Magnetic field influence on unsteady free convection flow of a second grade fluid near an infinite vertical flat plate with ramped wall temperature embedded in a porous medium is studied. It has been observed that magnitude of velocity as well as skin friction in case of ramped temperature is quite less than the isothermal temperature. Some special cases namely: (i) second grade fluid in the absence of magnetic field and porous medium and (ii) Newtonian fluid in the presence of magnetic field and porous medium, performing the same motion are obtained. Summary Agglutination of washed rabbit erythrocytes caused by pancreatic acinar cell extract was inhibited by glucose, maltose and cellobiose. Process of elimination and purification divulged that the acinar cell enzyme -amylase was responsible for attributing the agglutinin activity. Assay of enzyme and agglutinin activity data of different fractions of re-purified -amylase eluted from HPLC column showed that both the activity resides in the same fraction which suggests that the enzyme binds to the glucosyl residues of the rabbit erythrocytes via the carbohydrate binding/catalytic sites. The effect of intraperitoneal injection of imipramine hydrochloride on the activity of gamma-aminobutyric acid transaminase was determined in three regions of the rat brain.The cerebral hemispheres did not show a significant change in the activity of gamma-aminobutyric acid transaminase. Cerebellum and brain stem, both, however, showed a very significant decrease in the activity of the enzyme at 15 and 30 minutes after drug administration. At 90 minutes after drug administration, the activity of gamma-aminobutyric acid transaminase had returned to nearly control values. 相似文献

The effect of Mn2+ on the pattern of emergence of enzymes in rat liver and adipose tissue was studied in weaned rats given a milk diet (high fat) or sucrose-casein diet (high carbohydrate) for three weeks. Addition of Mn2+ to the high fat diet was associated with induction of key glycolytic, lipogenic and pentose pathway enzymes in both liver and adipose tissue; parallel increases were found in the incorporation of [1-14C] glucose into lipid and CO2. Mn2+ induced a change in the profile of enzyme activity similar in pattern to that found in rats given a high sucrose diet or that produced by insulin treatment. Mn2+ appears partially to overcome the regulatory feed-back mechanisms of the high fat diet and to provide a signal for the coordinated increase of glucose catabolic and lipogenic processes. 相似文献

Turbot, Scophthalmus maximus, is a commercially important demersal flatfish species distributed throughout the Black Sea. Several studies performed locally with a limited number of specimens using both mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) and microsatellite markers evidenced notable genetic variation among populations. However, comprehensive population genetic studies are required to help management of the species in the Black Sea. In the present study eight microsatellite loci were used to resolve the population structure of 414 turbot samples collected from 12 sites across the Black Sea. Moreover, two mtDNA genes, COI and Cyt-b, were used for taxonomic identification. Microsatellite markers of Smax-04 and B12-I GT14 were excluded from analysis due to scoring issues. Data analysis was performed with the remaining six loci. Loci were highly polymorphic (average of 17.8 alleles per locus), indicating high genetic variability. Locus 3/20CA17, with high null allele frequency (>30%), significantly deviated from HW equilibrium. Pairwise comparison of the FST index showed significant differences between most of the surveyed sampling sites (P < 0.01). Cluster analysis evidenced the presence of three genetic groups among sampling sites. Significant genetic differentiation between Northern (Sea of Azov and Crimea) and Southern (Turkish Black Sea Coast) Black Sea sampling sites were detected. The Mantel test supported an isolation by distance model of population structure. These findings are vital for long-term sustainable management of the species and development of conservation programs. As computational capabilities increase, molecular dynamics (MD) simulations become important tools of simulating reality. These simulations are especially useful for compressible gas mixture problems. In this study, binary diffusion of helium and argon was examined using a hard-sphere MD simulation method. For the sake of computational speed, low spacing ratios were chosen. Binary mass diffusion of gases in two equally sized halves of a box was simulated for identical initial kinetic energies and number densities. It has been noted that a purely mass diffusion mechanism of different gases is not physically possible. The resultant gas mixtures of several diffusion simulations were used as initial conditions for combined heat transfer – Couette flow, and heating and cooling experiments. The results showed the interesting behaviour of the mixture, which was subjected to various wall conditions. Energy of heavier molecules is found to be more sensitive to the wall velocities and less sensitive to the wall temperatures than lighter molecules. Diffusion, heat transfer, viscosity and heat capacity coefficients are deduced as well. 相似文献

Abstract Neurokinin B (NKB), a decapeptide of mammalian origin exhibits a variety of biological activities such as regulatory functions in reproduction, pre-eclampsia and neuroprotection in Alzheimer's disease. In order to gain insight into structure-function relationship, three- dimensional structure of NKB has been investigated using CD spectropolarimetry and two-dimensional proton nuclear magnetic resonance (2D 1H-NMR) spectroscopy in aqueous and membrane mimetic solvents. Unambiguous NMR assignments of resonances have been made with the aid of correlation spectroscopy (DQF-COSY and TOCSY) experiments and Nuclear Overhauser Effect Spectroscopy (NOESY) experiments. Distance constraints obtained from the NMR data have been used to generate a family of structures, which have been refined using restrained energy minimization and dynamics. Our data show that a helical structure is induced in NKB, in presence of perdeuterated dodecyl phosphocholine (DPC) micelles, a membrane model system. Further, the conformation adopted by NKB in presence of DPC micelles represents a structural motif typical of neurokinin-3 selective agonists. 相似文献

ABSTRACTMembers of the casein kinase 1 (CK1) family are key regulators in numerous cellular signal transduction pathways and in order to prevent the development of certain diseases, CK1 kinase activity needs to be tightly regulated. Modulation of kinase activity by site-specific phosphorylation within the C-terminal regulatory domain of CK1δ has already been shown for several cellular kinases. By using biochemical methods, we now identified residues T161, T174, T176, and S181 within the kinase domain of CK1δ as target sites for checkpoint kinase 1 (Chk1). At least residues T176 and S181 show full conservation among CK1δ orthologues from different eukaryotic species. Enzyme kinetic analysis furthermore led to the hypothesis that site-specific phosphorylation within the kinase domain finally contributes to fine-tuning of CK1δ kinase activity. These data provide a basis for the extension of our knowledge about the role of site-specific phosphorylation for regulation of CK1δ and associated signal transduction pathways. 相似文献
