Summary A simple on-line computer control strategy based on dissolved oxygen level readings has been developed to control methanol addition during a fermentation of the methylotroph Pseudomonas AM1. Commemorating the 2021 ASEAN Dengue Day and advocacy for World Dengue Day, the International Society for Neglected Tropical Diseases (ISNTD) and Asian Dengue Voice and Action (ADVA) Group jointly hosted the ISNTD-ADVA World Dengue Day Forum–Cross Sector Synergies in June 2021. The forum aimed to achieve international and multisectoral coordination to consolidate global dengue control and prevention efforts, share best practices and resources, and improve global preparedness. The forum featured experts around the world who shared their insight, research experience, and strategies to tackle the growing threat of dengue. Over 2,000 healthcare care professionals, researchers, epidemiologists, and policy makers from 59 countries attended the forum, highlighting the urgency for integrated, multisectoral collaboration between health, environment, education, and policy to continue the march against dengue. Sustained vector control, environmental management, surveillance improved case management, continuous vaccine advocacy and research, capacity building, political commitment, and community engagement are crucial components of dengue control. A coordinated strategy based on science, transparency, timely and credible communication, and understanding of human behavior is needed to overcome vaccine hesitancy, a major health risk further magnified by the COVID-19 pandemic. The forum announced a strong call to action to establish World Dengue Day to improve global awareness, share best practices, and prioritize preparedness in the fight against dengue.  相似文献

A major challenge in neuroscience is linking behavior to the collective activity of neural assemblies. Understanding of input-output relationships of neurons and circuits requires methods with the spatial selectivity and temporal resolution appropriate for mechanistic analysis of neural ensembles in the behaving animal, i.e. recording of representatively large samples of isolated single neurons. Ensemble monitoring of neuronal activity has progressed remarkably in the past decade in both small and large-brained animals, including human subjects. Multiple-site recording with silicon-based devices are particularly effective because of their scalability, small volume and geometric design. Here, we describe methods for recording multiple single neurons and local field potential in behaving rodents, using commercially available micro-machined silicon probes with custom-made accessory components. There are two basic options for interfacing silicon probes to preamplifiers: printed circuit boards and flexible cables. Probe supplying companies (http://www.neuronexustech.com/; http://www.sbmicrosystems.com/; http://www.acreo.se/) usually provide the bonding service and deliver probes bonded to printed circuit boards or flexible cables. Here, we describe the implantation of a 4-shank, 32-site probe attached to flexible polyimide cable, and mounted on a movable microdrive. Each step of the probe preparation, microdrive construction and surgery is illustrated so that the end user can easily replicate the process.  相似文献

Metastatic carcinoma to the vulva is rare, where the incidence is believed to be between 5% and 8%.However, malignant tumors have been described in 3–11% of systemic scleroderma (SSc) cases.We report the case of one patient, a 66-year-old postmenopausal woman, whose medical history was marked with rheumatic vascular disease (systemic scleroderma) since 1993 without muscular, renal, cardiac lesions or HTA (arterial hypertension) and without tobacco history.The woman presented with a new vulvar mass of the right labia in December 2011 that had progressively enlarged in size.CT scan of the abdominopelvic region demonstrated a lobular mass of the right labia with central necrosis, 7 cm on the wide axis, and the rectum and the vaginal wall were normal. No inguinal or iliac lymphadenopathy was noted.An outpatient excisional biopsy revealed a poorly differentiated malignant tumor suggestive of carcinoma.IHC: CK7+/CK20−, estrogen receptors−, AE 1 AE 3+, vimentine+, S100−, Desmina−, CD34−, KI 67: 20%.The thoracic scan revealed a large mass of 4 cm × 3 cm in the right lung base with right paratracheal lymphadenopathy 3 cm × 2 cm.A bronchoscopy revealed discrete stenosis of the mediastinal portion of the right bronchial tree.The bronchial biopsy also revealed poorly differentiated lung carcinoma, non-small cell, which was identical with the vulvar tumor.

Conclusion

The presence of the single lung lesion with only one lymphadenopathy paratracheal with pathological and immunohistochemical (IHC) profile similar to the vulvar lesion, and a particular IHC profile with CK7+ and CK20− was detected – that is more specific to the primitive pulmonary cancer, and the presence of only one sarcoma marker vementine+, desmine and actine−. Also the presence of KI 67: 20%, predicted the proliferative and great metastatic power of the lung tumor was observed.Additionally, lung cancer was the most frequent type and may develop in scleroderma as reported in most studies.This allows to conclude for primitive lung carcinoma revealed with vulvar metastasis after elimination of the possibility of vulvar sarcoma.The patient was treated by chemotherapy (Taxol/Platin) with partial response from the lung after 3 cycles and palliative radiotherapy in the vulva with a good response.This case described primary lung carcinoma associated with scleroderma, revealed by a vulvar metastasis, which may be related to the aggressiveness of lung cancer when the lung fibrosis follow-up is not performed well to detect early the development of lung tumors in the patient with systemic scleroderma.  相似文献

After determination of sorption isotherms of grape seeds using gravimetric method, five models with temperature effect were used to fit water sorption isotherms of grape seeds to investigate temperature effect on sorption isotherms and its thermodynamic characteristics. Halsey model had minimum mean relative percentage error (M e ) and all other models used were good in fitting experimental data (with M e of less than 10 %). Differential parameters such as net isosteric heat, isosteric heat, differential entropy and integral function such as equilibrium heat, net equilibrium heat, integral entropy and surface potential have been calculated. The net isosteric heat, isosteric heat and differential entropy decreased with moisture content. The net equilibrium enthalpy, equilibrium enthalpy and integral entropy decreased with moisture content. The surface potential at four temperatures (35, 45, 55 and 65 °C) was estimated, and low temperature effect was reported.  相似文献
