Diagnosis of encephalitozoonosis: a simple method for collection of rabbit blood

The blood was collected on filter paper, dried, put into an envelope and posted to the laboratory. One drop of blood extracted with 1 ml PBS was satisfactory for detecting natural cases of encephalitozoonosis by the india-ink immunoreaction.     

Amniotic and Allantoic Fluid Levels of Oestrogens at Different Stages of Development in the Goat

During our studies on certain aspects of reproduction in the goat (Lyngset 1971) we collected several samples of foetal fluid which were stored in the frozen state for further investigation. We have now processed this material with respect to contents of oestrogens.     

Teratogenic Effects of the Organophosphorus Compound Fenchlorphos in Rabbits

Fenchlorphos was administered orally in doses of 0, 12.5, 25 and 50 mg per kg to pregnant rabbits from day 6 to 18 of gestation. No effect on implantation efficacy, number of live fetuses, or fetal weight was observed. The incidence of major malformations such as cardiovascular and brain anomalies was, however, increased in the medicated groups. Major skeletal malformations were more frequent in the medicated groups; minor skeletal variation were about equal in all groups. Dose-relationship was observed for cardiovascular malformations and cerebellar hypoplasia.     

Urinary Oestrogen Excretion in the Goat During the Oestrous Cycle and after Administration of Pregnant Mare Serum Gonadotrophin (PMSG)

Two goats were placed in cages constructed for urine collection. Samples were taken daily and stored in the frozen state until analysis. The urine was processed according to a method designed for determination of oestrone and oestradiol-17 α in bovine urine (Lunaas unpublished).
