Female CBA mice were injected with s.c. synthetic tetrapeptide Epithalon from a 6-month age until death. The drug failed to affect the body weight or food consumption, physical activity or behavioural parameters. However, it slowed down the age-related switching off of the estrus function, decreased body temperature, decelerated free redical processes, prolonged the mice life span with an accompanying drop in spontaneous tumour incidence.  相似文献

OBJECTIVES and design. We have studied the effect of synthetic peptide Epitalon on the activity of ribosomal genes, denaturation parameters of total heterochromatin, polymorphism of structural C-heterochromatin and the variability of facultative heterochromatin in cultured lymphocytes of persons aged 76-80 years. RESULTS: The obtained data demonstrate that Epitalon induces the activation of ribosomal genes, decondensation of pericentromeric structural heterochromatin and the release of genes repressed due to the age-related condensation of euchromatic chromosome regions. CONCLUSIONS: Epitalon has shown its ability to activate chromatin by modifying heterochromatin and heterochromatinized chromosome regions in the cells of older persons.  相似文献

A single injection of C3HA mice with various immunomodulators-ds-RNA, thymogene (TM) and cyclophosphamide (CY)--performed one day before transplantation of syngeneic hepatoma 22a cells led to a decrease in the tumor growth rate. The most prominent effect was found following the CY treatment. The NK cell activity estimated per spleen of mice treated with ds-RNA and TM was seen increased in comparison with the control mice not given the modulators. The rate of tumor growth was due probably to this fact. The protective effect of CY may be accounted for by a direct action of this agent on tumor cells.  相似文献

The review analyzes the morphology, molecular and functional aspects of pineal gland (PG) aging and methods of its correction. The PG is the central organ that regulates the activity of the neuroimmunoendocrine, antioxidant and other systems of the body. Functional activity of the PG is decreased with aging, causing a decrease in the melatonin level. Molecular and morphological studies have demonstrated that the PG displays no pronounced atrophy with aging. Long-term experience has shown that epithalamine, a peptide extraction of PG, as well as epithalon, a synthetic tetrapeptide made on its basis, restore melatonin secretion in the PG and have a regulatory effect on the neuroimmunoendocrine and antioxidant systems of the body.  相似文献
