Pattern of ribonucleic acid synthesis in vitro in primary spermatocytes from mouse testis carrying an X-autosome translocation 总被引:7,自引:0,他引:7
In an attempt to elucidate the mechanism of sterility of X-autosome translocations in the mouse, we studied the distribution of [3H]-uridine incorporation in sterile males carrying the balanced X-16 reciprocal translocation. The results failed to show an overall reactivation of the X as has been postulated by Lifschytz and Lindsley (1972) but there was some spreading of X inactivation along the translocated and normal chromosome 16 in those regions that were close to the X breakpoint. We feel that this process could be responsible for metabolic disturbances leading to degeneration of primary spermatocytes and, therefore, to sterility. 相似文献

In this study three different techniques suitable to recover high molecular weight genomic DNA from small blood samples of
different species of malagasy primates are compared: we suggest the use of a very simple phenol-chlorophorm DNA extraction
for badly stored or coagulated blood as for samples collected under difficult field conditions.

A cytogenetic study of almost all the Malagasy lemurs, of several representative Lorisiforms and one representative each of Tupaiiforms and Tarsiforms is reported. A phylogenic tree was constructed for all species exceptTarsius syrichta, which could not be related to either Prosimians or Simians. Three branches emerge, independentely or after a short common trunk, from the ancestral karyotype of all the Primates. One branch leads to the Lorisiforms, another to the Lemuriforms and the third to the Tupaïa. The chromosomal evolution of the Lorisiforms which gave rise to the Galagidae and the Lorisidae is of a populational mode, while among the Lemuriforms 4 modes of speciation have occurred: populational for the Indriidae, dichotomic for the Lepilemuridae, bushy for the Lemuridae and a catenary one for the Hapelemurs. 相似文献

Analysis for genetic variation of insular and mainland populations ofEulemur macaco has revealed: (1) a different degree of genetic variation between populations; and (2) the phylogenetic relationships between
groups, on the islands of Nosy-Be and Nosy-Komba, and in the Peninsula of Ambato (Madagascar). Eleven systems of blood proteins
from 157 animals were used as genetic markers. The genetic variation was lower on the island of Nosy-Komba than in the mainland
of Ambato. This is consistent with the expectation that genetic variation is lower on islands than on mainlands. In contrast,
the genetic variation on the island of Nosy-Be was the highest of the three populations. This finding can best be explained
by assuming that the sample of Nosy-Be consists of individuals of several small isolated groups, where genetic drift computation
showed the population of Nosy-Be to be distinct, and the populations of Nosy-Komba and Ambato to be close within the same
branch of the dendrogram. These findings give an insight into the population history of the island of Nosy-Komba, which might

The systematic position of the extinctPachylemur insignis has been controversial: some authors consideredPachylemur as a lemur, whereas others viewed it closer toVarecia. A meiotic study was performed on testicular biopsies of men ascertained through primary fertility and found to be heterozygous for reciprocal translocation, Robertsonian translocations, inversions and extra chromosomes. The comparative study of the karyotypes of Microcebus (Lemur, Cheirogaleid) and Cebus (Platyrrhini, Ceboid) shows important similarities between nearly all large chromosomes of these two genera. Since a relationship has been previously found between the Karyotypes of Homo and Cebus, a correspondence may be found between many chromosomes of man and those of Lemurs. While several morphometric analyses in lemurids have focused on the craniofacial complex, the characterization of their mandibular morphology has received less attention. The mandibular outline, in lateral perspective, was quantified using elliptical Fourier analysis, in an osteological sample encompassing 189 lemurid mandibles (66 Eulemur, 51 Hapalemur, 22 Lemur and 50 Varecia), and compared using multivariate statistical techniques. The taxonomic value of this outline in Lemuridae was demonstrated by the existence of significant separations between the four genera studied. In particular, the mandibular morphology of Hapalemur was markedly different from that in the group Eulemur-Lemur-Varecia. Excluding Hapalemur from analysis, the distinctions between Eulemur, Lemur and Varecia were enhanced suggesting the existence of more subtle intergeneric differences in mandibular morphology. Variation in mandibular form was greatest in Hapalemur and smallest in Eulemur and Varecia (as demonstrated by the mean values of interindividual distances); variation was higher in Lemur than in Eulemur and Varecia, but not higher than in Hapalemur. This morphological diversity may be related to functional adaptation in response to particular dietary habits. The patterns of intergeneric and intrageneric shape variations of the mandible in Lemuridae presented here provide a valuable resource for the analysis of variation among living and fossil lemurids. 相似文献
