An investigation on inheritance of qualitative traits in dolichos bean revealed biallelic monogenic control of photoperiod-induced sensitivity to flowering time and flower colour in F 2 and F 3 generations. While, growth habit and pod curvature are each controlled by two genes that exhibit classical complementary epistasis, raceme emergence was controlled by two genes that displayed classical inhibitory epistasis. The dominant alleles, at two different unlinked pairs of genes are necessary for plants to exhibit indeterminate growth habit and bear straight pods. Any other combination of alleles at the two pairs of genes result in plants displaying determinate growth habit and bearing curved pods. While, the genes controlling growth habit, PSFT and raceme emergence are linked. Those controlling flower colour and pod curvature are segregated independent of each other. These results are discussed in relation to strategies for breeding dolichos bean.  相似文献

Abstract. 1. Alloxysta pleuralis (Cameron) is a cynipoid (Hymenoptera) hyperparasitoid of aphids (Homoptera) through their aphidiid (Hymenoptera) parasitoids.
2. It was recorded attacking five aphidiids, Lysiphlebus delhiensis (Subba Rao & Sharma), Trioxys indicus Subba Rao & Sharma, Aphidius uzbekistanicus Luzhetzki, Lipolexis scutellaris Mackauer and Lysiphlebia mirzai Shuja-Uddin (in order of preference) out of eight species of aphidiid parasitoids tested.
3. Percentage of hyperparasitism of aphids infesting cucurbits, cereals and pulses is higher than in solanaceous crops. Maximum hyperparasitism was recorded on the T. indicus/Aphis gossypii Glover/cucurbit complex.
4. The aphid host as well as the food plants significantly influence its efficiency.
5. A.pleuralis is abundant in northeastern Uttar Pradesh in winter (December–March) when large areas of pulses, cereals and cucurbits are infested with aphids serving as hosts for the primary parasitoids.  相似文献

Central Himalayan region of India encompasses varied ecological habitats ranging from near tropics to the mid-elevation forests dominated by cool-temperate taxa. In past, we have reported several new records and novel species from Uttarakhand state of India. Here, we assessed genetic variations in three mitochondrial genes, namely, 16S rRNA, cytochrome c oxidase subunit I and cytochrome c oxidase subunit II (COI and COII) in 26 drosophilid species collected along altitudinal transect from 550 to 2700 m above mean sea level. In the present study, overall 543 sequences were generated, 82 for 16S rRNA, 238 for COI, 223 for COII with 21, 47 and 45 mitochondrial haplotypes for 16S rRNA, COI and COII genes, respectively. Almost all species were represented by 2–3 unique mitochondrial haplotypes, depicting a significant impact of environmental heterogeneity along altitudinal gradient on genetic diversity. Also for the first time, molecular data of some rare species like Drosophila mukteshwarensis, Liodrosophila nitida, Lordiphosa parantillaria, Lordiphosa ayarpathaensis, Scaptomyza himalayana, Scaptomyza tistai, Zaprionus grandis and Stegana minuta are provided to public domains through this study.  相似文献

Characteristics of Transport of L-Leucine and Glycine in Pea Protoplasts   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
The uptake of L-leucine and glycine into pea protoplasts wasstudied under various conditions. The uptake of both L-leucineand glycine was pH dependent with the optimal pH being 4.0 and5.0 for L-leucine and glycine, respectively. A kinetic studyof L-leucine uptake showed that uptake is multiphasic; Km valuesof different phases were 1.1 mol m–3, 33.3 mol m–3and 100 mol m3. A similar analysis for glycine at a concentrationrange of 0.1–10 mol m–3 also showed a multiphasictransport system for it. The uptake of L-leucine at lower concentrations(between0.1–2.0 mol m–3) was energy dependent, since arsenate,azide, dinitrophenol and iodoacetate inhibited the uptake. However,the uptake of L-leucine was not inhibited by ouabain at anyconcentration of L-leucine employed. The uptake of glycine wasnot inhibited by any of these inhibitors suggesting that glycineuptake was not mediated by an active process. ADAM33, a member of the ADAM (a disintegrin and metalloprotease) gene family, is an asthma susceptibility gene originally identified by positional cloning. In the present study, we investigated the possible association of five single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in the ADAM33 (rs511898, rs528557, rs44707, rs597980 and rs2787094) with adult-onset asthma in an Indian population. The study included 175 patients with mild intermittent (n = 44), mild persistent (n = 108) or moderate persistent (n = 23) subgroups of asthma, and 253 nonasthmatic control individuals. SNPs were genotyped with the help of restriction fragment length polymorphism polymerase chain reaction (RFLP-PCR) method, and data were analysed using chi-square test and logistic regression model. Bonferroni’s correction for multiple comparisons was applied for each hypothesis. Genotypes and allele frequencies of SNPs rs511898 and rs528557 were significantly associated with adult-onset asthma (P = 0.010-<0.001). A significant association of the homozygous mutant genotype and mutant alleles of SNPs rs2787094, rs44707 and rs597980 with the asthma was also observed (P = 0.020-<0.001). A positive association between asthma and haplotypes AGCCT, GGCCT, AGACT, GCAGT, GGACT, ACCCC and AGACC were also found (P = 0.036-<0.001, OR = 2.07–8.49). Haplotypes AGCGT, GCAGC, ACAGC, ACAGT, GGAGC and GGCGT appear to protect against asthma (P = 0.013-<0.0001, OR = 0.34–0.10). Our data suggest that ADAM33 gene polymorphisms serve as genetic risk factors for asthma in Indian adult population.  相似文献

Pattern and extent to which the main shoot of rice (Oryza sativa L.) cv. Pusa 33 assimilates NO3- when grown under lowland conditions was determined in a field study. The in vivo NR (nitrate reductase) activity is low as compared to the value in other cereals grown under aerobic soil conditions. The leaf blades had higher NR activity (g fr. wt.)-1 than the sheaths and stem. Calculation of total NO3- (mol) reduced in the main shoot, obtained by integrating the in vivo NR assay values per plant part and per day over the duration for which the various plant parts on the main shoot remained metabolically active, showed that out of the total reduced N at harvest, 16.6% was assimilated via the enzyme nitrate reductase. In the leaf sheaths and stem the NO3- was reduced to slightly over 50% of the total NO3- that was reduced in the main shoot. The rest of the amount was reduced in the leaf blades.  相似文献

L-Lysine uptake was studied in pea protoplasts to characterizethe transport process. The uptake was pH dependent with optimumat pH 5?8. A kinetic analysis of uptake showed that L-lyslneuptake was biphasic. The respiratory inhibitors, sodium arsenate,azide, iodoacetate and 2, 4, dinitrophenol, inhibited the uptakeof L-lysine at a final concentration of 0?1 mol m–3 suggestingit to be mediated in part by an active process. Competitiveinhibition of L-lysine uptake by only L-arglnine and of L-leucineand glycine uptake by several amino acids indicated that L-lysineuptake occurs via a specific system whereas the uptake of L-leucineand glycine was mediated through a relatively non-specific permease.
