The surface of the tegument of the scolex and the immature proglottides of Monticellia belavistensis, M. ventrei, Nomimoscolex chubbi, and N. lopesi is described using scanning electron microscopy. Only blade-like spiniform microtriches and filiform microtriches were observed in the species studied. The types, size and density of microtriches on the apical region surface of the scolex, central cavity surface of suckers, marginal ring surface of suckers, non-adherent surface of suckers, proliferation zone surface, and immature proglottis surface were compared among these species. The distribution pattern of the microtriches was not a reliable feature to discriminate among the genera considered in this study. It varied in each of the species of Monticellia examined, and did not permit to split the heterogeneous genus Nomimoscolex. However, the microthrix pattern can be regarded as an additional diagnostic feature to distinguish among species of proteocephalideans. Further comparative research involving other species of proteocephalid taxa is needed to elucidate the systematic value of the tegumental morphology.  相似文献

We have compared the species richness of medicinal plants and the differential patterns of use amongst settlements in the Andean communities of Northwest Argentina which have differing levels of isolation. About 259 ethnoespecies, belonging to 74 plant families, were included, representing between 70 and 80% of the total estimate. The results indicate that Coronopus didymus is the most relevant and important species. The method of use of medicinal plants and the ailments treated by rural doctors compared to those of the layperson is different. Native and exotic plants are used differently according to the body system treated. There are some relationships between internal and external use and body systems and recipes. The greater medicinal species richness found in the less isolated locations is due to external enriching cultural influences.  相似文献

During the Audouin's Gull's breeding season at the Ebro Delta in 1993, 24 fresh eggs from eight three-egg clutches (modal clutch-size) were collected at the peak of the laying period. Eggs were processed to obtain formalin-fixed yolks, which were halved and stained using the potassium dichromate method. Digitized images of the yolks were examined to assess the daily rates of yolk deposition. We used these data in combination with egg compositional analysis to build a model of energy demands during the formation of an average clutch in Audouin's Gull. To show how the different parameters of clutch formation affect the daily energy investment peak, we performed a simulation analysis in which the rapid yolk development (RYD) period, the follicle triggering interval (FTI), the laying interval (LI) and the albumen synthesis period (ASP) were allowed to vary simultaneously. In our sample, the mean RYD period was seven days with a range from six to eight days. There were no significant differences in yolk volume among eggs in a clutch, but albumen volume was significantly smaller in third eggs. According to our model the albumen synthesis of the a-egg coincides with the energy demand peak for clutch formation. This peak represents an increase by ca. 42% in female energy requirements. Values obtained from the simulation analysis showed that only the ASP of the a-egg and the RYD durations of the second and third follicles produced noticeable reductions in peak energy investment. We predict that in gulls, whose laying intervals seem to be kept constant, significant increases of the durations of the RYD periods of second and third eggs, or even significant reductions of yolk size of these eggs, may operate simultaneously to match the energy demands during clutch formation to the prevailing food conditions.  相似文献

Following the programme started at Janssen Research Foundation searching for 5-HT(2A/2C) antagonists, we now report on the synthesis of a series of substituted 2-(Dimethylaminomethyl)-2,3,3a,8-tetrahydrodibenzo[c,f]isoxazolo[2,3-a]azepine derivatives. We previously demonstrated that a critical 35 bp region 3' of the AAUAAA is required for rabbit beta-globin mRNA 3' end formation. Recently, we synthesized and tested sequence elements derived from this region. Here, we report that a GU-rich and a U-rich sequence element are both required for efficient rabbit beta-globin mRNA 3' end formation. The efficiency of processing is restored to the wild-type level when the two elements are placed together and is greatly diminished when only one element is present. The level of 3' end formation is also decreased when the distance between the two elements is expanded. These results demonstrate that the GU-rich and U-rich elements function synergistically to restore efficient mRNA 3' end formation and that they most likely form a single requisite sequence 3' of the AAUAAA. Furthermore, we show that the effect of the GU-rich and U-rich sequence elements is position-dependent.  相似文献

Cells from the slime variant of Neurospora crassa were broken in isotonic conditions by use of triethanolamine buffer plus EDTA. After removal of large membranous structures by low-speed centrifugation, chitosomes and secretory vesicles were separated by means of gel filtration, precipitation of membranous contaminants with Concanavalin A, and centrifugation in sucrose or glycerol gradients. Polypeptidic composition of fractions enriched in secretory vesicles or chitosomes was found to be distinct. By these criteria we concluded that chitosomes and secretory vesicles represent different populations of microvesicles. Saccharomyces cerevisiae was cultivated in a controlled aerated, dual-stage (column), continuous flow bioreactor in a hybrid free-cell and immobilized-cell state. The yeast cells maintained an ethanol concentration of 58-64 and 91-98 g/L in stages I and II, respectively. The lipid composition of the cells cultivated under these conditions was correlated to the effects of aeration by interrupting the aeration on days 113 and 266 of continuous operation. Under conditions of aeration or nonaeration, an alternating increase and decrease in the contents of squalene, sterols, and fatty acids of the respiratory-competent and -deficient unattached free cells was observed. The cellular free lipid compositions of the immobilized cells in the aerated and nonaerated conditions were similar and characteristic of respiratory-deficient cells with the exception of the immobilized cells exposed to a higher ethanol concentration (stage II). These cells contained a broader range of sterol components and increased levels of unsaturated fatty acids than immobilized cells at a lower ethanol concentration (stage I). The neutral lipid to phospholipid ratio decreased for respiratory-deficient cells with phosphatidylethanolamine and phosphatidylinositol being the principal phospholipids. The data demonstrated the essentiality of the hybrid bioreactor design for continuous long term performance and the importance of maintaining specific yeast lipid constituents for continuous high alcohol productivity.  相似文献

We localized collagen types III, IV, and VI in normal rat lung by light and electron immunohistochemistry. Type IV collagen was present in every basement membrane examined and was absent from all other structures. Although types III and VI had a similar distribution, being present in the interstitium of major airways, blood vessels, and alveolar septa, as in other organs, they had different morphologies. Type III collagen formed beaded fibers, 15-20 nm in diameter, whereas type VI collagen formed fine filaments, 5-10 nm in diameter. Both collagen types were found exclusively in the interstitium, often associated with thick (30-35 nm) cross-banded type I collagen fibers. Occasionally, type III fibers and type VI filaments could be found bridging from the interstitium to the adventitial aspect of some basement membranes. Furthermore, the association of collagen type VI with types I and III and basement membranes suggests that type VI may contribute to integration of the various components of the pulmonary extracellular matrix into a functional unit.  相似文献
