Nonspecific adhesiveness of lymphocytes to polyacrylonitrile fiber and the antigen-specific adhesiveness of T-lymphocytes to Shigella flexneri pellicular immunosorbent have been studied in dysentery patients. Short courses of treatment with indomethacin, but not with thymalin (the preparation of thymic hormones), used for immunomodulation, have accelerated the normalization of nonspecific lymphocyte adhesiveness during regression of the disease, while indomethacin, in contrast to thymalin, inhibits antigen-specific T-lymphocyte adhesiveness which increases with the development of immune response. 相似文献

The purpose of the study was to analyse the effect of arm-shoulder fatigue on manual performance. Ten experienced carpenters performed three standardized tasks (nailing, sawing and screwing). Electromyographic activity was recorded from six arm-shoulder muscles and the performances were video-filmed. After 45 min of standardized arm-cranking (arm-shoulder-fatiguing exercise of approximately 70%-80% maximal oxygen consumption), the tasks were repeated. The number of work movements and the time taken for each task were recorded and the quality of the work performed was compared. After the fatiguing exercise, only nailing was perceived as being harder and more mistakes were made during nailing and sawing. Movement performance was not influenced during nailing but was slightly slower during sawing and faster during screwing. However, there were increased mean EMG amplitudes in the upper trapezius and biceps muscles during nailing, in the upper trapezius, anterior deltoid and infraspinatus muscles during sawing and in the anterior deltoid muscle during screwing. K99 Fimbriae from enterotoxigenicEscherichia coli (ETEC) were found to bind specifically to sialic acid, as measured in a haemagglutination inhibition assay using the intact bacteria and human erythrocytes. The affinity forN-glycolylneuraminic acid was about twice that ofN-acetylneuraminic acid (NeuAc), and other monosaccharides were found to be at least ten-fold less effective as inhibitors. The specificity was found to depend on electrostatic interaction where the carboxyl group and its orientation plays an important role. 2--Benzyl-NeuAc was a better inhibitor than 2--methyl-NeuAc suggesting a hydrophobic patch near the binding site on the protein. Axially oriented hydroxyl groups as in 4-epi-NeuAc and 3-hydroxy-NeuAc seemed to participate in binding since these derivatives were better inhibitors thanN-acetylneuraminic acid. K99 was found to have a higher affinity for 4-O-acetyl-NeuAc and lower affinity forN-acetylneuraminic acid withO-substituents at C7-C9 as compared toN-acetylneuraminic acid. Hence, the degree ofO-acetylation of sialic acid in the mucosa of the small intestine may influence colonization and determine susceptibility to infection. 相似文献
