An annotated checklist of Senegalia Raf. and Vachellia Wight & Arn. taxa for the Indian subcontinent is presented, following the fragmentation and retypification of the former broadly defined genus Acacia Mill. The countries encompassed by this study include Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka. All indigenous species (and a few introductions) in this region previously referred to Acacia belong to Senegalia and Vachellia. All Acacia s.s. taxa are introduced (principally from Australia) and are not included in the study. There are 22 species of Senegalia (21 indigenous, 1 introduced; representing 23 taxa) and 21 species of Vachellia (12 indigenous, 9 introduced; representing 27 taxa) currently recognized for the subcontinent. The largest country, India, has most species. This checklist complements that which was recently provided for these genera in southeast Asia and China. Two names formerly recorded for the Indian subcontinent are excluded, namely, Senegalia intsia (L.) Maslin is a nomen confusum and Acacia pennata subsp. hainanensis (Hayata) I. C. Nielsen is now known to be restricted to southern China and Vietnam. Acacia eriantha Desv. is an unresolved name. The following new combinations are made herein: Senegalia tanjorensis (Ragup., Thoth. & A.Mahad.) A.S.Deshpande & Maslin, Vachellia campbellii (Arn.) A.S.Deshp., & Maslin and V. pseudowightii (Thoth.) A.S.Deshpande & Maslin. A lectotype has been selected for Acacia pennata var. canescens Graham ex Kurz (= Senegalia pennata (L.) Maslin). 相似文献

The B cell Ag receptor (BCR) can distinguish subtle differences in Ag structure and trigger differential responses. In this study, we analyzed the effects of Ag valency on the signaling and Ag-targeting functions of the BCR. Although both paucivalent and polyvalent Ags induced the redistribution of the surface BCR into polarized caps, polyvalent Ag-induced BCR caps persisted. Ganglioside G(M1), a lipid raft marker, and tyrosine-phosphorylated proteins, but not CD45 and transferrin receptor, were concentrated in BCR caps, suggesting BCR caps as surface-signaling microdomains. Prolonged BCR caps were concomitant with an increase in the level and duration of protein tyrosine phosphorylation and a reduction in BCR internalization and movement to late endosomes/lysosomes. Thus, Ag valency influences B cell responses by modulating the stability of BCR-signaling microdomains and BCR trafficking. 相似文献

Synthesis of a series of novel tetrahydroquinoline annulated heterocycles has been accomplished by intramolecular imino and bisimino Diels–Alder reaction. These compounds were evaluated for their antibacterial activity. All the synthetic compounds, exhibited good antibacterial activity against microorganisms of which one of them 7 was found to be as active as the antibiotic ciplofloxacin and is found to have MIC value of 2.5 mg/mL against Escherichia coli. 相似文献

Autism is a developmental disability causing learning and memory disorder. The heart of the search for a cure for this syndrome is the need to understand dendrite branch patterning, a process crucial for proper synaptic transmission. Due to the association of snapin with the SNARE complex and its role in synaptic transmission it is reported as a potential drug target for autism therapies. We wish to impart the noesis of the 3D structure of the snapin protein, and in this chase we predict the native structure from its sequence of amino acid residues using the classical Comparative protein structure modeling methods. The predicted protein model can be of great assistance in understanding the structural insights, which is necessary to understand the protein function. Understanding the interactions between snapin and SNARE complex is crucial in studying its role in the neurotransmitter release process. We also presented a computational model that shows the interaction between the snapin and SNAP-25 protein, a part of the larger SNARE complex. 相似文献

The study comprised of 60 Candida spp., 50 isolates from HIV and TB positive individuals (immunocompromised) and 10 isolates from non-HIV and -TB patients
(immunocompetent). Among the 60 Candidal isolates, 83.3% were identified as C. albicans, 11.6% as C. glabrata and rest 5% as C. krusei. There is no study in production pattern of extracellular enzymes of Candida spp. isolated from HIV and TB patients in comparison with non-HIV and -TB patients in India. The comparison of phospholipase
activities showed that there was a significant difference between the groups at (P = 0.001). The non-HIV and -TB groups of C. glabrata and C. krusei did not show detectable phospholipase activity when compared to the HIV and TB groups. The mean difference in the phospholipase
activities of these two groups was significant (P = <0.001). Candida spp. of both the groups do not possess the ability to hydrolyze gelatin. All the strains possessed the ability to show alpha
haemolysis. Even though it had shown alpha haemolysis, the significant difference in haemolytic activity was observed only
in C. albicans (P = <0.001). None of the isolates from the two groups possessed the ability to hydrolyze gelatin. In the resistance profile
of Candida spp., C. albicans of HIV and TB groups had shown resistance to fluconazole, Itraconazole, ketaconazole, nystatin but showed 100% sensitivity
towards amphotericin-B. The isolates of C. krusei and C. glabrata showed no resistance to any of the drugs tested. In the case of, non-HIV and -TB patients the resistance pattern was low. 相似文献

