The co-composting of exhausted olive-cake with poultry manure and sesame shells was investigated. These organic solid wastes were watered by the confectionary wastewater which is characterized by its high content of residual sugars raising its COD. Four aerated windrows were performed to establish the effects of confectionary by-products on the compost process. Different mixtures of the agro-industrial wastes were used. During the composting process, physico-chemical parameters (temperature, moisture, pH, electrical conductivity, total carbon and total nitrogen) were studied. The stability of the biological system was noticed after 70 days. The final products were characterized by their relatively high organic matter content, and low C/N ratio of 14-17. The humidification of the windrows with the wastewater seemed to have accelerated the composting process in comparison to a windrow humidified with water. In addition, the organic matter degradation was enhanced to reach 55-70%. The application of the obtained composts to soil appeared to significantly improve the soil fertility. Indeed, field experiments showed an increase in potato yield; the production was 30.5-37.5 tons ha(-1), compared to 30.5 tons ha(-1) with farm manure.  相似文献

In this study, two olive mill wastes - exhausted olive cake (EOC) and paste of olive mill wastewater naturally dehydrated (POMW) - were co-composted and mixed with 25% sesame bark (SB). The humification process was evidenced by quantifying the humic substances and the generally accepted humification indices: (i) the ratio of humic acid (HA) carbon to fulvic acid (FA) carbon (CHA/CFA), (ii) the ratio of water soluble organic carbon (CW) to total organic nitrogen (Cw/Norg), (iii) and the ratio of humic acid carbon to total organic carbon CHA/Corg and by determining the absorbance ratios: E2/E4, E2/E6 and E4/E6. The results showed that the time required to reach maturity was dependant on the chemical properties of the initial raw materials used. The compost including EOC had more nitrogen and synthesised more polymerised HA, the POMW compost also had acceptable degrees of stability and maturity at the end of the process. Maturation was confirmed by a decline in Cw below 1.7, an increase in nitrogen, in HA, in CHA/CFA and an elimination of phytotoxicity. Composts produced with olive mill wastes, experimented on potato culture in the field, can be considered beneficial to soils because of their humification indexes and no toxicity.  相似文献

Summary Enterobacteria growing on wastewater from olive oil extraction were selected. Among this microflora, strains of Klebsiella oxytoca and Citrobacter diversus able to degrade simple monomeric aromatic compounds were isolated by enrichment culture of the effluent lacking simple sugars. In this preliminary investigation, the phenolic acids tested on solid and liquid media were gentisic, protocatechuic, p-hydroxybenzoic, benzoic, vanillic and ferulic. It was shown that the biodegradation of an aromatic acid is tightly dependent on both the type and the position of the radical substituted on the aromatic ring. Citrobacter was the most efficient strain in metabolizing ferulic acid in liquid medium at a concentration of 1.5 g/l. The substrate biodegradation yield achieved exceeded 86%.  相似文献

Growth and spirolide production of the toxic dinoflagellate Alexandrium ostenfeldii (Danish strain CCMP1773) were studied in batch culture and a photobioreactor (continuous cultures). First, batch cultures were grown in 450 mL flasks without aeration and under varying conditions of temperature (16 and 22 °C) and culture medium (L1, f/2 and L1 with addition of soil extract). Second, cultures were grown at 16 °C in 8 L aerated flat-bottomed vessels using L1 with soil extract as culture medium. Finally, continuous cultures in a photobioreactor were conducted at 18 °C in L1 with soil extract; pH was maintained at 8.5 and continuous stirring was applied. This study showed that A. ostenfeldii growth was significantly affected by temperature. At the end of the exponential phase, maximum cell concentration and cell diameter were significantly higher at 16 °C than at 22 °C. In batch culture, maximum spirolide quota per cell (approx. 5 pg SPX 13-desMeC eq cell−1) was detected during lag phase for all conditions used. Spirolide quota per cell was negatively and significantly correlated to cell concentration according to the following equation: y = 4013.9x−0.858. Temperature and culture medium affected the spirolide profile which was characterized by the dominance of 13,19-didesMeC (29–46%), followed by SPX-D (21–28%), 13-desMeC (21–23%), and 13-desMeD (17–21%).Stable growth of A. ostenfeldii was maintained in a photobioreactor over two months, with maximum cell concentration of 7 × 104 cells mL−1. As in batch culture, maximum spirolide cell quota was found in lag phase and then decreased significantly throughout the exponential phase. Spirolide cell quota was negatively and significantly correlated to cell concentration according to the equation: y = 12,858x−0.8986. In photobioreactor, spirolide profile was characterized by higher proportion of 13,19-didesMeC (60–87%) and lower proportions of SPX-D (3–12%) and 13-desMeD (1.6–10%) as compared to batch culture.  相似文献

This paper aims to assess the marine sediment quality along the Tunisian coast using clam Ruditapes decussatus embryos and larval bioassays tests. Elutriate samples prepared with sediment from four sites (Monastir Lagoon, Chebba, Mahres, and Zarat) were used for chemical analysis and clam bioassays tests (embryogenesis, larval growth. and metamorphosis). For embryogenesis test, five elutriates concentrations (12%, 25%, 50%, 75%, and 100%) were prepared. Metal concentrations were highest at the Mahres and Monastir Lagoon sites. Clam embryogenesis success was significantly (p < 0.05) reduced in all elutriates preparations at concentrations up to 50% except Chebba, where inhibition was evident at only the highest concentration (100%). Compared to the control (9.4 μm day?1), larval growth rate was significantly (p < 0.05) reduced only in two sites, Monastir Lagoon (6.8 μm day?1) and Zarat (5.6 μm day?1). However, larval survival was lower (42.9%) in elutriates prepared from Mahres sediment compared to other studied sites and control treatment. We did not note any significant (p > 0.05) effect of elutriate preparations on clam metamorphosis; conversely, survival in this stage was significantly affected in three sites (Monastir: 59.0 ± 6.7%; Zarat: 52.1 ± 6.3%, and Mahres: 64.1 ± 5.4%) compared to the control (83.2 ± 4.7%). This work shows that both clam embryos and larvae are sensitive to contaminants and can be used to evaluate sediment contamination and monitor pollution.  相似文献
