Adenine and Guanine Salvage in Suspension Cultured Cells of Catharanthus roseus

Changes in the activity of adenine and guanine salvage in nucleotideand nucleic acid synthesis during the growth of Catharanthusroseus were investigated. Incorporation of [8-¹⁴C]adenine intoATP and ADP and that of [8-¹⁴C]guanine into GTP and GDP increasedmarkedly in the lag phase of cell growth and then sharply decreased.The incorporation into RNA from both precursors showed a similarpattern.