A simple mathematical model depicting blood flow in the capillary is developed with an emphasis on the permeability property
of the blood vessel based on Starling's hypothesis. In this study the effect of inertia has been neglected in comparison with
the viscosity on the basis of the smallness of the Reynolds number of the flow in the capillary. The capillary blood vessel
is approximated by a circular cylindrical tube with a permeable wall. The blood is represented by a couple stress fluid. With
such an ideal model the velocity and pressure fields are determined. It is shown that an increase in the couple stress parameter
increases the resistance to the flow and thereby decreases the volume rate flow. A comparison of the results with those of
the Newtonian case has also been made. 相似文献

The present study was carried out to establish the antinociceptive, anti-inflammatory, and antipyretic properties of the aqueous extract of Melastoma malabathricum leaves in experimental animals. The antinociceptive activity was measured using abdominal constriction, hot-plate, and formalin tests, whereas the anti-inflammatory and antipyretic activities were measured using carrageenan-induced paw edema and brewer's yeast-induced pyrexia tests, respectively. The extract, which was obtained after soaking the air-dried leaves in distilled water for 72 h and then preparing in concentrations of 10%, 50%, and 100% (v/v), was administered subcutaneously 30 min prior to subjection to the above mentioned assays. At all concentrations tested, the extract was found to exhibit significant (P < 0.05) antinociceptive, anti-inflammatory, and antipyretic activities in a concentration-independent manner. Our findings that the aqueous extract of M. malabathricum possesses antinociceptive, anti-inflammatory, and antipyretic activities supports previous claims on its traditional uses to treat various ailments. 相似文献

Evolutionary relationships among eight species of Ursidae (including the giant panda) relative to two Procyonidae species (raccoon and red panda) were estimated based on the extent of electrophoretic variation of 289 radiolabelled fibroblast proteins resolved by two-dimensional gel electrophoresis and among 44 isozyme loci resolved by one-dimensional electrophoresis. Allelic differences among these species were converted to genetic distances, and phenetic trees were constructed. In addition, the electrophoretic data were coded as unit characters, and minimum-length trees were derived based on the Wagner method using maximum parsimony. Regardless of the tree-building method employed, the data sets agreed on the following branching sequence: between 22.4 and 32.3 million years (MY) ago, the ancestors of the procyonids and the ursids split into two lineages. Within 10 MY, the red panda split from the line that led to the raccoon. An ancestor of the giant panda split from the ursid line 18–22 MY ago, and the South American spectacled bear split from the line leading to ursine bears 10.5–15.0 MY B.P. A group of six closely related ursine bears (brown bear, polar bear, Asiatic black bear, Malayan sun bear, American black bear, and sloth bear) diverged from a common ancestor during the past 4–8 MY. Much of this ursine radiation was not resolved by our results, with the exception of a recent (2–3 MY B.P.) divergence of brown bear and polar bear. The topological concordance of the data sets from one- and two-dimensional electrophoresis supports the usefulness of these procedures for evolutionary inference and provides additional precision to the reconstruction of divergence nodes of this carnivore group. 相似文献

Vanilla planifolia is a tropical orchid mainly known for the aromatic flavor of its cured pods. Callus cultures were initiated from leaf and
nodal explants of V. planifolia. Leaf explants showed better callus initiation than the nodal explants with callus biomass production maximal when cultured
on Murashige and Skoog (MS) basal medium containing 4.52 mM 2,4-dichlorophenoxy acetic acid and 2.22 mM benzyladenine (BAP).
Callus transferred to MS basal medium supplemented with 13.32 μM BAP, and 13.43 μM naphthaleneacetic acid (NAA) showed superior
growth response and produced 14.0 ± 1.0 shoots with an average length of 3.6 ± 0.1 cm after 40 d. Subsequent transfer of the
proliferated shootlets to MS basal medium supplemented with 8.88 μM BAP and 8.08 μM NAA produced 12.3 ± 0.14 plantlets with
an average height of 3.6 cm ± 0.10 cm. All plantlets produced profuse rooting within 35–40 d after transfer to half-strength
MS basal medium supplemented with NAA in combination with indole-3-acetic acid. Rooted plantlets were transferred for hardening,
with 80% of the plantlets becoming successfully established in the field. Potentially, more than 100,000 plantlets could be
produced within eight subcultures from callus obtained from leaf explant through the methods described here. 相似文献
