E thiraj , S. & S uresh , E.R. 1985. A note on the occurrence of Leuconostoc oenos as a spoilage organism in canned mango juice. Journal of Applied -Bacteriology 59 , 239–242.
A strain of Leuconostoc oenos was isolated from a blown can of mango juice. Various tests to identify and characterize the bacterium suggested that it could be a strain of L. oenos . This is the first report of L. oenos as a spoilage organism in fruit products other than wine.  相似文献

E. RAJASHEKHARA, E.R. SURESH AND S. ETHIRAJ. 1996. A heat-resistant mold identified as a strain of Neosartorya fischeri was isolated from microbiologically spoiled papaya fruits. The optimum heat activation temperature and time for the ascospores of the test mold was found to be 80°C for 15–30 min. The decimal reduction times ( D -values) at 85°, 87° and 89°C in phosphate buffer (pH 7·0) as heating medium were 35·25, 11·1 and 3·90 min respectively and hence the calculated z -value was 4·0°C. In grape and mango juices as heating media, the D 80°C and the D 85°C values were increased as the °Brix level raised from 10 to 45. In commercial fruit juices of mango, orange, pineapple and mango-pineapple blend as heating media D 85°C values were greater than those observed for phosphate buffer.  相似文献

An actidione resistant yeast,Candida tropicalis, was isolated from fermenting custard apple juice. Though a slight inhibition of growth was observed on the first day with 5000 ppm of actidione, growth was equal to control after one week. Sorbic acid at 500 ppm and above inhibited the growth of this yeast while sodium benzoate and potassium metabisulphite were unable to suppress the growth even at 1000 ppm. Fermentation and assimilation of different carbon sources were delayed in the presence of 1000 ppm of actidione suggesting the disruption of protein synthesis by actidione. Length-weight relationship (LWR) parameters were analysed for six demersal finfish species from the Gulf of Mannar coast, Bay of Bengal. Fishes were sampled monthly from the landings of trawlers operated along the coast of Tuticorin and Rameshwaram with a cod-end mesh size of 35 mm at the depth of 60–80 m. Fish specimens were sampled by measuring the total length (TL) and total weight (TW) with precision to 0.1 cm and 0.1 g respectively. The present study also recorded a new maximum total length for Engyprosopon macrolepis, Torquigener brevipinnis and Leiognathus brevirostris.  相似文献

Biallelic mutations in the gene encoding centrosomal CDK5RAP2 lead to autosomal recessive primary microcephaly (MCPH), a disorder characterized by pronounced reduction in volume of otherwise architectonical normal brains and intellectual deficit. The current model for the microcephaly phenotype in MCPH invokes a premature shift from symmetric to asymmetric neural progenitor-cell divisions with a subsequent depletion of the progenitor pool. The isolated neural phenotype, despite the ubiquitous expression of CDK5RAP2, and reports of progressive microcephaly in individual MCPH cases prompted us to investigate neural and non-neural differentiation of Cdk5rap2-depleted and control murine embryonic stem cells (mESC). We demonstrate an accumulating proliferation defect of neurally differentiating Cdk5rap2-depleted mESC and cell death of proliferative and early postmitotic cells. A similar effect does not occur in non-neural differentiation into beating cardiomyocytes, which is in line with the lack of non-central nervous system features in MCPH patients. Our data suggest that MCPH is not only caused by premature differentiation of progenitors, but also by reduced propagation and survival of neural progenitors.  相似文献

A new series of Deacetylsarmentamide A and B derivatives, amides and sulfonamides of 3,4-dihydroxypyrrolidines as α-glucosidase inhibitors were designed and synthesized. The biological screening test against α-glucosidase showed that some of these compounds have the positive inhibitory activity against α-glucosidase. Saturated aliphatic amides were more potent than the olefinic amides. Among all the compounds, 5o/6o having polar –NH2 group, 10f/11f having polar –OH group on phenyl ring displayed 3–4-fold more potent than the standard drugs. Acarbose, Voglibose and Miglitol were used as standard references. The promising compounds 6i, 5o, 6o, 10a, 11a, 10f and 11f have been identified. Molecular docking simulations were done for compounds to identify important binding modes responsible for inhibition activity of α-glucosidase.  相似文献

Synthesis of novel cadmium sulphide nanoparticles has been carried out in aqueous and non-aqueous media. DNA has been added during the synthesis of the nanoparticles, which results into cadmium-rich nanoparticles forming a stable complex with DNA. These particles exhibit strong fluorescence, spectral nature of which depends upon the medium in which the particles are synthesized. When interacted with proteins, fluorescence peak intensity of CdS nanoparticles increases considerably. It is possible that such CdS nanoparticles would be useful as a protein sensor.  相似文献

The discovery of microbial fibrinolytic enzymes is essential to treat cardiovascular diseases. This study reports the discovery of a fibrinolytic enzyme secreted by Bacillus cereus SRM-001, a microorganism isolated from the soil of a chicken waste-dump yard. The B. cereus SRM-001 was cultured and the secreted fibrinolytic enzyme purified to show that it is a ~28 kDa protein. The purified enzyme was characterized for its kinetics, biochemical and thermal properties to show that it possesses properties similar to plasmin. A HPLC-MS/MS analysis of trypsin digested protein indicated that the fibrinolytic enzyme shared close sequence homology with serine proteases reported for other Bacillus sp. The results show that the B. cereus SRM-001 secreted enzyme is a ~28 kDa serine protease that possesses fibrinolytic potential.  相似文献

Fifteen morphologically different groups of yeasts consisting of Metschnikowia pulcherrima, Trichosporon cutaneum, Kloeckera apiculata, Torulopsis Candida, Tor. glabrata. Tor. apicola, Candida tropicalis, Cand. krusei, Cand. sorbosa, Cand. diversa, Pichia terricola, Pic. membranaefaciens, Hyphopichia burtonii, Rhodotorula graminis and Aureobasidium pullulans were isolated from fresh, fermenting and fermented juice of two varieties of mango. This is the first report on the study of yeast flora of mango and also on the occurrence of Hyp. burtonii on fruits.  相似文献
