A series of metal carboxylates containing pyridine N-oxide are prepared via one pot synthesis and solid phase synthesis. The structural variations from metal to metal are observed. In the case of reactions of manganese(II) acetate with pyridine N-oxide in the presence of aromatic carboxylic acids, polymeric complexes with bridging aromatic carboxylate as well as bridging pyridine N-oxide are observed. Whereas, the reaction of copper(II) acetate with pyridine N-oxide in the presence of an aromatic carboxylic acid led to mononuclear or binuclear paddle wheel carboxylate complexes with monodentate pyridine N-oxide. Co-crystal of two neutral complexes having composition [Cu2(OBz)4(MeOH)2][Cu2(OBz)4(pyO)2] (where OBz = benzoate, pyO = pyridine N-oxide) each neutral parts have paddle wheel structure. Solid phase reaction of zinc chloride with sodium benzoate prepared in situ and pyridine N-oxide leads to a tetra-nuclear zinc complex. 相似文献

Using two species of yeast and one of bacterium, evidence has ben obtained which indicates that the microbial uptake of solid alkane powders occurs primarily through a substrate solubilization mechanism. EDTA, a strong inhibitor of hydrocarbon solubilization by the cells, inhibited the growth of these organisms on alkane powder; the inhibition could be removed vai a supply of artificially solubilized alkane. One of the yeast strians, which was a mutant incapable of growing on solid alkane powder and liquid alkane, could grow very well on artifically solubilized alkanes. It was demonstrated that the solid alkane solubilization rate during microbial growth could satisfactorily account for the maximal alkane uptake rate actully observed during growth. Liquid–liquid phase separation (LLPS) is a complex physicochemical phenomenon mediated by multivalent transient weak interactions among macromolecules like polymers, proteins, and nucleic acids. It has implications in cellular physiology and disease conditions like cancer and neurodegenerative disorders. Many proteins associated with neurodegenerative disorders like RNA binding protein FUS (FUsed in Sarcoma), alpha-synuclein (α-Syn), TAR DNA binding protein 43 (TDP-43), and tau are shown to undergo LLPS. Recently, the tau protein responsible for Alzheimer's disease (AD) and other tauopathies is shown to phase separate into condensates in vitro and in vivo. The diverse noncovalent interactions among the biomolecules dictate the complex LLPS phenomenon. There are limited chemical tools to modulate protein LLPS which has therapeutic potential for neurodegenerative disorders. We have rationally designed cyclic dipeptide (CDP)-based small-molecule modulators (SMMs) by integrating multiple chemical groups that offer diverse chemical interactions to modulate tau LLPS. Among them, compound 1c effectively inhibits and dissolves Zn-mediated tau LLPS condensates. The SMM also inhibits tau condensate-to-fibril transition (tau aggregation through LLPS). This approach of designing SMMs of LLPS establishes a novel platform that has potential implication for the development of therapeutics for neurodegenerative disorders. 相似文献

Elaeocarpus serratus L., commonly known as ‘rudraksh’ referred in the Ayurveda as a wonderful plant for strengthening body constitutions, has been recognized as a threatened plant of Assam, India. Traditionally, rudraksh beads, its bark and leaves are used to cure various ailments like stress, anxiety, depression, nerve pain, epilepsy, migraine, lack of concentration, asthma, hypertension, arthritis and liver diseases. The population stock of the species has been depleting very fast in its natural habitat due to rapid habitat fragmentation and changing climate altering the structural and functional integrity of the plant. Hence, conservation of E. serratus L. with proper scientific investigation to prevent from extinction in its wild habitat is urgently needed. The present study was emphasized with the specific objectives to study the distribution and population status, predication of suitable sites through ENM, standardization of macropropagation methods and reinforcement/reintroduction into the suitable wild habitat to improve conservation status. In the present investigation E. serratus L. was reported in few locations of Assam and Arunachal Pradesh with population sizes of mean density, frequency of occurrence and abundance in relation to other associated species as 0.333, 13.922 and 2.215 respectively. For improving the conservation status, potential area and habitat for reinforcement was predicted using Maximum Entropy (MaxEnt) distribution modelling algorithm. Subsequently, macropropagation protocol was standardized through seed germination and air-layering; saplings were raised and 1050 saplings were reintroduced to the wild habitats selected on the basis of ecological niche modelling. Survival rate was found significantly high as 68%, suggesting that our approach is effective for changing population status and to conserve the plant. 相似文献

To meet the technical challenge of recovering human IgG fusion protein from transgenic whole goat milk at reasonable cost with high purity and yield, a predictive aggregate transport model for microfiltration has been developed (Baruah and Belfort, 2003). Here, to test the model's predictability of permeate flux and mass transport, a comprehensive series of experiments with varying wall shear rate, feed temperature, feed concentration, and module design are presented. A very good fit was obtained between the model predictions and measurements for a wide variety of experimental conditions. For microfiltration module design comparison, a linear hollow fiber module (representing current commercial technologies) gave lower permeation flux and higher yield than a helical hollow fiber module (representing the latest self-cleaning methodology). These results are easily explained with the model that is now being used to define operating conditions for maximizing performance. The procedure described by the model is generalizable and can be used to obtain optimal filtration performance for applications other than milk. 相似文献
