Amblyceps crassioris, a new species of amblycipitid catfish, is described from the Mahanadi River basin in Odisha, India. The new species can be distinguished from its congeners in having a combination of the following characters: a deeply forked caudal fin, centrally projecting hooks on proximal lepidotrichia of median caudal-fin rays absent, jaws equal in length, lateral line absent, body depth at anus 15.1%–19.5% standard length (SL), caudal peduncle depth 13.0%–18.3% SL, adipose-fin base length 21.1%–27.1% SL, eye diameter 7.35%–14.1% head length and 38 total vertebrae.  相似文献

Length-weight relationships (LWRs) were estimated for seven fish species captured as bycatch along the Chennai coast, Bay of Bengal, Eastern Indian Ocean. Fish samples were collected fortnightly between June-2018 to February-2019 from the commercial boats operating bottom trawl nets with a cod-end mesh size of 35mm. The total length (L) and the wet weight (W) to the nearest 0.1 cm and 0.01 g, respectively which is followed by regression analysis. The values of exponent (b) for LWRs varied from 2.5803 (Parachaeturichthys polynema) to 3.4432 (Ostorhinchus oxina). Similarly, a value varied between 0.0037 (Bleekeria kallolepis) and 0.0258 (Archamia bleekeri). As per FishBase, a new TLmax has been recorded for four species such as Ostorhinchus oxina, Jaydia striata, Bleekeria kallolepis and Cocotropus roseus.  相似文献

Length–weight relationships (LWRs) of six finfish species under two families of the order Perciformes collected from Pulicat lagoon (India) are presented in this study. The fish specimens were collected weekly from the catches of shore seine net (with a mesh size of 50mm at the main webbing and 10 mm at the cod end) operated in the lagoon at an average depth of 2.5 m by the local fishermen during the period from July 2018 to April 2019. This study reports the LWRs for five gobiid and one siganid fish species which have no earlier reports on LWRs. The calculated ‘b’ value ranged from 3.538 (Favonigobius reichei) to 2.677 (Oxyurichthys microlepis) and ‘a’ value varied from 0.0041 (Favonigobius reichei) to 0.0199 (Acentrogobius cyanomos). This study also reports the new maximum total length (TLmax) for the gobiid fish species Oxyurichthys microlepis.  相似文献
