In the present study we have evaluated the antigenotoxic effects of Farnesol (FL) a 15-carbon isoprenoid alcohol against benzo (a) pyrene [B(a)P] (125 mg kg? 1.b.wt oral) induced toxicity. B(a)P administration lead to significant induction in Cytochrome P450 (CYP) content and aryl hydrocarbon hydrolase (AHH) activity (p < 0.001), DNA strand breaks and DNA adducts (p < 0.001) formation. FL was shown to suppress the activities of both CYP and AHH (p < 0.005) in modulator groups. FL pretreatment significantly (p < 0.001) restored depleted levels of reduced glutathione (GSH), quinone reductase (QR) and glutathione –S-transferase (GST). A simultaneous significant and at both the doses reduction was seen in DNA strand breaks and in in-vivo DNA adducts formation (p < 0.005), which gives some insight on restoration of DNA integrity. The results support the protective nature of FL. Hence present data supports FL as a future drug to preclude B (a) P induced toxicity. 相似文献

Summary Dantrolene-Na is a muscular relaxant which binds to sarcoplasmic reticulum (SR) with high affinity and decreases the availability of Ca2+ channels. The binding of fluorescent compounds, dantrolene-Na, nifedipine and chlortetracycline to the ciliary membrane ofParamecium aurelia has been studied. Dantrolene at the concentrations of 1.9 · 10–5, 3.8 · 10–5 and 7.9 · 10–5 M manifested a punctuated binding pattern to the cell membrane. Isolated cilia also bound dantrolene at their basal portion, whereas deciliated cell bodies lost their dotted binding pattern. Chlortetracycline showed a similar but weaker fluorescent staining. Nifedipine treated cells revealed no sign of fluorescent binding to the membrane and was only taken up in food vacuoles.Based on these observations we propose that dantrolene binding regular arrays ofParamecium cell membrane could be identical to granular plaques observed by electron microscope. The possible functioning of these structures as Ca2+ reservoirs is also discussed. 相似文献

Ensuring food security for the rapidly increasing population and changing climatic scenarios are requisites for
exploiting the genetic divergence of food crops. A study was undertaken to sort out an early maturing chickpea
variety for fitting easily between rice-rice cropping systems in the Eastern Indo-Gangetic Plain of Bangladesh. The
trial was comprised of eight elite lines of chickpea and executed at various localities in Bangladesh from 2014–
15 to 2017–18. The result explored the chickpea genotype, BARI Chola-11 remained superior to the rest of
the elite genotypes for having a short maturity period (100–106 days), and lesser days to 50% flowering (47–
55 days). The same genotype was recorded to have robust vegetative and reproductive yield attributes including
plant height (49–57 cm), podsplant−1 (37–50), and optimum 100 seed weight (19.5–20.6 g). Owing to better yield
attributes, BARI Chola-11 resulted in the maximum seed yield (1200–1500 kg ha−1
) of chickpea and might be
recommended for general adoption in the region for boosting nutritional security status through improved productivity under changing climate. 相似文献

After determination of sorption isotherms of grape seeds using gravimetric method, five models with temperature effect were used to fit water sorption isotherms of grape seeds to investigate temperature effect on sorption isotherms and its thermodynamic characteristics. Halsey model had minimum mean relative percentage error (M e ) and all other models used were good in fitting experimental data (with M e of less than 10 %). Differential parameters such as net isosteric heat, isosteric heat, differential entropy and integral function such as equilibrium heat, net equilibrium heat, integral entropy and surface potential have been calculated. The net isosteric heat, isosteric heat and differential entropy decreased with moisture content. The net equilibrium enthalpy, equilibrium enthalpy and integral entropy decreased with moisture content. The incidence of peanut allergy continues to rise in the United States and Europe. Whereas exposure to the major allergens Ara h 1, 2, 3, and 6 can cause fatal anaphylaxis, exposure to the minor allergens usually does not. Ara h 8 is a minor allergen. Importantly, it is the minor food allergens that are thought to be responsible for oral allergy syndrome (OAS), in which sensitization to airborne allergens causes a Type 2 allergic reaction to ingested foods. Furthermore, it is believed that similar protein structure rather than a similar linear sequence is the cause of OAS. Bet v 1 from birch pollen is a common sensitizing agent, and OAS results when patients consume certain fruits, vegetables, tree nuts, and peanuts. Here, we report the three-dimensional structure of Ara h 8, a Bet v 1 homolog. The overall fold is very similar to that of Bet v 1, Api g 1 (celery), Gly m 4 (soy), and Pru av 1 (cherry). We used data on feeding practices and domestic animal health gathered from 207 Bangladeshi villages to identify any association between grazing dropped fruit found on the ground or owners directly feeding bat- or bird-bitten fruit and animal health. We compared mortality and morbidity in domestic animals using a mixed effects model controlling for village clustering, herd size, and proxy measures of household wealth. Thirty percent of household heads reported that their animals grazed on dropped fruit and 20% reported that they actively fed bitten fruit to their domestic herds. Household heads allowing their cattle to graze on dropped fruit were more likely to report an illness within their herd (adjusted prevalence ratio 1.17, 95% CI 1.02–1.31). Household heads directly feeding goats bitten fruit were more likely to report illness (adjusted prevalence ratio 1.35, 95% CI 1.16–1.57) and deaths (adjusted prevalence ratio 1.64, 95% CI 1.13–2.4). Reporting of illnesses and deaths among goats rose as the frequency of feeding bitten fruit increased. One possible explanation for this finding is the transmission of bat pathogens to domestic animals via bitten fruit consumption. 相似文献
