Dynamics of the X-sex chromatin in the buccal epithelial cells of pregnant women with rhesus-negative blood

The content of X-sex chromatin was studied in the buccal epithelial cells of pregnant women with Rh-negative blood. It was found that in women with a titer of Rh antibodies the amount of cells with X-sex chromatin decreases. A clinical-cytological correlation in the mother-placenta-fetus system was traced in pregnant women with a Rh antibody titer.     

Analysis of the species composition of the genus <Emphasis Type="Italic">Chrysopilus</Emphasis> (Diptera,Rhagionidae) in the Eastern Palaearctic Region

The species of the genus Chrysopilus, inhabiting Russia and adjacent territories, are analyzed for the first time. The structure of the genitalia is examined, and new diagnostic characters of the species are given. Some species from the boundary areas are considered in detail, since the species composition of the genus has been poorly studied there. The data on 11 species distributed in eastern Russia and Japan are given.     

A comparative characterization of immature stages of the species of the Phaonia palpata group (Muscidae, Diptera)

The morphology of immature stages of the xylobiont Phaonia palpata Stein, Ph. tiefii Schn., and Ph. ishizuchiensis Shin. et Kano was studied. Differences in the structure of the cephalopharyngeal organ of the larvae and of the ultimate puparial segment were found. Keys to the species considered are given.     

On the ecology of Phaonia larvae (Diptera, Muscidae)

The composition and ecological associations of predaceous larvae of more than 20 species of the genus Phaonia Rob.-Desv. from xylobiont communities were studied. The groups of phloeobionts and xylobionts are distinguished, and their associations with the principal wood destroying insects are discussed. Data on autecology of 22 species are presented.     

Morpho-ecological characteristics of the xylobiont larvae of the genus Phaonia Robineau-Desvoidy, 1830 (Diptera, Muscidae) with a description of the larva of Ph. canescens Stein, 1916

The first data on the biology and morphology of the larva and puparium of Phaonia canescens Stein, with additional data on Ph. exoleta (Meig.) and Ph. cincta (Zett.), are given. Keys to the larvae and puparia of the three species studied are compiled.     

On insect feeding on cyanobacteria

A review of 19 dipteran species of the families Chironomidae, Ceratopogonidae, and Ephydridae, feeding on cyanobacteria, which are toxic to the majority of other animals, is given. Certain aspects of biology and evolution of the family Ephydridae, allowing them to utilize this food source, are discussed.     

The first record of the shore fly Paracoenia fumosalis (Diptera, Ephydridae) in the Palaearctic region

Paracoenia fumosalis Cresson previously known only from the USA and Canada is recorded in the Palaearctic Region for the first time. The adults were collected near a thermal hydrosulfuric spring in the Geiser Valley in Kamchatka. A key to species of the genus Paracoenia occurring in Russia is given.
