Induction of Betalain Pigmentation in Hairy Roots of Red Beet under Different Radiation Sources 总被引:5,自引:0,他引:5
The effects of aluminum on lipid peroxidation and activities of antioxidative enzymes were investigated in detached rice leaves treated with 0 to 5 mM AlCl3 at pH 4.0 in the light. AlCl3 enhanced the content of malondialdehyde but not the content of H2O2. Superoxide dismutase activity was reduced by AlCl3, while catalase and glutathione reductase activities were increased. Peroxidase and ascorbate peroxidase activities were increased only after prolonged treatment, when toxicity occurred. The results give evidence that Al treatment caused oxidative stress and in turn, it caused lipid peroxidation. 相似文献

We have successfully established the co-culture of ginseng (Panax ginseng C.A. Meyer) and echinacea [Echiancea purpurea (L.) Moench.] adventitious roots for the production secondary metabolites. Adventitious roots of ginseng and echinacea were
cultured in different proportions (5 g L−1; 4:1, 3:2 and 2:1 ginseng and echinacea, respectively) in 5-L capacity airlift bioreactors containing 4 L Murashige and Skoog
medium supplemented with 25 μM indole-3-butyric acid and 50 g sucrose L−1 and maintained at 25°C in the dark for 40 days. Results showed the negative effect of echinacea adventitious roots on the
growth of ginseng roots, however, by limiting the inoculum density of echinacea, it was possible to establish the co-cultures.
To enhance the accumulation of secondary metabolites, co-cultures were treated with 200 μM methyl jasmonate after 30 days
of culture initiation. Methyl jasmonate elicitation promoted the accumulation of ginsenosides in the co-cultures. It was possible
to produce ginsenosides and caffeic acid derivatives in higher amounts by establishing co-cultures with higher inoculum proportion
of ginseng to echinacea (4:1 and 3:2) followed by elicitation treatment. This work demonstrates the effectiveness of interspecies

Capsicum annuum tobacco mosaic virus (TMV)-induced clone 1 (CaTin1) gene was expressed early during incompatible interaction of hot pepper (Caspsicum annuum) plants with TMV and Xanthomonas campestris. RNA-blot analysis showed that CaTin1 gene was expressed only in roots in untreated plants and induced mainly in leaf in response to ethylene, NaCl, and methyl viologen but not by salicylic acid and methyl jasmonate. The ethylene dependence of CaTin1 induction upon TMV inoculation was demonstrated by the decrease of CaTin1 expression in response to several inhibitors of ethylene biosynthesis or its action. Transgenic tobacco (Nicotiana tabacum) plants expressing CaTin1 gene in sense- or antisense-orientation showed interesting characteristics such as the accelerated growth and the enhanced resistance to biotic as well as abiotic stresses. Such characteristics appear to be caused by the elevated level of ethylene and H2O2. Moreover, in transgenic plants expressing antisense CaTin1 gene, the expression of some pathogenesis-related genes was enhanced constitutively, which may be mainly due to the increased ethylene level. The promoter of CaTin1 has four GCC-boxes, two AT-rich regions, and an elicitor-inducible W-box. The induction of the promoter activity by ethylene depends on GCC-boxes and by TMV on W-box. Taken together, we propose that the CaTin1 up-regulation or down-regulation interferes with the redox balance of plants leading to the altered response to ethylene and biotic as well as abiotic stresses. 相似文献

The effects of methyl jasmonate (MJ) elicitation on the cell growth and accumulation of ginsenoside in 5-l bioreactor suspension cultures of Panax ginseng were investigated. Ginsenoside accumulation was enhanced by elicitation by MJ (in the range 50–400 M); however, fresh weight, dry weight and growth ratio of the cells was strongly inhibited by increasing MJ concentration. The highest ginsenoside yield was obtained at 200 M MJ. In the second experiment, 200 M MJ was added on day 15 during the cultivation. The ginsenoside, Rb group, and Rg group ginsenoside content increased 2.9, 3.7, and 1.6 times, respectively, after 8 days of MJ treatment. Rb group gisnsenosides accumulated more than Rg group ginsenosides. Among Rb group ginsenosides, Rb1 content increased significantly by four times but the contents of Rb2, Rc and Rd increased only slightly. Among Rg group ginsenosides, Rg1 and Re showed 2.3-fold and 3.0-fold increments, respectively, whereas there was only a slight increment in Rf group ginsenosides. Background
GPi (Internal globus pallidus) DBS (deep brain stimulation) is recognized as a safe, reliable, reversible and adjustable treatment in patients with medically refractory dystonia.Objectives
This report describes the long-term clinical outcome of 36 patients implanted with GPi DBS at the Neurosurgery Department of Seoul National University Hospital.Methods
Nine patients with a known genetic cause, 12 patients with acquired dystonia, and 15 patients with isolated dystonia without a known genetic cause were included. When categorized by phenomenology, 29 patients had generalized, 5 patients had segmental, and 2 patients had multifocal dystonia. Patients were assessed preoperatively and at defined follow-up examinations postoperatively, using the Burke-Fahn-Marsden dystonia rating scale (BFMDRS) for movement and functional disability assessment. The mean follow-up duration was 47 months (range, 12–84)Results
The mean movement scores significantly decreased from 44.88 points preoperatively to 26.45 points at 60-month follow up (N = 19, P = 0.006). The mean disability score was also decreased over time, from 11.54 points preoperatively to 8.26 points at 60-month follow up, despite no statistical significance (N = 19, P = 0.073). When analyzed the movement and disability improvement rates at 12-month follow up point, no significant difference was noted according to etiology, disease duration, age at surgery, age of onset, and phenomenology. However, the patients with DYT-1 dystonia and isolated dystonia without a known genetic cause showed marked improvement.Conclusions
GPi DBS is a safe and efficient therapeutic method for treatment of dystonia patients to improve both movement and disability. However, this study has some limitations caused by the retrospective design with small sample size in a single-center. 相似文献7.

Plaminogen activator inhibitor-1 (PAI-1), the key physiological inhibitor of the plasmin fibrinolytic system, plays important roles in the pathogenesis of asthma. Mast cells (MCs) are crucial effector cells and a major source of PAI-1 for asthma. Cyclic adenosine monophosphate (cAMP) is the important regulator of MCs; however, its effects on PAI-1 expression in MCs remain unknown. We reported cAMP/protein kinase A pathway positively regulates PAI-1 expression through cAMP-response element binding protein binding to hypoxia response element-1 at −158 to −153 bp of human PAI-1 promoter in human MCs. Four mutants that show the delayed leaf senescence phenotype were isolated from Arabidopsis thaliana . Genetic analyses revealed that they are all monogenic recessive mutations and fall into three complementation groups, identifying three genetic loci controlling leaf senescence in Arabidopsis . Mutations in these loci cause delay in all senescence parameters examined, including chlorophyll content, photochemical efficiency of photosystem II, relative amount of the large subunit of Rubisco, and RNase and peroxidase activity. Delay of the senescence symptoms was observed during both age-dependent in planta senescence and dark-induced artificial senescence in all of the mutant plants. The results indicate that the three genes defined by the mutations are key genetic elements controlling functional leaf senescence and provide decisive genetic evidence that leaf senescence is a genetically programmed phenomenon controlled by several monogenic loci in Arabidopsis . The results further suggest that the three genes function at a common step of age-dependent and dark-induced senescence processes. It is further shown that one of the mutations is allelic to ein2-1 , an ethylene-insensitive mutation, confirming the role of ethylene signal transduction pathway in leaf senescence of Arabidopsis . 相似文献
