Aedes aegypti L. is the major vector of the arboviruses responsible for dengue fever, one of the most devastating human diseases. From a preliminary screening of fungal phytotoxins, cyclopaldic acid ( 1 ), seiridin ( 2 ), sphaeropsidin A ( 4 ), and papyracillic acid ( 5 ) were evaluated for their biting deterrent and larvicidal activities against Ae. aegypti L. Because compounds 1, 2, 4 , and 5 exhibited mosquito biting deterrent activities and 1 and 4 demonstrated larvicidal activities, further structure? activity relationship studies were initiated on these toxins. In biting‐deterrence bioassays, 1, 2, 4 , and 5 , 3,8‐didansylhydrazone of cyclopaldic acid, 1F , 5‐azidopentanoate of cyclopaldic acid A, 1G , the reduced derivative of cyclopaldic acid, 1 H , isoseiridin ( 3 ), 2′‐O‐acetylseiridin ( 2A ), 2′‐oxoseiridin ( 2C ), 6‐O‐acetylsphaeropsidin A ( 4A ), 8,14‐methylensphaeropsidin A methyl ester ( 4B ), and sphaeropsidin B ( 4C ) showed activities higher than the solvent control. Sphaeropsidin B ( 4C ) was the most active compound followed by 2A , while the other compounds were less active. Biting‐deterrence activity of compound 4C was statistically similar to DEET. In the larvicidal screening bioassays, only compounds 1 and 4 demonstrated larvicidal activities. Based on LD50 values, compound 4 (LD50 36.8 ppm) was significantly more active than compound 1 (LD50 58.2 ppm). However, the activity of these compounds was significantly lower than permethrin.  相似文献

In this study, the effects of carbendazim on the thymus in male rats were evaluated. Carbendazim was administered at 0, 150, 300 and 600 mg kg(-1) day(-1) doses by gavage to male rats for 15 weeks. Body weights of rats in all groups were recorded weekly during treatment. At the end of the experiment, the effects of carbendazim on the thymus were investigated histopathologically and morphologically. Also, based on these effects, change in immunolocalization of fibronectin (FN), which is a component of the extracellular matrix, was investigated immunohistochemically. Fibrosis and oedema were observed in the thymus of rats treated with 300 and 600 mg kg(-1) day(-1) doses of carbendazim. Also in this region, an increase in FN density was noted at the end of the immunohistochemical investigation. A decrease was observed in absolute and relative thymus weights of rats treated with carbendazim compared with the control group. While the decrease in absolute thymus weight was statistically significant in rats exposed to carbendazim at the highest dose, the decrease in relative thymus weights was statistically significant for all carbendazim doses.  相似文献

Trifluoromethylphenyl amides (TFMPAs) were designed and synthesized as potential pesticides. Thirty‐three structures were evaluated for fungicidal activity against three Colletotrichum species using direct bioautography assays. Active compounds were subsequently tested against C. fragariae, C. gloeosporioides, C. acutatum, Phomopsis obscurans, P. viticola, Botrytis cinerea and Fusarium oxysporum. The study identified 2‐chloro‐N‐[2,6‐dichloro‐4‐(trifluoromethyl)phenyl]acetamide ( 7a ) as showing the strongest antifungal activity, and the broadest activity spectrum in this set against Colletotrichum acutatum (at 48 and 72 h) and Phomopsis viticola (at 144 h). The presence of triethylamine in its complex with N‐[2,6‐dichloro‐4‐(trifluoromethyl)phenyl]‐2,2,3,3,3‐pentafluoropropanamide ( 7b′ ) played an important role in the bioactivity, and depending on the concentration or fungal species it showed higher or lower activity than the parent amide. X‐Ray crystallography has shown that the complex ( 7b′ ) is an ion pair, (C10H2Cl2F8NO)? (C6H16N)+, where a proton is transferred from the amide nitrogen to the triethylamine nitrogen and then connected by hydrogen bonding to the acyl oxygen (N?H 0.893 Å; H???O 1.850 Å; N???O 2.711 Å; N?H???O 161.2(13)°). Although none of these compounds were better than standards, this work revealed some potential lead structures for further development of active novel compounds.  相似文献

We studied the sex ratio of a population of Anatolian ground squirrels,Spermophilus xanthoprymnus (Bennett, 1835), living in a steppe area about 50 km south of Ankara, Central Anatolia, Turkey in 1999–2001. The sex ratio among juveniles and yearlings did not differ from 1∶1, but the sex ratio among adults (≥ 2 years old) was biased toward females. We concluded that from their second summer of life as yearlings onwards, males experienced higher mortality than did females. Such higher mortality is common in ground squirrels, and is likely due to the risks encountered when males disperse from their natal areas.  相似文献

