Ontogenetic studies of the eggs and larvae of fish can provide information on the initial life history and biology of a species, are important for taxonomic and evolutionary studies, and for cultivation in captivity. The aim of this study was to analyze and describe the main morphological differences in the larval ontogeny of Pseudoplatystoma reticulatum, Leiarius marmoratus, and its hybrid (♀ P. reticulatum × ♂ L. marmoratus), as well as to identify characteristics that can identify the species and their hybrid at the larvae and juvenile stages. 205 L. marmoratus, 210 P. reticulatum, and 205 hybrid specimens were analyzed, all of which were obtained through induced reproduction. Analyses were performed from hatching to 30 days post-hatching. 19 morphometric and 5 meristic characteristics were evaluated, in addition to chromatophore shape and distribution. The specimens were classified into two life periods: Larval (stages: yolk sac, pre-flexion, flexion, and post-flexion) and Juvenile. Newly hatched larvae were transparent, poorly developed, and had a scarcity of chromatophores. During the early stages of larval development, the three groups showed similarities in appearance and proportional dimensions. However, at both the end of the post-flexion stage and at the juvenile period when individuals were approximately 2 cm long, it was possible to differentiate between hybrids and their parental species by their morphometric, meristic, and pigment characteristics. The hybrid, despite occupying an intermediate position in relationship to its parents, exhibited a shape and size more similar to P. reticulatum, its maternal parent.  相似文献

Individuals of the same species may present different reproductive tactics depending on the environment in which they develop and mature. The present study aimed to define the gonadal development phases of males and females of Astyanax rivularis and to carry out a comparative analysis of the reproductive development of specimens captured in two isolated environments of the São Francisco River basin in Serra da Canastra, Brazil (Point 1: low vegetation and river showing calm and crystalline waters with small well formations; Point 2: current waters, and well-established areas of arboreal vegetation). Thus, the gonads of A. rivularis specimens were collected, fixed and processed with techniques for light microscopy. Five maturation phases of the females' reproductive cycle were established: immature, developing, spawning capable, regressing and regenerating. Three maturation phases of the males' reproductive cycle were observed: spawning capable, regressing, and regenerating. There are differences in the phases of gonadal development of A. rivularis between the two sampling points so that, possibly, animals upstream of the waterfall demonstrate a delay in the reproductive cycle in relation to animals downstream.  相似文献

Aiming to provide data on the biology of Leiarius marmoratus, which will aid in its production in captivity, as well as in studies for its preservation in the environment, this work had as objectives: analyze and describe main morphological alterations during larval ontogeny of the species. We analyzed 205 individuals, obtained by induced reproduction (Colpani Pisciculture) and kept in CEPTA/ICMBIO, Pirassununga, São Paulo, Brazil. Analyses were performed from hatching moment to 30th day. The specimens were classified into two periods: larval (Stages: vitelline, pre‐flexion, flexion, post‐flexion) and juvenile. Hatched larvae showed ident chromatophores only at anterior and posterior extremities of yolk sac. The standard length ranged from 2.16 mm (yolk) to 28.84 mm (Youth). Dorsal fin rays were initially observed at flexion stage (12–14 rays). Major alterations occurred during post‐flexion/juvenile stage, when dorsal, pectoral, pelvic, anal, and caudal fins were observed and pigmentation intensified throughout the lateral region, forming bands in the body, one between the end of the head and beginning of dorsal to pelvic fin, and another one beginning at dorsal to caudal peduncle and four longitudinal at the head.  相似文献
