tumor progression in vivo and unique features of the tumor cell line in vitro and in vivo.  相似文献
