A slow abnormal haemoglobin was found in a 27 year-old Negro man who had polycythaemia vera. Chemical and structural analysis showed it to be Hb C. The oxygen affinity showed a normal P50 value. Clinical and haematological investigations are described and discussed.  相似文献

An encapsulation system comprising of a UV‐curable epoxy, a solution processed polymer interlayer, and a glass cover‐slip, is used to increase the stability of methylammonium lead triiodide (CH3NH3PbI3) perovskite planar inverted architecture photovoltaic (PV) devices. It is found this encapsulation system acts as an efficient barrier to extrinsic degradation processes (ingress of moisture and oxygen), and that the polymer acts as a barrier that protects the PV device from the epoxy before it is fully cured. This results in devices that maintain 80% of their initial power conversion efficiency after 1000 h of AM1.5 irradiation. Such devices are used as a benchmark and are compared with devices having initially enhanced efficiency as a result of a solvent annealing process. It is found that such solvent‐annealed devices undergo enhanced burn‐in and have a reduced long‐term efficiency, a result demonstrating that initially enhanced device efficiency does not necessarily result in long‐term stability.  相似文献

Neural encoding of sensory signals involves both linear and nonlinear processes. Determining which nonlinear operations are implemented by neural systems is crucial to understanding sensory processing. Here, we ask if demodulation, the process used to decode AM radio signals, describes how Y cells in the cat LGN nonlinearly encode the visual scene. In response to visual AM signals across?a wide range of carrier frequencies, Y cells were found to transmit a demodulated signal, with the firing rate of single-units fluctuating at the envelope frequency but not the carrier frequency. A comparison of temporal frequency tuning properties between LGN Y cells and neurons in two primary cortical areas suggests that Y cells initiate a distinct pathway that carries a demodulated representation of the visual scene to cortex. The nonlinear signal processing carried out by the Y cell pathway simplifies the neural representation of complex visual features and allows high spatiotemporal frequencies to drive cortical responses.  相似文献

Imaging of 300-500 μm mouse brain slices by laser photostimulation with flavoprotein autofluorescence (LFPA) allows the rapid and sensitive mapping of neuronal connectivity. It is accomplished using UV laser-based photo-uncaging of glutamate and imaging neuronal activation by capturing changes in green light (~520 nm) emitted under blue light (~460 nm) excitation. This fluorescence is generated by the oxidized form of flavoprotein and is a measure of metabolic activity. LPFA offers several advantages over imaging techniques that rely on dye loading. First, as flavoprotein imaging measures endogenous signals, it avoids the use of heterogeneously loaded and potentially cytotoxic dyes. Second, flavoprotein signals are large (1-20% above baseline), obviating the need for averaging. Third, the use of photostimulation ensures orthodromic neuronal activation and permits the rapid interrogation of multiple stimulation sites of the slice with a high degree of precision (~50 μm). Here we describe a step-by-step protocol for the incorporation of LPFA into virtually any slice rig, as well as how to do the experiment.  相似文献
