Glycerol is considered as an ideal feedstock for producing bioplastics via bacterial fermentation due to its ubiquity, low price, and high degree of reduction substrate. In this work, we study the yield and cause of limitation in poly(3‐hydroxybutyrate) (PHB) production from glycerol. Compared to glucose‐based PHB production, PHB produced by Cupriavidus necator grown on glycerol has a low productivity (0.92 g PHB/L/h) with a comparably low maximum specific growth rate of 0.11 h?1. We found that C. necator can synthesize glucose from glycerol and that the lithotrophical utilization of glycerol (non‐fermentative substrate) or gluconeogenesis is an essential metabolic pathway for biosynthesis of cellular components. Here, we show that gluconeogenesis affects the reduction of cell mass, the productivity of biopolymer product, and the molecular chain size of intracellular PHB synthesized from glycerol by C. necator. We use NMR spectroscopy to show that the isolated PHB is capped by glycerol. We then characterized the physical properties of the isolated glycerol‐based PHB with differential scanning calorimetry and tensile tests. We found that although the final molecular weight of the glycerol‐based PHB is lower than those of glucose‐based and commercial PHB, the thermal and mechanical properties of the biopolymers are similar. A new heteroleptic ruthenium complex, coded CYC‐B19 , incorporating an ancillary ligand endowed with hexylthio‐bithiophene segments and a conjugated anchoring ligand with vinyl groups was prepared. This new sensitizer exhibits a lower energy MLCT band centred at 562 nm with a remarkably high molar absorption coefficient of 2.97 × 104 M?1 cm?1. DFT‐TDDFT theoretical calculation revealed that insertion a vinyl group in the anchoring ligand pushes the LUMO electron locating more on the anchoring ligand. This will benefit the electron transfer from dye to TiO2 when the dye molecules were excited by light. Physicochemical measurements and the optimization of electrolyte were done to investigate the potential of CYC‐B19 in TiO2 scattering‐layer free dye‐sensitized solar cells. Not only is a good photovoltaic efficiency of 8.4% reached, but the transparent device sensitized by CYC‐B19 also presents a superior spectral response to its predecessor CYC‐B11 .  相似文献

Three heteroleptic ruthenium complexes incorporating new ancillary ligands synthesized by sequential connection of different alkyl functionalities with triazole as a linker are prepared using click chemistry. These sensitizers exhibit low‐energy metal‐to‐ligand charge transfer bands centered at 540 nm with molar extinction coefficients of up to 1.54 × 104 L mol?1 cm?1. The devices using these sensitizers in conjunction with a volatile electrolyte show high photovoltaic conversion efficiencies of 8.7 to 9.9% under standard AM 1.5G sunlight (100 mW cm?2) conditions. Using an ionic liquid electrolyte, the cells show not only a good power‐conversion efficiency of up to 7.1%, but also promising long‐term stability under full sunlight intensity at 60 °C. The difference in the photovoltaic parameters during the ageing process is investigated by employing transient photoelectrical measurements.  相似文献

Autoantibodies against interferon-gamma (IFN-γ) can cause immunodeficiency and are associated with various opportunistic infections. In the present study, we investigated other cellular immune parameters for a better understanding of the immunodeficiency condition in the patients. The numbers of WBC, monocytes and NK cells were increased in patients with anti-IFN-γ autoantibodies (AAbs). Upon TCR activation, T cell proliferation and IL-2 receptor of the patients remained intact. Nonetheless, the Th1 cytokine (IFN-γ and TNF-α) production was up-regulated. The production of Th2 (IL-4) and Th17 (IL-17) cytokines was unchanged. We suggest that, in addition to the presence of anti-IFN-γ autoantibodies, alterations in the cellular immune functions may also contribute to this immunodeficiency.  相似文献
