This report describes an unusual morphology of annulate lamellae (AL) in the hepatocytes of Torpedo marmorata Risso. These Als and fragments are detected amidst the main glycogen and lipid deposits. AL cisterns are circumscribed by parts of the smooth endoplasmic reticulum. Based on the finding of these unusual annular ALs, accompanied by other subcellular lesions such as a number of membranous whorls and altered mitochondria. These findings can concur and support other authors' observations suggesting that these adult hepatocytes transient changes reflect that this species could be exposed to local, natural or likely human coastal seabed pollutants.  相似文献

Brassinosteroid regulates fiber development on cultured cotton ovules   总被引:15,自引:0,他引:15  
Our current understanding of the role of phytohormones in the development of cotton fibers is derived largely from an amenable culture system in which cotton ovules, collected on the day of anthesis, are floated on liquid media. Under these conditions, supplemental auxin and gibberellin were found to promote fiber initiation and elongation. More recently, addition of low concentrations of the brassinosteroid brassinolide (BL) were also found to promote fiber elongation while a brassinosteroid biosynthesis inhibitor brassinazole2001 (Brz) inhibited fiber development. In order to elucidate the role of brassinosteroid in cotton fiber development further, we have performed a more detailed analysis of the effects of these chemicals on cultured cotton ovules. Our results confirm that exogenous BL promotes fiber elongation while treatment with Brz inhibits it. Furthermore, treatment of cotton floral buds with Brz results in the complete absence of fiber differentiation, indicating that BR is required for fiber initiation as well as elongation. Expression of fiber genes associated with cell elongation increased in ovules treated with BL and was suppressed by Brz treatment, establishing a correlation between brassinosteroid-regulated gene expression and fiber elongation. These results establish a clear connection between brassinosteroid and fiber development and open the door for genetic analysis of cotton development through direct modification of the brassinosteroid signal transduction pathway.  相似文献

The synthesis of transition metal barbiturate, and thiobarbiturate complexes containing different functional groups of variable electronic character with CoII, NiII, CuII, PdII, and PtII have been prepared. The stereochemistry and the mode of bonding of the complexes were determined by elemental analysis and electronic and vibrational spectra together with their magnetic moment values. Electronic spin resonance of copper complexes were recorded. The Racah parameter of some cobalt and nickel complexes were calculated. Some of the complexes are of mixed stereochemistry. All the PdII or PtII complexes are of square planar geometries.  相似文献

Concentrations of aluminium, cadmium, chromium, cobalt, copper, iron, lead, nickel and zinc were determined in surface water, benthic sediments, and the gills, liver and stomach muscle tissues of Oreochromis niloticus and Clarias gariepinus in peri-urban lakes Chivero and Manyame, Zimbabwe. Five sites were sampled in each lake once per month in November 2015, February, May, August and November 2016. Pollution load index detected no metal contamination, whereas the geo-accumulation index reflected heavy to extreme sediment pollution, with Fe, Cd, Zn, Cr, Ni and Cu present in both lakes. Significant spatial temporal variations were detected for Al, Cr, Cu and Pb across sites within and between the two lakes. High Fe, Al and Cr concentrations in water and sediments in lakes Chivero and Manyame derive from geogenic background sources in addition to anthropogenic loads and intensity. Elevated concentrations of Al, Pb, Cu, Cd, Fe and Zn detected in gills, liver and stomach tissue of catfish corroborate concentrations in water and sediments, and pose the highest ecological and health risk for hydrobionts in lakes Chivero and Manyame. Contiguity of peri-urban lakes exposes them to similar threats, necessitating creative water management strategies, which ensure ecological continuity.  相似文献

Aim: To investigate the role of biofilm‐forming Paenibacillus polymyxa strains in controlling crown root rot disease. Methods and Results: Two plant growth‐promoting P. polymyxa strains were isolated from the peanut rhizosphere, from Aspergillus niger‐suppressive soils. The strains were tested, under greenhouse and field conditions for inhibition of the crown root rot pathogen of the peanut, as well as for biofilm formation in the peanut rhizosphere. The strains’ colonization and biofilm formation were further studied on roots of the model plant Arabidopsis thaliana and with solid surface assays. Their crown root rot inhibition performance was studied in field and pot experiments. The strains’ ability to form biofilms in gnotobiotic and soil systems was studied employing scanning electron microscope. Conclusion: Both strains were able to suppress the pathogen but the superior biofilm former offers significantly better protection against crown rot. Significance and Impact of the Study: The study highlights the importance of efficient rhizosphere colonization and biofilm formation in biocontrol.  相似文献
