The in vitro activity of several new imidazoles, cloconazole, sulconazole, butoconazole, isoconazole and fenticonazole, were compared with those of amphothericin B, flucytosine, and three azoles: econazole, miconazole and ketoconazole against isolates of pathogenic Candida. A total of 186 clinical isolates of 10 species of the genus Candida and two culture collection strains were tested by an agar-dilution technique. Isoconazole was the most active azole, followed by butoconazole and sulconazole. Differences between some of the species in their susceptibility to the antifungal agents were noted. Sulconazole and cloconazole had the highest activity in vitro against 106 isolates of C. albicans. Butoconazole and isoconazole were also very active against isolates of C. albicans, and were the most active azole compounds against 80 isolates of Candida spp. 相似文献

A novel experimental method was developed which allows the determination of the threshold concentration of sucrose by use of a linear sucrose gradient in water. With this method a continuous tasting of the test-liquid is possible. A panel of 15 persons experienced in taste-testing was used. Three gradients of different steepness were applied: 0 to 1.5% (w/w) sucrose in 2 min (I), 3 min (II) and 4 min (III). The results of the new method were compared with those of the standard method (DIN). With gradients I and II we found values which were significantly higher than those of the standard method (I: 0.49% (w/w); II: 0.46% (w/w); DIN: 0.31% (w/w)), whereas with gradient III the same threshold value was found as with the DIN-Method (III: 0.32% (w/w)). 相似文献

A total of 1,153 red foxes, Vulpes vulpes, was examined for strobilae of Echinococcus multilocularis from 2 geographic regions in North Dakota during 1965 through 1972. Echinococcus multilocularis was found in 184 (16%) of these foxes. The data including date and location of collection, age and sex of the host, and presence or absence of the cestode were used to assess the relative influence of collection interval (sampling period), climatic season, geographic location, and age and sex of the host on the prevalence of the adult cestode. The rate of infection varied significantly with collection interval, which was probably attributable to annual changes in the overall environment. Seasonally, the highest prevalences were observed during summer (32.4%) followed by spring (25.3%), autumn (13.7%) and winter (6.4%). Differences in prevalence between adult and juvenile foxes and that between male and female foxes were not significant. A 3-factor analysis of variance showed the order of importance of the significant variables to be collection interval, season, and the interaction of collection interval and season. A 4-factor ANOVA, which in addition to the above variables included geographic location, showed that the collection interval-location interaction had significant effects on prevalence. The specific activity of NAD+ kinase (ATP:NAD+ 2-phosphotransferase, EC 2.7.1.23) from Neurospora crassa shows sharp peaks when the organism enters a new developmental stage of the asexual life cycle: the peaks are observed during hydration and germination of conidia, at the transition from exponential to stationary growth and at the photostimulated conidiation. As stimulation of NAD+ kinase activity by light in conidiating mycelium is not sensitive to translation inhibitors, the activiation of pre-existing molecules, rather than induction of protein synthesis de novo may be supposed. Enzyme electrophoresis revealed the presence of four forms of NAD+ kinase having different apparent molecular weights (I=333,000; II=306,000; III=229,000 and IV=203,000). Manifestation of the activity of individual forms of NAD+ kinase is developmentally controlled: form III is most abundant during vegetative growth, forms I and II prevail in conidia. At the conidial germination the increase of NAD+ kinase activity is associated with the activation of form III, whereas during photostimulation of conidiation form II is the most activated one. Therefore, certain molecular forms of the enzyme may be regarded as biochemical markers for different developmental stages of N. crassa. 相似文献
