Two series of cationic porphyrins meso-(3N-methylpyridinium)phenylporphyrin (3P1, 3P2c, 3P2t, 3P3 and 3P4) and meso-(4N-methylpyridinium)phenylporphyrin (4P1, 4P2c, 4P2t, 4P3 and 4P4) were studied to obtain a comprehensive understanding of factors
that influence the binding of cationic porphyrins to liposomes and mitochondria, as well as their photodynamic efficiencies
in erythrocytes. Binding and photodynamic efficiency were found to be inversely proportional to the number of positively charged
groups and directly proportional to n-octanol/water partition coefficients (log POW), except for the cis molecules 3P2c and 4P2c. In the cis molecules, binding and photodynamic efficiency were much higher than expected, indicating that specific interactions not
accounted by log POW enhance photodynamic efficiency. The effect of mitochondrial transmembrane electrochemical potentials on cationic porphyrin
binding constants was estimated to be as large as 15%, and may be useful to selectively target this organelle when promoting
photodynamic therapy to induce apoptosis. 相似文献

In the current study, two new coccidian species (Protozoa: Apicomplexa: Eimeriidae) obtained from short-crested flycatcher
Myiarchus ferox (Gmelin) are reported from Brazil. Isospora feroxis n. sp. has o?cysts which are spheroidal to sub-spheroidal, 18.7 × 18.0 μm, with a smooth and bi-layered wall, c. 1.2 μm. The micropyle and o?cyst residuum are absent, but two polar granules are present. Its sporocysts are broadly ellipsoidal
and 11.7 × 8.5 μm. Stieda and substieda bodies are present. A sporocyst residuum is present and the sporozoites have a refractile
body and nucleus. O?cysts of Eimeria sicki n. sp. are spheroidal to sub-spheroidal, 30.3 × 28.5 μm, with a smooth and bi-layered wall, c. 1.3 μm. The micropyle, o?cyst residuum and polar granule are absent. Its sporocysts are ellipsoidal, 18.4 × 10.0 μm. Stieda
and substieda bodies are present. A sporocyst residuum is present and sporozoites have a refractile body and nucleus. 相似文献

The spectroscopic and electrochemical properties of two isomeric forms of the supramolecular species [μ-(H2TPyP){Ru(bpy)2Cl}4]4+ (H2TPyP = 5,10,15,20-tetra(3- or 4-pyridyl)porphyrin, bpy = 2,2′-bipyridine) have been compared and consistently interpreted with the aid of molecular orbital calculations. In these complexes, the HOMO and LUMO levels are predominantly localized in the ruthenium complexes and porphyrin ring, respectively. There is an extensive mixing of the wave functions of both components in other MOs, however, and their contributions are reflected in the spectroelectrochemical and spectroscopic behavior. For example, the electronic mixing is enough to allow the energy-transfer from the peripheral complexes to the porphyrin ring, as well as the appearance of a RuII(dπ) → H4P(pπ*) charge-transfer band at 700 nm in the bis-protonated [μ-(H4TPyP){Ru(bpy)2Cl}4]4+ species, showing the strong stabilization of the porphyrin LUMO levels. 相似文献

In the present study the tick prevalence, mean intensity of infestation and species were recorded on birds captured between January 2009 and December 2010 in the Ecological Station Pirapitinga-ESEC from Minas Gerais State, Brazil. A total of 967 birds, from 15 families and 40 species were captured and 165 (17.1 %) individuals were parasitized by ticks. Of these 160 (97 %) belonged to the order Passeriformes. Five tick species were identified: Amblyomma longirostre (n = 274) was the most common species followed by Amblyomma parvum (n = 43), Amblyomma nodosum (n = 39), Amblyomma ovale (n = 24) and Riphicephalus sanguineus (n = 7). None of 61 unengorged larvae molted to nymph. The mean intensity of infestation was 2.7 ± 2.4 ticks per bird (448 ticks/165 birds) ranging from 1 to 10. Only 19 (11.4 %) birds were infested with one species of tick. The remaining birds were infested by two, three or four species of ticks. Also new hosts for all five ticks were recorded. Only nymphs were recorded throughout the year with two similar peaks during autumn and winter 2009 and 2010. 相似文献

Amazona aestiva Linnaeus, 1758 is known as the blue-fronted parrot. These animals are considered seed dispersion, contributing to ecological balance. Despite its ecological importance, A. aestiva is listed as an imminent danger of becoming extinct, as it is one of the most illegally traded native species in Brazil, besides losing its habitat due to deforestation and forest fires. The cranial oesophagus mucosa is lined with a non-keratinized stratified squamous epithelium, and the basal layer presents melanocyte accumulation. No mucous glands were observed in the lamina propria/submucosa. The ingluvium two different muscular layer patterns were observed, one internal and circular and one very thick, external and longitudinal. The proventriculum submucosa consists of polygonal proventricular glands and contents into a broad central duct lined with simple columnar epithelium Periodic acid-reactive Schiff positive (PAS+) and Alcian blue positive (AB+). The 5-HT cells are dispersed in the proventricular glands located at base and apex. The ventricle mucous layer contains numerous branched folds lined by a simple columnar epithelium. The epithelium was negative reaction for PAS and positive for AB only on the fold surfaces. The 5-HT cells were scarce and observed only at the base of the ventricular gland, as well as in the adjacent connective tissue. 相似文献

Isospora canaria Box, 1975 (Protozoa, Apicomplexa, Eimeriidae) is reported and described from canaries Serinus canaria (Linnaeus) in southeast Brazil. Its oöcysts are subspheroidal to ellipsoidal, 24.4 × 22.2 μm, with smooth, bilayered wall, ~1.2 μm. The micropyle and the oöcyst residuum are absent, but a polar granule is present. The sporocysts are lemon-shaped, 17.6 × 10.6 μm. The Stieda body is nipple-like, and substieda body is prominent and homogeneous. The sporocyst residuum is composed of scattered granules. The sporozoite has anterior and posterior refractile bodies and a nucleus. The report of this coccidium recovered from exotic canaries in South America is relevant to native passerines, mainly to Carduelis yarrellii, which are listed as vulnerable species by IUCN (International Union for Conservation of Nature and Natural Resources). 相似文献
