The article is devoted to extending the applicability of the probe diagnostics to the range of higher pressures of the plasma-forming gas by taking into account the effect of the probe shadow on the anode. The probe current–voltage characteristic in the diffuse plasma of a dense gas in a strong electric field was measured, and the influence of the probe potential and probe current on the dimensions of the probe shadow on the anode was studied experimentally. The experiments were carried at different currents of a steady-state glow discharge and different velocities of the gas flow through the discharge. The plasma-forming gas was nitrogen at a pressure of P = 100 Torr.  相似文献

Results are presented from experimental studies of the glow dynamics of active nitrogen in the stage of its excitation by a current pulse and during the discharge afterglow. The mechanism is proposed for the generation of a light splash in a highly activated nitrogen after the end of its pulsed excitation. The key role in the generation of this splash is played by the D-V processes, by which the dissociation energy is transferred to the vibrational degrees of freedom in the course of recombination of nitrogen atoms, and the V-E processes, by which the vibrational energy of highly excited molecules N2(X, v ≥ 25–27) is transferred to the emitting electronic states N2(B, v) after the V-V delay. Results of simulations based on the mechanism proposed are also presented.  相似文献

Generation of high-voltage high-current electron beams in a low-pressure (P = 0.1–1 Torr) gas discharge is studied experimentally as a function of the discharge voltage and the sort and pressure of the plasma-forming gas. The density of the plasma formed by a high-current electron beam is measured. Experiments on ultrahigh charging of targets exposed to a pulsed electron beam with an energy of up to 25 keV, an electron current density of higher than 1 A/cm2, a pulse duration of up to 1 μs, and a repetition rate of up to 1 kHz are described. A numerical model of ultrahigh charging of dust grains exposed to a high-energy electron beam is developed. The formation of high-energy positive ions in the field of negatively charged plane and spherical targets is calculated. The calculations performed for a pulse-periodic mode demonstrate the possibility of achieving neutron yields of higher than 106 s–1 cm–2 in the case of a plane target and about 109 s–1 in the case of 103 spherical targets, each with a radius of 250 μm.  相似文献

The electric and spectral characteristics of a nonsteady discharge in an atmospheric air flow blown through a point-plane interelectrode gap were investigated experimentally. The discharge was produced by applying a constant positive voltage to the point electrode, the amplitude of the applied voltage being much higher than the corona ignition voltage. The nonsteady character of the discharge is due to the spontaneously repeating streamer-spark breakdown, followed by the formation of either a diffuse ultracorona or a filamentary glow discharge. In the latter case, the length of the plasma column increases progressively, being blown off by the gas flow from the discharge gap. The extinction of a filamentary discharge is unrelated to the break of the current channel: the discharge decays abruptly when the filament length reaches its critical value. The distribution of active particles (O, OH, and N*2) carried out from the discharge gap is determined from the data of spectral measurements.  相似文献

Results are presented from experimental studies of the electrophysical and spectral characteristics of the low-temperature plasma of a radio-frequency capacitive discharge excited between two flowing liquid electrodes at gas pressures of 103?105 Pa. The plasma composition, the electron density, and the vibrational and rotational temperatures of gas molecules are estimated. The types and shapes of discharge are described, and the thermal and gas-hydrodynamic processes in the discharge zone are analyzed.  相似文献

New experimental data on the laser irradiation of low-density porous materials in the Mishen facility are presented and discussed. A wide set of optical and X-ray diagnostics was used to analyze the physical processes in porous media with different microstructures and specific densities of 1–30 mg/cm3 exposed to laser pulses with λ=1.054 µm, τ=3 ns, and I=1013–1014 W/cm2. The features of laser absorption and scattering and the processes of energy transfer in porous media were investigated for different average densities, thicknesses, and microstructures of the targets and different incidence angles of the laser beam. It was found that the material microstructure (chaotic or quasi-ordered) significantly affected the formation and dynamics of a plasma produced inside the irradiated samples that model the components of the advanced targets used in inertial confinement fusion research.  相似文献

Jet structures formed during laser irradiation of porous targets with an average density of ?? = 1?30 mg/cm3 were studied experimentally by using the diagnostic complex of the Mishen facility. To study complicated plasma structures, the experimental data were processed using specially elaborated mathematical methods. The probability of the emergence of jet plasma structures in plane open-pore triacetate cellulose targets was studied as a function of the parameter ??d, where ?? is the average mass density and d is the target thickness. Analysis of the experimental results and their comparison with the existing data on the jet structures formed during laser irradiation of solid-density targets allowed the authors to reveal the characteristic features and mechanisms of the development of large-scale plasma jets.  相似文献
