<i>Aspergillus tubingensis</i> Causes Leaf Spot of Cotton (<i>Gossypium hirsutum</i> L.) in Pakistan

Cotton (Gossypium hirsutum L.) is a key fiber crop of great commercial
importance. Numerous phytopathogens decimate crop production by causing
various diseases. During July-August 2018, leaf spot symptoms were recurrently
observed on cotton leaves in Rahim Yar Khan, Pakistan and adjacent areas. Infected
leaf samples were collected and plated on potato dextrose agar (PDA) media.
Causal agent of cotton leaf spot was isolated, characterized and identified as
Aspergillus tubingensis based on morphological and microscopic observations.
Conclusive identification of pathogen was done on the comparative molecular
analysis of CaM and β-tubulin gene sequences. BLAST analysis of both sequenced
genes showed 99% similarity with A. tubingensis. Koch’s postulates were followed
to confirm the pathogenicity of the isolated fungus. Healthy plants were inoculated
with fungus and similar disease symptoms were observed. Fungus was re-isolated
and identified to be identical to the inoculated fungus. To our knowledge, this is the
first report describing the involvement of A. tubingensis in causing leaf spot disease
of cotton in Pakistan and around the world. 相似文献

Isolated anonychia without any associated phenotypical disturbances is one of the rarest anomalies of congenital nail disorders. Some or all fingers of the hands or feet could be affected. Anonychia can be encountered in dermatologic disorders like pemphigus, lichen planus, epidermolysis bullosa; it can also be seen as a component of some syndromes like Nail-Patella and Cooks syndromes. We present a sister couple in whom all fingernails and toenails were lacking without any additional physical sign. A fragile chromosomal site was also encountered in peripheral chromosome analysis in the long arm of the chromosome 10 in both of the cases. 相似文献

Familial Mediterranean Fever (FMF) is an autosomal recessive autoinflammatory disorder with the responsible gene of MEFV which
primarily affects Jewish, Armenian, Turkish and Arab populations. The FMF gene (MEFV) has recently been cloned to chromosome
16p, which encodes pyrin. In the present study, we enrolled 2,067 unrelated patients with the suspicion of FMF in Middle Anatolia
between the years 2006–2009 and identified the 12 MEFV mutations. DNA was amplified by PCR and subjected to reverse hybridization
for the detection of MEFV gene mutations. Among the 2,067 patients, 866 (41.9%) were males and 1,201 (58.1%) were females.
The mutations were homozygous in 176 (16.85%) patients, compound heterozygous in 314 (30.1%) patients, heterozygous in 546
(52.25%) patients and the other forms of mutations were found in 8 patients (0.76%). No mutation was detected in 1,023 (49.5%)
patients. The most frequent mutations were M694V, M680I (G/C), E148Q and V726A. We could not find any significant differences
between the two common mutations according to the gender. The high incidence of MEFV gene mutations in the Turkish population
indicated that newborn screening may be discussed in the future. Because of the ethnic origin of Anatolia, larger serial analyses
are necessary to investigate the rate and coexistence of these mutations. 相似文献

Abstract: The enzyme diamine oxidase (DAO) catalyzes the oxidative deamination of histamine, diamines, and polyamines. DAO has been localized to several tissues, including thymus, kidney, intestine, seminal vesicles, placenta, and pregnancy plasma. DAO is not constitutively expressed in the mammalian brain, but it becomes detectable following focal injury. Although the physiologic role of DAO remains unknown, the observation that it is present at the interface between rapidly dividing and quiescent cells in several tissues suggests that it might be involved in regulating cell division or differentiation at tissue boundaries. In addition, the observation that DAO is expressed in the brain following injury suggests that the protein might play a role in the CNS response to focal neuronal damage. To test that hypothesis, we assessed the ability of purified DAO to alter the pattern of neuronal differentiation and nerve growth in vitro. In chick dorsal root ganglion explant cultures, purified porcine DAO induced neurite outgrowth in the low nanomolar range. Addition of aminoguanidine, which inhibits DAO enzyme activity, did not inhibit the protein's neurotrophic activity. These findings suggest that DAO can function as a neurotrophic ligand independent of its enzymatic activity. 相似文献