BackgroundOxidative stress status in different cancer types was investigated before, but not studied in gastric intestinal metaplasia to the best of our knowledge. Purpose of this study is to examine whether there is a difference between oxidative stress status in patients with intestinal metaplasia (IM) compared to individuals without IM, we compared the serum levels of disulfide (SS), total thiol (TT) and native thiol (NT).MethodsThis was a prospective, non-randomized casecontrol study including 67 patients with histopathologically confirmed IM and 60 individuals demographically matched in terms of age, gender, BMI, smoking status, and chronic diseases as control group.ResultsThe mean NT, TT and NT to TT (NT/TT) ratios were statistically significantly higher in IM group compared to controls ((351.71 ± 81.9 mol/L vs. 271.82 ± 54.13 mol/L, p=0.000), (391.5 ± 92.69 mol/L vs. 308.59 ± 55.53 mol/L, p=0.000) and (0.89 ± 0.6 vs. 0.87 ± 0.29, p=0.022), respectively). The mean SS to TT (SS/TT) ratio was significantly lower in IM group than control group (0.050 ± 0.31 vs. 0.060 ± 0.014, P=0.022). Median SS and mean SS/NT ratio was similar in both groups (16.3 (3.3-78) vs. 18.3 (10-32.7), p=0.271 and 0.055 ± 0.041 vs. 0.070 ± 0.019, p=0.068, respectively). In ROC analysis, cut off value of SS/NT for IM was found 0.062, in regression analysis, SS/NT <0.062 was found as an independently prognostic marker for IM (OR, 2.38; 95%CI: 1.168-4.865, P=0.017).ConclusionsSS/NT ratio lower than 0.062 was found as an independently prognostic marker for IM. This ratio could help to distinguish which patients should be followed closely for gastric cancer.  相似文献

The chemical composition of the essential oils obtained from stems and leaves, fruits and roots of Scaligeria tripartita oil was analyzed by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry. A total of 38 compounds were identified ranging 89-94% of the oil samples. Geijerene was found as a main compound in the oils of the stems and leaves (37%) and fruits (55%), whereas epoxypseudoisoeugenol angelate (37%) was found as a main compound in the root oil. Oils were subsequently evaluated for their antimalarial, antimicrobial against human pathogenic bacteria or fungi and antifungal activities against plant pathogens. Antifungal activity of Scaligeria oils was observed against the strawberry anthracnose-causing fungal plant pathogens Colletotrichum acutatum, C. fragariae and C. gloeosporioides using the direct overlay bioautography assay. Chemotaxonomically important pure compounds indicated in the bioautography assay were subsequently evaluated in a 96-well microdilution broth assay. The performance of overpressured layer chromatography (OPLC) and TLC for the analysis of Scaligeria essential oils was also compared.  相似文献

A preparative overpressure layer chromatography (OPLC) method was successfully used for the separation of two new natural compounds, 4‐hydroxy‐5,6‐dimethoxynaphthalene‐2‐carbaldehyde ( 1 ) and 12,13‐didehydro‐20,29‐dihydrobetulin ( 2 ) together with nine known compounds, including 7‐methyljuglone ( 3 ), diospyrin ( 4 ), isodiospyrin ( 5 ), shinanolone ( 6 ), lupeol ( 7 ), betulin ( 8 ), betulinic acid ( 9 ), betulinaldehyde ( 10 ), and ursolic acid ( 11 ) from the acetone extract of the roots of Diospyros virginiana. Their identification was accomplished by 1D‐ and 2D‐NMR spectroscopy and HR‐ESI‐MS methods. All the isolated compounds were evaluated for their antifungal activities against Colletotrichum fragariae, C. gloeosporioides, C. acutatum, Botrytis cinerea, Fusarium oxysporum, Phomopsis obscurans, and P. viticola using in vitro micro‐dilution broth assay. The results indicated that compounds 3 and 5 showed high antifungal activity against P. obscurans at 30 μM with 97.0 and 81.4% growth inhibition, and moderate activity against P. viticola (54.3 and 36.6%). It appears that an optimized OPLC system offers a rapid and efficient method of exploiting bioactive natural products.  相似文献

Ten populations of the green toad, Bufo viridis, from three areas having different climatic regimes were compared. Multivariate analyses of morphological characteristics revealed three distinct populations of green toads: the first group inhabiting the lowland and humid localities was characterized by a small body size, the second group occurred at higher altitudes and in desert areas had a significantly larger body size, while the third group from the Mediterranean localities was characterized by a large tympanum, a longer tarsus and short first toes. Interestingly, the specimens from Giresun Island were clustered with the second group with a similar pattern of body size. Differences in the morphological characteristics among populations were positively associated with ecological conditions, and not with geographic distance. Some characteristics previously used for taxonomic purposes in B. viridis were shown to be associated with local climatic conditions.  相似文献
